If this years St. Johns team is anything like the 05 and 06 teams r falls may have a chance because those were extremely soft teams.  Falls is really weak at the skill positions, aside from Anderson, so it will be hard for them to put up a lot of points. Needs to be low scoring for Falls to have a chance and even then its a long shot.  As far as the johnnies making a Stagg bowl run, id be more concerned about winning your conference. (then again the conference is a joke)

inexperience in the skill positions at the college level does not necessarily equal weakness.  Need i remind us of storm harmon being on the team of the week, and that freshmen receiver with over 150 yards on ten receptions.

There goes Duffman again fading into the past.....

Sak,
You bring that up a lot.  Both WarhawkClownShow and UniqueInsight38 brought up past seasons, and that is why I responded to them.

You want to talk this season?  UWW and SJU both dropped Monkey Stomps on weak teams in week 1.  Not much to say about that.  SJU is gonna drop another Monkey Stomp this week while UWW sits idle.  You worry about getting your Warhawks to the playoffs and we'll tango then ;)

I'm pretty sure no one would overlook a team that put up 54 points and over 500 yards of offense last week, without playing Crown College.

Edited.

Look at who they played.  Not sure about the QB but Z's kid will be a good receiver but he will also struggle this year against better competition, and the fact that he is playing shows how thin they are at the wr position.

Duffman, I hope we both meet again in the playoffs and your QB can throw a few more wounded ducks. Our road there will be tough with league play and Mary Hardin Baylor/St.Cloud State......with your somewhat less challenging schedule you should be undefeated.....Hope to see you in November.....

After having left the OAC board a pathetic, tangled mess of in-fighting following the Johnnie/Marietta game, I'm a little disappointed in this week's banter on the WIAC board.  Is everyone convinced the Johnnies are going to roll this weekend or what?

Was it only yesterday, TC, that you were disappointed that we were all like one big happy family on the WIAC board?  We'll...guess what, Barney isn't here anymore, a good'ol backyard brawl has broken out :o .  Now boys, if we keep this up, someone might just lose an eye...or worse.

A soft team that you narrowly escaped by 3 points? Sorry, the only thing soft is your memory.

SJU has a really good team but they don't exactly get after you physically, they usually execute extremely well and play sound fundamental football.

Has there ever been a phrase that better sums up St. John's v. WIAC matchups?

I wish that back from 1994-1996 the Johnnies would have accepted our offer to play them..-----If they had, the St. John's Fans would have some very bad memories of those games.  I could say without a doubt that we would have pounded them.

That is certainly unique insight.  Just so we're on the same page, the Johnnies' regular season record in those years was 24-2-1, they won the MIAC all 3 years, and made it to the NCAA final four in 1994 and final eight in 1996.  During the same year, the Falcons were also good in the regular season (23-4), but went only 1-2 in the playoffs.  Without a doubt?  I dunno, those were some pretty decent Johnnie squads.

Yeah, this is exactly what I was hoping for with that comment.  I gotta admit, you guys have gotten a couple decent shots in.  You guys are right, WIAC teams will always have the bigger linemen and the hard hitters and the manlier men (and women).  I guess we'll have to be satisfied with just having better football players.

Hi Everyone,

Supposedly St. John's is bringing 80 players.  They must believe that they are going to be able to get their young guys some PT.   The Falcons are going to come out and be very physical against St. Johns.  I wish that back from 1994-1996 the Johnnies would have accepted our offer to play them..-----If they had, the St. John's Fans would have some very bad memories of those games.  I could say without a doubt that we would have pounded them.  I am hoping that the Falcons can restore the tradition that has been set before him.  GOOOOO Falcons----Pound on the Pretty Boys!!!!!!!!!!! :o  Maybe this will get things going.

Wow, two other guys singing the praises of RF football besides Fred.  This if getting good.  I think you RF guys better show up at Bob and Steve's in downtown RF where we will be doing our WESTERN WISCONSIN SPORTS SATURDAY  show this week.  I know the Johnnie fans will be there.  The show will start off with RF coach John O'Grady and will also feature Pat Coleman, MIAC posters Finsleft, Johnnie Red, and the now famous (in his own mind, anyway,) BDB.  If you can't be there in person, use the internet: www.wmeq.com   click on "Listen Live"  from 8:00-10:00

Boy, I don't know about that free 6-pack thing, but BDB is a pretty generous guy so you never know.  I have always thought that you Johnnie guys had enough fire in your belly regarding your football and adding to that fire with more free beer------I just don't know.

For John O'Grady's assessment of SJU's team, google in UW-River Falls Football, click on "audio clips." Among other things, he said "They are faster than us at every position on the football field. I hope real grass slows them down a little. Without a doubt they are among the top 3-4 teams in the nation."

Actually, now you don't have to go there, bcuz that's about all he says.
