The Badgers are never on the field for the anthem.  I think it's a pretty common practice in college football.

It's the first time in a D3 level game that I'd seen it so I thought it unusual but I also thought maybe that was how they do it all the time and I knew the BADGERS[ did it.

So I imagine everyone is Stout is really stoked for this upcoming game.  With the LaCrosse win Stout still has an outside chance and would hold the tie breaker in our worst case scenario.  Plus I've heard it's senior game or something like that.   Fortunately staying focused on the next opponent a week at a time and knowing that no one is going to give us anything are two things this team has done well to date.   I don't think anyone will be overlooking the Blue Devil.

I was going to include random thoughts regarding yesterday's game but many of them have all ready been mentioned.  I would say however that defense, turnovers and Danny Jones were all major factors in the way it turned out.

Downtown,  college broadcasters around the nation will thank god when you graduate.

Hey bobo, why the picture of Beaver finding daylight ? There was much daylight for him yesterday as in the movie 30 days of night.  ;Dquote author=BoBo link=topic=3741.msg790835#msg790835 date=1193541003]

stealth, if I told you the reason, I would have to let you in my circle of trust...and with a name like yours, I don't think that's possible.  However, I believe a sense of humor is about as difficult to detect in you as the stealth fighter jet is to the enemy!  ;)  Look at the picture again and tell me what he sees in front of him in that gaping hole (beside the zebra).  It's not commentary of the day as a whole, but simply that one picture!!

Didn't pay much attention to them coming out late but did notice them after warmups jumping up and down on the W before going back to the locker room in a mocking fashion.....this was noticed by some of the UWW coaches who made a point of mentioning it to the team. In the end this proved irrelevant since the monkeystomping was handed out by UWW. Never talked to any MHB fans but they were sure nice to us last year in Texas......too bad we would have shared a libation after the game.....Hey Falcon, you went to a play about menopause instead of seeing Z's kid pull in 17 catches. What is the thought process there?.....

Impressive win, Warhawks!   :o :o :o

I've gotta say, I really don't like the drive to Whitewater, but it's looking like a distinct possibility again... :'(

How exactly does one go back to the locker room "in a mocking fashion?"  That sounds a little like enthusiasm being misinterpreted through purple-colored glasses.

First......Way to go Warhawks!!!

Second..........All of the fans sitting near us were shocked that UMHB players didn't come out of the locker room for the National Anthem.  I have never seen that happen before.

I didn't realize UWW fans were concerned with details like these...   :o

Only because the game was dedicated to our men and women who served/are serving in the military..................that's why we were "shocked".

I just wanted to throw in that this has been an exciting year for WIAC conference play.  I tallied it up and there have been 12 games decided by 7 points or less between WIAC opponents.  The last 2 weeks of the season are shaping up to be quite exciting.

couple things on WW\MHB.

I bet Beaver had nightmares about #9. He was all over him most of the game.

I stood on the MHB side most of the game. Early on, during a time out, I heard an O linman say to the coach, "they know what we're going to do when we come out of the huddle". He was really frustrated. I wonder if the coaches found something in films that tipped off some of their plays?
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

I have to work for a living, so I do not have time to restate all my comments, but all you Whitewater fans please read my "treatise" about the UMHB/UWW  game on the Daily Dose thread about  the  game, ESPECIALLY my take about  the disrespect issue.  I really  think your  complaints are unfair and  misplaced. I was at the  game--you took it to us and made us like it on Saturday.  UMHB helped you way too much, but UWW was certainly better on Saturday. There were still 5-6 minutes on the clock when the national anthem was played and I have never seen it played in any of our games until both teams were on the field.  Can't you chalk it up to miscommunication as I am sure it was?

I am a UMHB fan but neither work at the school nor am I a parent of a player, but please celebrate your team and the win--the Warhawks were smart, efficient and effective.  I really don't think there was any intent anywhere by UMHB to disrespect anyone.

I agree as well Rick.  That's the idea I was trying to get to in talking about the "mocking way" UMHB supposedly ran off the field, but you summed it up better than I could.

Sometimes fans and players are so intent on finding a "bad guy" to oppose their good guys that any action, gesture, or odd way of walking becomes "disrespect."

Here's my case study:  I used to coach high school basketball and I had a player who routinely took his warm-up jersey off as soon as reached the court.  One particular road game, he tossed his jersey toward our bench and it laid on the floor for about 30 seconds until our manager picked it up.  Apparently it landed directly on the logo of the opposing school.  A few of the home crowd got extremely angry about the "disrespect" of his jersey on their logo.  Some even claimed he placed it deliberately and even motioned to the crowd when he did it (video, of course, proved otherwise).  It got so ridiculous that I had a reporter call my house asking what kind of punishement I would be issuing for this "blatant disregard for sportsmanship."  (I politely suggested he find a new line of work.)  I even called the opposing head coach to make sure the air was clear, and he apologized to me before I got another word out.

That was an extreme case, but I think this kind of thing happens almost every game.

I noticed that prior to leaving the field after their pregame warmup the entire MHB team gathered on the W at midfield and jumped up and down on it working up a frenzy.  Don't know if there was any disrespect intended (doubt it) and didn't really care.   But some of us got a chuckle out of it.

Flash, was that the linebacker?   That guy was all over the place.  There were at least four or five times during the game when you'd see a hole open up in front of Beaver and I'd mutter, "there he goes," only to see the linebacker come flying in and making the tackle for a short gain.   He was really quick and had a really good game.

It should also be noted that UMHB is a 20 minute drive from the largest military base in America, Fort Hood.  The school and just about everyone in the area largely depend on Fort Hood and the military families there for the economy.  I assure you there is no disrespect meant for our men and women in the military.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

UMHBalum-n-CenLa and Bill,
Hope that crow tastes good! Since both of you view my observations as way off base, what would you like to blame the loss on, the weather, maybe the length of the grass???

In reguards to the UMHB players jumping up and down on the W at midfield, I assure you they meant no disrespect. They do the same thing everygame at the end of warm-ups to get "hyped". They have a player stand at midfield (Brett Parker for this game), some one kicks a ball to him and then the entire team surrounds him and they jump up and down and basically try to get pumped. Once again I assure you they do this every game and did not mean any disrespect.
