Solid. My football instinct tells me that this was a major learning experince for the lads in Purple and some pent up frustrations just might be taken out in this weeks "real season" opener. Go Hawks.

That's the beauty of being arm chair QB's. 8) My guess is that EC is going to be in for a good dose of Warhawk wuppin. Go Hawks !!

Enough with the finger-pointing, please.  It is counter productive!

Hey, I enjoy Monday morning analysis as much as the next guy and thought your observations below were good:

Thought the play calling was decent. Three issues, not negatives just observations. 1) SCSU has a soft zone defense so a few tight end down the seam passes may have helped get them on thier heals a bit. 2) Thought UWW went to the pass to early which helped the linebackes get in gaps considering Jones had no blind side protection after #75 went down. 3) Only questionable play calling was when UWW was on the 1. What about a play action, end around or some misdirection. It's good to thump your chest and say we are tougher than you but after the first two downs went a total of 1" they may have tried some misdirection.

Just making the point that Gifford and Wells don't need any piling on at this point, IMHO.  We're cool.  8)

Ditto of the older lads in purple, too (i.e. the coaching staff).  Some may scoff at the notion, but I'm sure it was a learning experience for them, also.  A strong wake-up call can do wonders for anyone.  But, lets not forget, EC comes to WW cruising at 3-0 and with renewed vigor and zest knowning, as the whole league does, that WW is beatable during the regular season.  That hasn't occurred for a long time.

I watched half of the EC / Alma game on the way up to St. Cloud.  Alma didn't look near as good with out last years QB.  EC's 3-0 might be a little misleading and I think they will have a tough time with WW this weekend.

Bobo,
The only thing that  last week proved is that UWW can be beat by a D-2 team!! ;) ;D

Beaver Lovers, Did you not see the games the past two years against Mt. Union?? If you did, how in the heck can you say he is better than their RB??  If Oshkosh's RB had WW's O-line and passing game he would be racking up the same amount of yards!!

Scratching the surface, sure, I agree with you, footballfan413.  But, it was the way in which they lost (and the way they played Lakeland) that I made the comments I did.  Some of the skittish WW fans will have to take off the purple blinkers to see this I think.  DII or not, WW now has a new vulnerability that good coaching will be able to exploit.  We'll know this weekend if they enemy can take advantage of it. Mind you, I think WW will win, but I think it will be a lot closer than many WW fans will feel comfortable with or used to.

Well, regardless of how well they have played so far, this week they will have a chance to prove themselves against an unbeaten Eau Claire team.  And next week they visit rested but possibly rusty La crosse.

Could be interesting.

Everyone take a chill pill the WIAC starts this saturday
Hey it was a non conference game and it was against a division two team, so they were playing kids who get scholarshis while they play the game for the love of the game. Was it faif but thats what happens when you are the 2nd best team in the country back to back years.
I am sure coach Lance and staff have corrected the mistkes and have made the proper adjustments, and I have no fear that the Hawks will win on Saturday.
Yes the O lost Bruise,Max,D-Stan and P. Schmidt. However they have a back who is by far the second best back in d3 football and the third best player I have ever sen play. 1.Garcone2. Kamirc or whatever his name is RB from MU and then 3. Beaver
Garcone is unstoppable it showed against UWW
Kamirc ran through walls it showed against UWW
Beaver if he was healthy all year it would have been a lil more productive offense in the stagg bowl for the hawks.
However that was last year and it's a new year, and a new era in warhawk football
BEAVER IS BACK
LANCE IS HEAR TO LEAD THE WAY

SCSU by league rule can offer 32 scholarships.  It's unlikely any player is there on a full ride.  If so the number is very small relative to the roster size.   The amount of the scholarships varies from player to player and with some as small as $500.   Interestingly SCSU is changing conferences next year and the new conference, by league rule, only allows 24 scholarships so they're going to have make some adjustments in who and how much.

I'm not going to say that Beaver is the best running back in the country.  Kmick is damned good.  There's probably a few other guys out there that I've never seen too.  But I've seen a lot of very good running backs come through WW over the years and he is definitely something very special.  He's benefited from solid line play and our passing game was much more a part of the offense than many past years but to assume those are the only reasons and that anybody could come in and do it is grossly underestimating his talent.

that is the most pointless comment i have ever heard.   Why didn't oshkosh recruit the oline that is at UWW?  If oshkosh's running back was better than Beaver then why didn't he transfer to UWW and play ahead of him?  Answer: He isn't!  Anyone can make things up like Wendt would be pro if Justin Jacobs was throwing him the ball.

Players have the right to do what's best for them.  Beaver is the WIAC leader rusher.  The O-line helped that of course but Beaver is a freak of a running back and athlete.  SMELL.

ummalum

The game between UWW and UWEC should not be close, but the hawk O is not the same best talent in the league, maybe the country, but not the same level of coaching . Can UWEC run the ball enough and playaction deep with max pro then you can beat the HAWKS. It is a formula that can beat UWW By the way the retard is back.

warhawkclownshow

Osh's only realistic chance is to throw deep and hope they hit some home runs because they are not capable of running on the hawks.
