Both of our guys are lightning in a bottle and are wicked strong.  They will bring the hurt.

Ya, I would say the same about Beaver.  Your guys haven't had a chance to meet him yet.   ;)

They are obviously talented but it will be interesting to see what they can do against, what will probably be, the best run defense they will have faced this season.

Welcome aboard MHB fans. Last year was an onslaught by two great defensive front sevens. Kind of an interesting game with ten points and I think about 300 combined yards. The backs are some of the best we'll see all year though. This is a different WW team this year also, especially with Justin Beaver in the line-up. I can't WAIT to see this game and I would be lying if I said that I was not worried at least a little bit.

I have to agree that this game will be a tight one.  Both teams should be a little "worried" but confidant.  Both squads are where they are for a reason and I believe both respect the other quite a bit.

The previous poster said something about us facing the toughest run D in y'all, and while that may be true, the same was said for last week.  Our two O lines are VERY tough and VERY formidable.  Our senior FB is a bruiser, and neither RB lets up.

I will be interested in seeing how we do against Beaver as well.  I know he is great and will give us a challenge.  It should be a great game!
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

If you look at this http://web1.ncaa.org/stats/StatsSrv/rankings, we HAD faced the toughest run defense all year and we obliterated them.  If you look at the rankings for this week, Mississippi does not even show up.  I think we will hold our own.  Not to mention that our run D is formidable as well.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Rick Akins

As far as the UMHB two deep, every week on Wednesday or Thursday the SID Jon Wallin does a really good and very detailed game summary which includes the rosters, two deep, stats and a whole lot more. If you go to umhb.edu and go to athletics and click news you can find it. For example, the preview story about  the Mississippi College game was a news story on Wed., Oct 17 and then go to the game summary.  Sorry, I am not the best as far as "linking" goes. There is one every week and I am sure the Whitewater one will be out tomorrow I expect.

By the way, I will be there on Saturday with one other "grownup" and five college guys.  I CAN'T WAIT!! I know UMHB is significantly better than last year, especially offensively,  but I am not arrogant or fololish enough to predict anything. See you Saturday!!

Rick Akins

I am neither arrogant nor foolish nor even "fololish."  Sorry about the typo.

I asked T if y'all were going and he said yes!  Man I wish I could go this time!  It should be a great game!  Have fun! :o

Whitewater fans,

I posted this same information last week on the ASC board prior to our game against Mississippi College.  I have changed it to fit for this week's contest.  This is not meant for any other reason than informational purposes.  Take from it what you will!!  I just thought it might tell everyone something about both teams.
(Sorry for the format, but I have not figured out how to clean it up to post in straight columns)

PS - NR stands for Not Ranked this week.  They have been ranked sometime in the past 3 weeks

I just wanted to place my two cents on the matchup.  I would like to say that UWW has played much more consistant and better competition than has UMHB.  Playing in the WIAC alone will carry UWW far in any other D3 football game.  I am actually selling both teams as being overrated.  The game will feature two stubborn run games as neither qb will pass for enough to win.  I think that Beaver gets more yardage than their two backs.

UMHB people no one cares about your game last week, you obviously played one of the worst teams in the history of western civilization.  Game should be very interesting with WW turnovers being the deciding factor, if they win this battle they will mostly likely come out with the W.  I would expect a lot more scoring in this game compared to last year, probably around 40 total points.

Rick Akins- If UMHB is really that much better than they were last year they should easily handle WW who is clearly not as dominate, although they are still growing at some key positions.

Devil Badger Gopher

Pat you do bring up a good point.  There is not much to put into that spot at 2 & 3.  I mean if Mt. Union could have another team, I would consider them #2.  There are no good choices except the winner of this game.  I am just not sure if these two teams are the second and third best in the nation.  I think that Capital would beat both teams even though they will be most likely losing for a second consecutive week on Saturday and maybe Ohio Northern.

I don't think its very smart to have UWW and WIAC people throwing smack at our friends from Texas.  They were a hell of a team last year, and they are a hell of a team this year, and the team that wins will be the team that makes the fewest mistakes.  Hawks need to pound the rock.

From a previous UMHB post... Whitewater does not return its entire starting O-Line from 2006.  Max Sakellaris graduated at tackle - I believe he was selected "Lineman of the Year" by one D3 publication.

POUND THE ROCK FOR 60 MINUTES!

Rick Akins

I never said or implied that UMHB would "easily" win, although that would of course be nice.  I do agree with you, warhawkclownshow, that turnovers will be very very important on both sides.  Also, you can never underestimate or  even always predict how travel can impact the game.  I do concede that UWW has most likely played better competition to date.  Neither Christopher Newport nor Hardin-Simmons is as good as I anticipated; on the other hand UMHB handled them both fairly easily.  We will see in 4 days!

Warhawk 96

Roocru,  hope you copy pasted that from somewhere. If not, I nominate you for the hardest working poster award for 2007.

On another note, I can't wait to see how everything shakes up statisitically. I mean, somethings gotta give.
