BoBo - I don't have any idea on the UWL starting QB spot...

I could read into the fact that Moe took the first snaps, plus he's a junior... but it would just be speculation on my part, since I haven't seen them play, or in practice... Neither has played a down in collegiate ball, if I'm remembering correctly what I read today about the situation...

Not sure if the tv station will have Coach Terry on during Sunday night sports, but look to see what he says in the La Crosse Tribune Sunday edition... Maybe he will shed more light on things there, or maybe he will keep us all guessing until they strap it on against HS on Saturday... ;)

BoBo

Thanks 19...anyway, a pretty tough assignment for either one of those guys, making their first collegiate start against a team the quality of HSU on the road. We'll get an idea what they are made of very quickly. Wish them both and the Eagles, as a team, good luck in the upcoming season.

Bobo, You make a good case but, IMHO, having the players enter camp feeling like there is a fair and open competition for starting positions, (at the very least,  the ones due to graduation,) outweighs the need to, "establish a pecking order."  I don't think it takes long for that to happen after the depth chart is out whenever that may be.   I wouldn't want to risk a, "why bother, coach has made his mind up," mentality at the start of camp.  In Leipolds case, as a new coach, I don't believe that spring ball comes close to showing him enough to publicly announce a depth chart.  Not saying you are wrong, just agreeing to disagree on this one.

Bulk 19, you mean Terry hasn't announced his starting QB yet?  Sorry, Bobo, I couldn't resist.  ;D Hey atleast you woke the board up and got some football discussion going!  +karma to you and the rest of the page.

413,  I can live with that. Your points and those of Mr. Coleman were certainly well placed and on the mark, too.

T minus one week and counting...and that's the good and only news that matters the most now.  Good luck to all the WIAC teams and players as the regular season is nearly here!! (finally ;))

Brief highlights of the UWL-UWRF scrimmage indicated junior Griffin Moe took the first series of snaps at QB for the Eagles. He had a TD pass. Sophomore QB Gus Almonroeder also took snaps, as the two have been battling it out this week for the starting job. He had a sneak for a TD...

Not sure what the final stats were, though, since it was TV clip...

The local newspaper reported today Coach Larry Terry would probably settle on the starter after today's scrimmage, but not necessarily name him, as a final decision will be made next week...

Heres the article from the LC Tribune about the scrimmage and the QB derby going on.

Both UWRF and UWL were reportedly happy with results of scrimmage...UWL clearly more athletic at skill positions...RF pass rush was impressive...Stan Z was on hand...his son started for RF...UWL had more big plays...RF had only one turnover (int)...Carnak the Magnificent II predicts Moe will be the starter.

Does anyone have an idea why a kid from Thousand Oaks decides to relocate to Whitewater, Wisconsin?   ???

To have a shot at playing for a title, maybe, see if he could play at a higher level than the SCIAC, etc.

...probably the main reason is for the ice fishing on Tripp Lake, of course..and...maybe that chance to play a game that counts in December (maybe against SJU!!  ;))

BTW, Mr. Coleman, I believe someone at WW was listening to me the other day when I made the fuss about WW not naming the starting QB yada yada, yada, 2 days later they name a starting QB! Coincidence??? (probably, of course)...so I won't gloat...but 'nuff said.   ;D

I doubt it. I think professional courtesy dictates you send a two-deep to your opponent before the game. At that point, it's basically public information.

Of course, I was just joking with you.  Sorry for the poor attempt at humor.
