As reported Jones is in camp and been in Whitewater for most of the summer. Word is from camp that he is currently immersed in a battle for the starting QB spot......

How funny would it be to see him transfer for his senior year to only end up the back-up?
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Nothing like competition to bring out the best in a player.  It would be nice to see one of the boys that have been in the wings win the job.

Not sure how many WIAC folks have been the General Football page, but there is an on-going discussion on roster size limits.  I'd be very interested in seeing some of you guys join the fray to get your perspective.

Another Derek Stanley article from stltoday:  Rookie receiver attempts huge leap into pro ranks.  Includes nice photo of him "going-over-the-top" for another grab.

According to Coach Scott Linehan "Derek's had a really good camp. He's not unlike any of the rookies; he's had his ups and downs. But he's really making a lot of plays."

Stanley and the Rams play tonight on CBS.  Schmitt's game is not televised this week.   Good luck to them both.  Keep up the good work.  It is a good time to be a WARHAWK fan!!

Falcons will scrimmage Eagles next Saturday, morning and afternoon/evening in LaCrosse. The decision was made last spring when John O. was at LaCrosse for the state track meet and happened to get into a  conversation w/Eagles staff. Eagles do not have a tenth game, Falcons could not get a scrimmage with anybody, plus a "very good relationship between our two staffs" were all factors in the decision.

As John O. said yesterday at the annual Falcon Hog Roast, a time when parents, fans, team all get together for a noon feast and an afternoon scrimmage, "People ask why would we scrimmage somebody in our league? Let's just say that it's a case of two teams getting together to make both of us better."

RF and LaX do not play each other until late in the season, and the "secrecy factor" just was not important enough to make either staff wary of a scrimmage.

Any news on whether the Warhawks will be scrimmaging another team this year?

Unfortunately WHITEWATER won't be scrimmaging anyone.   It was thought that we would scrimmage Elmhurst again but they scheduled Lakeland feeling it was a better matchup for them.  Attempts were made to find another opponent but they were unsuccessfull for a variety of reasons.

I know I could find it another way, but who is Schmitt playing for? (Or is it, for whom is Schmitt playing?)  I had thought that he had a better chance of making an NFL roster than did Stanley. I saw the Rams game last night, and was impressed with Stanley, particularly his speed on KO returns. Good luck to them both, as well as Mike Allen, from Whitworth, who I saw on the HBO KC Chiefs series, is listed third on their depth chart at TE.

retagent, Pete Schmitt is with the Redskins.  Currently listed as the #2 fullback

Thanks. I wish I would have read it earlier so I could have watched the Skins game.

According to the St LouisPost-Dispatch projections, Derek Stanley is on the bubble to make the Ram's regular season roster.  The breakdown:
