Hey Stoutguy,

I was listening to your radio show on Saturday morning and you mentioned you were headed to Chicago for the Marathon.  I am wondering how the young lady who was running is doing.  I sincerely hope everything is okay.  350 to the hospital and 1 person dead is really a serious tragedy.  Let me know.

Your old buddy,

Touchdown Tommy

Thanks for asking TT.  Yes, she did finish and it was a special one for her as her son has been diagnosed with MD and she raised over $4000 for the cause of finding a cure.  The weather was brutal and as a former marathon runner myself, I can appreciate what these people put themselves through on Sunday.

Congrats to all WIAC Player of the Week winners, including Bruce Baillargeon, UWRF. Matt Stanek, says, "in your face, Fred Falcon." Seriously, it's good to see that players on losing teams CAN be recognized.

GOT BALLS? PLAY FOR THE FALLS!

Just a little heads up for the Warhawk Alum & anyone else that would like to join. (the raebels, sakman and the goo cru, and Mr. Jacobs you better be there)  A bunch of the old, washed up players are planning on making it to the game for some pre-game grilling, drinking, making fun of each other, and some corn holl.  Should be a good time to catch up and watch the Warhawks bring home another victory or 2 because some of you guys drink to much and will see that we have the same score twice.

I won't be in attendance because i'm polish and work for a bank and i have to work this saturday.  I will however be listening to the game, and i'll give my own pregame speech with a lot of swears and spitting from my office.  Dinks will probably smash a chair with a sledge hammer or something to get the guys going but I'm not worried about them being ready at all.

Oh yeah, Mitch needs to get some more balls thrown his way.  By far the best dressed, how is he supposed to get TV time without the ball??  Hook it up Danny.

There you go, Fred.  Ask and you shall receive. :D

I haven't kept track of it or anything but it's interesting that both the offensive player of the week and the defensive player of the week came out of the same game.  I wonder how often that happens?

Sorry Jimmy I will not be in attendance this week.  The OPRF huskies have their own homecoming game.  But I will be there in 2 weeks for the game of the year.  I know you shouldnt look past opponents but lets be honest, the same thing will happen that always does.  Osh Kosh will try and run with Moriaty and he wont go anywhere.  Then they will be forced to pass and will turn the ball over.  Beaver will run for 150 plus and the score will be something like 28 to 7.  And Point, come on with the top 25 ranking.  They havent played anybody.  They barely beat the bottom teams in the WIAC.  RF and PVille by 3.
So as a fan Im going to look ahead to the MHB game.  Is anyone excited as I am?  2 vs 3 at the perk, what could be more exciting?

Your questioning Point being in the top 25. Yeah they havent beaten anyone good this year but they have won 9 straight games so Im sure that has something to do with the ranking.   And the last time I checked a win is a win no matter how many points its by.  There arent any style points for winning.  Not when there is a playoff system and rankings dont matter.

Goo 62

A win is a win correct, but that only matters when you are a coach or a player on that team.  Not when you are doing rankings.  It does matter that they are beating the lower teams in the WIAC by only three points.  That means when they actually play the good teams it will show that they are a middle in the pack WIAC team.  They should not be in the top 25 til they beat somebody.  Look at the top 3 teams they dont just win, they dominate with the exception of UWW's Lax game and St. Cloud game, which should be close games.  Maybe that is just because the top 3 teams are way ahead of the rest of the pack?

Just Bill

Hey, it's not Point's fault they're ranked. They don't write the poll.

Point clearly hasn't played the quality of opponents that EC, WW and LC have.  Their ranking has a lot to do with the company they keep.  If a voter sees a 5-0 team in the WIAC, they will assume they must be pretty good.

And really, all the voters have said to this point is that SP is the 4th best team in the league.  That very well may be true.  (And what a credit to the league if the 4th best team is the 22nd-best in the country!)

I guess my point is that the rankings will take care of themselves.  Once Point plays the top teams they will either show they belong in the top 25 or they will show that they don't.  It's not worth getting bent out of shape when the meat of their schedule is still coming up.

Goo 62:
I think your last post shouldnt say "maybe that is just because the top 3 teams are way ahead of the rest of the pack?"  I think it should read: maybe because the #1 team (Mount Union) is WAY AHEAD of the rest of the pack."  But thats just my opinion

badgerwarhawk, it just happened 2 weeks ago - Sept 17-23, Danny Jones and Ryan Ogrizovich from UWW - so soon you forget. ;)  I'm sure you meant from different teams, however.

Take things one step further bw, how often have all three player of the week winners come out of the same game?  If it ever happened, that would've been an interesting game to watch, too.  8)

If a team was the only team playing in a certain weekend, this maybe the case when several other teams are on a bye.  I cannot imagine it happenign during league play with all 8 teams in action.
