stoutguy--that's how I got elected:  by SOUNDING like I know what I'm talking about! The stats say Stout won it by more than a point. What's your take?

Yes, Z is not a wall flower in the coaching booth, but tho he has input, he's not calling the plays.

Don't know where John O. was. I'd bet he forgot.

Remembering back to last years 7-3 UWW win at UMHB.  As I think back to listening to the game from my hospital bed, Whitewater was without Justin Beaver.  What difference did that make? Who knows.

Very good point, Voice.  I think it had to hurt the Hawks at least a little.    ;) :D ;D  And don't forget, we lost Travis Rueland early in that game as well.

That reminds me, why in the hell did Beaver have to have 40 carries last week. The game was in hand, and I see no reason not to let the back up run the last 10 carries or so. Same for Danny Jones. Why not get those guys some playing time so they are game tested should they have to start. WW has good depth this year, why not use some of it.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

All valid questions...you guys who were there may have other opinions, but from my view listening to the broadcast, it sounded like Point was only a big play or two away, from getting back in the ball game. And Point's young QB made a few of those plays in the first half.  But, hindsight being what it is, J'Flash is probably right in his assessment.  Seems only like a year ago Beaver was injuried in a situation like this. ;)

It doesn't happen very often so allow me to give myself a pat on the back for one hell of a prediction on the WW Point game this past saturday!!  (Pat, Pat)   I'll let you guys know what will happen this weekend a little later in the week.  :)

bobo, speed kills and if WW D allows the MHB RB's the corner we might as well move the game over to the track and turn in into 100 yard dash (no) contest.  I'm sniffing a little taste of MHB trying to soften up our corner D by throwing some quick outs and then come back with the outside running game. Doubt MHB will keep trying our middle D after a few good licks.  Not many have treaded into Beaver fumble topic but he has to hold on to the rock.  Jones showed that he is in a good groove with his WR's. (where is Wells ?) Not sure if MHB can get enough of a pass rush to rattle him. Whoever wins the turn over battle will prevail. Giving MHB feild position will be a killer. We'll see but based on what we saw against SP it looks like WW is in a feel good place.

Mary Hardin-Baylor was down 12 in the fourth quarter in the national semifinals at Mount Union in 2004. Passing situation? No, not really. They still pounded it right at Mount Union and came back to win.

If you run, run, run, sometimes you're going to win by the run (like you mentioned in 2004) and sometimes you die by the run. Last year WW/UMHB, they rushed 37 for 49 net yards and passed 27 times.  I guess as a defense, you either stop their run or you don't (rather straight forward approach).  Their record shows they've been pretty successful at it, so nothing more for me to say.

UMHB has had some success passing the ball this year as well.  They certainly are a run first team (and maybe 2nd, 3rd and 4th  ;D), but they have a few receivers that can hurt you if you stack the box.  As far as the ridiculous numbers put up on Saturday go, my understanding is that MC stacked 9 in the box, if you live by the run stop, you die if you can't stop it.  The RB's for MHB are quick (Daniels is 4.3 quick) if they hit open field not many people are going to catch them, and saturday they might as well have been running in the meadow.

Obviously, MHB dominated the line of scrimmage, but you have to fault the opposition if they fail to make adjustments (or did they to no avail???) to what quickly turned into a running-game massacre.  MHB's longest TD "drive" lasted 4 plays, but covered the fewest yards (37).  They had 1 play drives,  four times - that's beyond absurd.  Sounds like to me like that team just gave up from the get-go.

Should be a great game at the Perk on Saturday......2 great sets of linebackers, both have solid offensive lines, and each team have stud running backs. Last years game was decided by special teams. UWW last year won without Beaver and had some big plays called back on some tough calls....The Goo Crew will be at the Perk early for the usual pre game mood adjustment....see you there.....Pound the Rock!!!!!.....

I was at the Stout-River Falls game this past weekend.
It was a great game.  I would agree with the setiment that Stout should have won by more than 1 point, but that is the way the cookie crumbles as a "W" is a "W".  Stout had several miscues on the day with simple mental breakdowns and discipline penalties (4 turnovers and double the yardage in penalties).  The Stout "O" seemed they could dictate what they wanted to do being able to run most of the day freely and only punting twice.

I heard another story last night that was just the best. First day of Lombardi on the job. In he comes in all fired up and during the team meeting he holds up a football and says something like " this is a football" and Max says "wait don't go so fast." ;D

Max was old SMU Mustang.  My favorite story about him was the day of the first Super Bowl he had been out partying all night and was caught by Vince Lombardi coming back into the Hotel in the early morning hours.  He caught holy heck and then when out and played probably his best game with a huge hangover.  I'm really looking forward to the game on Saturday.  The thing I remember about last years game was the sportsmanship and friendliness of the people from Whitewater.  Had a chance to stop and talk to several and if they are a sample of what the people are like up there it's going to be a treat.  Good luck to both of us whatever the outcome.
