bw--yeah, there's a pretty good chance RF wins one this Saturday. Again, the great defensive effort by Baillargeon will not get defensive  player of the week, altho it's strongly arguable that he had the best game of anybody in the league against WW.

Falcons have a few outstanding players, but not enuf of them to compete with WW. It apears that our d line, unable to stop Ferron or Beaver, is being pushed around. However, I haven't seen even a film of either game.

Interesting comment from John O'Grady in pre-game interview:  WW not quite as good this year as last two years and does not have quite the speed/talent of SJU. (Am anticipating a few responses to that one!)

GOT BALLS? PLAY FOR THE FALLS!

Just because you have a lot of tackles doesn't mean you necessarily played a good game, it just means they ran the ball all over you. (55 rushes is a ton)

And what did he say in the post-game interview?  ;)

Falcon....I am glad you reminded me of that comment.....to be honest this Warhawk team is still pretty quick and are actually probably faster on defense than last year. Losing Stanley and Schmitt slows down the receivers a little but they still have a few that can move pretty good.I will make no comment concerning St. Johns or the way they are roaring through ever so tough MIAC. Evidently there are some bad feelings between the coaching staffs at UWRF and UWW and  that maybe where that classy comment originated. Too bad Beaver had cramps because he could have had 400 yards. To all my friends in the Perk parking lot who taunted me about the Bear/Packer game.....Hey! That makes it Illinois 3-0 over Wisconsin recently.....Cubs beat out Brew Crew(choke), Illini over Packers, Griese over Brett. I recommend the monster margarita at that new Mexican restaurant in Whitewater....bring along a designated driver......

Fred,  I understand what O'Grady is saying.  But I thought one big problem your defense had Saturday was containing Beaver once he got to the edge.  We probably don't have the speed we had the past two years but we were a lot quicker than RF and Beaver could have piled up plenty more yards if it had been necessary.  It wasn't and fortunately Anderson has been filling in very adequately.

The time out trailing 38-12 in the final minute of the game was odd.  I'm still wondering what the point was.  Bad blood????

As far as SJU goes we've got a long, long way to go before that becomes relevant.  If it does then I say, "bring 'em on."   Right now our only focus is Oshkosh.   They gave us a run for our money last year and no doubt want to take it one step further this year.  They've got weapons and we've got our hands full.

Good luck the rest of the way.  As a WHIPPET backer it was nice to see Mike Z doing well.  He's got a real future in this league imo.

I predict the EC kid with 17 tackles is the front runner for this week's WIAC defensive POW.

I agree with you BW that now time to focus on OshKosh who gave us a real good game last year. Our Oline played great but we are giving up too many sacks......although a couple of them were on our backs who missed their blocks.....Pound the Rock !!!.....

The Warhawks need to heed the advice of the Badgers' Jack Ikegwuonu:

"We were playing undisciplined football," UW cornerback Jack Ikegwuonu said of the defense. "And you play that way against Illinois or . . . I don't know, UW-Oshkosh, it doesn't matter. If you play undisciplined football, you're going to get beat."

It was unseasonably hot and humid so cramps were happening on both sides of the feild. There were some issues with the weather in the stands as well. We were watching on the internet and a few times they showed medical staff helping someone. Of course alcohol at 9:30 for breakfast may not have helped.  ;D

Just wondering, what do you guys think is the problem with Justin Beaver? I mean, he's averaging 151 yards/game, but it appears the only thing able to stop or slow him down recently are the leg cramps that have been reported.  What's with that? With the big lead on River Falls at the half, WW was able to rest him without a great deal of anxiety, though I bet there was a lot of trepidation in Warhawk fans at the time it happened vs La Crosse.  Have there been others having similar problems or is it just Beaver?  Just seems like a rather odd ailment to sideline him two weeks in a row.

Nice blocking scheme on the corners. Beaver hits the holes so fast it doesn't take much of a crease. I agree about the T.O. kind of a head scratcher. Anderson showed again that he can step up when asked. Maybe a two back set to throw a wrinkle into the game plan ? O line needs to pass protect against Osh or they will tee off on the runnning game. Osh is as fast up front and the LB's have some gitty up as well. Look for the passing game to help keep Osh honest up front.

We couldn't hear the internet broadcast as something was wrong with the feed and from what I understand it was a nation wide but had it projected on the big screen via Penn Atlantic. They were making reference to the weather all day. The Mrs and I will be there this weeked and hope it's a bit milder. For the MHB game we are prying for freezing rain because if the weather is the same  as it was last weekend it could be a long day for WW. Them Texas boys are used to it. 90 plus and 65% humidity
