Had a chance to spend a week or so with Danny Jones this summer.....seems like a very nice young man. His situation on the West coast was very uncertain with the head coach gone and spring practice about to be cancelled.....he sent out some feelers to a few schools and Whitewater responded. After a few conversations with some players and coaches he decided to become a Warhawk. Solid offensive line ,an excellent receiving corp, and one of the best running backs in D3, and a team with a realistic chance to get back to Salem.....probably influenced a diificult decision.

From what I hear coming out of the CLU camp, he made a good move.  Clu looks like they are going to have a long season.  The defense does not look good and they have a Q.B. with a weak arm.  Good luck to DJ.

Tom Brady

bobcat-  Yeah, the QB that they have now is pretty bad.  I realize the kid only saw limited snaps last year but when he was in there he would run around with no clue and end up on his back.
I am glad DJ is going to get the starting nod for WW.  It would have been a big letdown to leave a school where you have a guarenteed spot and leave to one where you sit.
Cal Lu itself is a mess of an athletic program.  They could not keep Squires happy, hoops players getting in a whole lot of trouble, took forever to find a new coach, president is forced out.  Somebody needs to shape things up in thousand oaks.

Watched the UWW inter-squad scrimmage on Sat.  All three QB's looked very good but Jones was a little more consistant and accurate, is definitely a better run threat and with his game experience, he earned the start, IMHO.

There appear to be some other transfers on the UWW preseason roster...any of those guys make the team? What about Mike Dufrane, a 300 lb defensive lineman that transferred from Augustana? Who are James Sierra, Dominique Johnson, John Novak, and Brandon Clopton? Transfers?

I am referring to the August 10th roster on the UWW website http://www.uww.edu/athletics/mfootball/roster.html.

Is Ryan Gorecki no longer on the team?

Pat Coleman

That claims to be a 2007 roster but if you look at the name wearing uniform No. 2 it tells a different story.

Pat,

Click on the August 10th, pre-season roster link at top of page. It brings up a Word document.

Pat Coleman

Hmm... that's not very user-friendly, is it?

That appears to be the Mike Dufrane who started most games last year for DII Augustana in SD...if so, that's a pretty good fireplug in the middle for the Hawks....James Sierra appears to have been a Warhawk a couple of years ago...

BG, could be that their playing status is questionable due to injury.  They are on the full roster, so maybe it's the result of an injury they are not on the 2-deep.

If hurt, hopefully not badly....those guys are key to the Hawk defense
