I guess something good that came out of the Point vs. Whitewater game was that Point stayed with them for the first half.  It would have been big if they could have put atleast 3 points on the board at the end of the half when they recovered the fumble in Whitewater territory.  Hopefully they can regroup and win out the rest of the way to go 9-1 and take second in the WIAC and maybe make the playoff commitee make a decision on whether to put them in the playoffs of or not.  I thought the last game of the year with Point vs. La Crosse would be a good game that would decide La Crosse's playoff fate.  Maybe it will be the reverse.  Point having a playoff birth on the line.

WARHAWK JV's make it a clean sweep of the Pointer this afternoon, 22-15.  Point was up 12-0 but fell behind 14-12 in the fourth quarter before regaining the lead 15-14 but WHITEWATER put another score on the board to win.

Kudos to the D3Football Top 25 voters for not punishing Point too severely for their loss to Whitewater.  After all, nobody else from D-III has beaten them either.

If they slip to Oshkosh then you can cut them loose.  If I knew who any of you were I'd give out +K.

Looks like the Warhawk defense is going to get a healthy dose of the run on Sat.  Can't believe one guy could rush for 324 yards on only 12 carries (UMHB Jarvis Trasher) and a second rush for 199 on only 8.  :o  ???  ::)  That had to be one absolutely pathetic defense UMHB faced last saturday to give up those kind of outrageous numbers. Last year Thrasher had 72 yards on 16 carries vs WW. As a team on offense, they average 7.1/carry this year. Their run/pass ratio is 78%/22%. Makes you want to wonder out loud if anybody in the ASC (other than UMHB) can play run defense with season numbers like that. I think the Warhawk d will be the best they have faced since...well, Whitewater last year...  The WW defense needs to force this team into passing situations, IMO, and control the ball on offense with a good mix of Beaver and the pass. By doing so, they have a chance to send the boys back to Texas with a 1 in the loss column.

Anybody who was in La Crosse yesterday, can you explain to me what happen to Oshkosh?

Seriously, the fans and the media are now paying more attention to the Women's Volleyball team and the Men's Soccer team, and shoot, pretty soon the Women's Soccer team.

Oshkosh was held without a first down and -1 yards of offense in the second half??

I like coach Pat Cerroni a lot. I think he's a great coach, but I'm starting to wonder if its the coaching or the players that are not pulling through in the end.

I'm going to go with the players. I don't want to throw 28 seniors under the bus, but right now I'm watching Soccer because at least they score.

Terrible. Just Terrible.

Maybe La Crosse is a lot (a lot) better than their record indicates.  Check out here and here for stories from someone at the game.

Mary Hardin-Baylor was down 12 in the fourth quarter in the national semifinals at Mount Union in 2004. Passing situation? No, not really. They still pounded it right at Mount Union and came back to win.

If you run, run, run, sometimes you're going to win by the run (like you mentioned in 2004) and sometimes you die by the run. Last year WW/UMHB, they rushed 37 for 49 net yards and passed 27 times.  I guess as a defense, you either stop their run or you don't (rather straight forward approach).  Their record shows they've been pretty successful at it, so nothing more for me to say.

UMHB has had some success passing the ball this year as well.  They certainly are a run first team (and maybe 2nd, 3rd and 4th  ;D), but they have a few receivers that can hurt you if you stack the box.  As far as the ridiculous numbers put up on Saturday go, my understanding is that MC stacked 9 in the box, if you live by the run stop, you die if you can't stop it.  The RB's for MHB are quick (Daniels is 4.3 quick) if they hit open field not many people are going to catch them, and saturday they might as well have been running in the meadow.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Bruce Baillargeon, already leading the league w/15.7 tackles per game, had 17 assisted, 8 solo tackles vs. Stout. Is that good enuf to get him his second Player of the Week honor even tho on a losing team?

Baillargeon is tough but Fred, what I really need to know is what happened to that RF team that you assured me was going to win?  Never a doubt on the game winning field goal that hit the cross bar and bounced through.  And not to  beat on a dead horse, but Z was really active as a "viewer of the game" in the coaching box next to us.  Also, ask your coach where he was at 8:15, a time slot that I moved a HS coach from because Jon told us that is when he wanted to be called Sat. morning.

Obviously, MHB dominated the line of scrimmage, but you have to fault the opposition if they fail to make adjustments (or did they to no avail???) to what quickly turned into a running-game massacre.  MHB's longest TD "drive" lasted 4 plays, but covered the fewest yards (37).  They had 1 play drives,  four times - that's beyond absurd.  Sounds like to me like that team just gave up from the get-go.

Lucky for us, the Hawks won't need to stack 9 in the box.
