Just Bill

I had to go back five pages to figure out what you're talking about.

I don't recall making a prediction so I don't plan on eating any crow.  Whitewater won because they played better than UMHB.  Are you really claiming the differing educational systems of Wisconsin and Texas are primary reason Whitewater won the game?  I'll state my position again, but obviously you won't get it this time either.

If you wanted to argue that IN GENERAL Wisconsin's D-III's were better than Texas' D-III's because of how the educational systems were set up, you would be able to make some valid points to support that argument.

If you try to apply that argument to ONE particular game it's completely ridiculous.  I might as well argue that Whitewater won because their Chemsitry department is better than UMHB's.  It would have about the same validity.

If you truly believe in this argument, the only logical conclusion would be that EVERY WIAC team must be better than EVERY D-III school in Texas.  After all, they're all in the same educational system, and you believe that is the overriding factor, right?

Go ahead, big man!  Tell us how Platteville, La Crosse, River Falls and Oshkosh would wipe the floor with UMHB because of the educational system they function in.  And while you're at it, tell us how Beloit, Carroll and Concordia would beat them too.  They're getting the same advantages you pointed out that the UW schools are getting.  It should be a very entertaining read.  Waiting patiently...

LC65,

I can eat crow with the best of 'em. However, I did not take issue with your observations so much as you made it sound like a UWW win was a foregone conclusion. Your observations concerning the distribution of talent in Wisconsin and Texas (and, if I recall correctly you tossed in Mississippi for good measure) may or may not be valid, though they are thoughtful and interesting to ponder.

I never said that UMHB would win. I, in fact, said that a UWW win would not be an upset. It has been my observation, over the past few years, that UMHB always has a couple of games where they don't seem to show up.  A few of these games they have pulled out of the fire simply because they had more talent then the team they were playing. However, they have lost just as many of these games they have sleep-walked in. (I have to be fair and say that most teams have a game where they play less than their best. It is the great teams find a way to win, even when they struggle.)

I am of the opnion that  UMHB did not play to their potential on Saturday. Does that mean I think the CRU wins, minus the turnovers and penalties. No, but I do think the game would have been much closer.  I will reference roocru's earlier post that calls attention to the stats. The glaring difference in the game was UMHB's 5 turnovers. Again, I am not taking anything away from UWW. Their defensive game plan was superb which helped to create some of the turnovers.

If you read my tag-line at the bottom, you will notice a quote that I embrace. You will hear no "ifs and buts" from me concerning this loss. The scoreboard shows that UWW kicked UMHB's tail.

UWW was the better team on Saturday. Hats off to them. Jones was very effective with the short passes and we either did not have an answer or did not make the right adjustments. Also, Jones did a nice job of escaping pressure.

I do hope the CRU uses this loss as a springboard to improve. It would be nice to meet UWW later in the post season.

stealth, if I told you the reason, I would have to let you in my circle of trust...and with a name like yours, I don't think that's possible.  However, I believe a sense of humor is about as difficult to detect in you as the stealth fighter jet is to the enemy!  ;)  Look at the picture again and tell me what he sees in front of him in that gaping hole (beside the zebra).  It's not commentary of the day as a whole, but simply that one picture!!

In reguards to the UMHB players jumping up and down on the W at midfield, I assure you they meant no disrespect. They do the same thing everygame at the end of warm-ups to get "hyped". They have a player stand at midfield (Brett Parker for this game), some one kicks a ball to him and then the entire team surrounds him and they jump up and down and basically try to get pumped. Once again I assure you they do this every game and did not mean any disrespect.

That's what it looked like and  pretty much what I figured.   Plus midfield didn't seem like such an unusual place for the team to gather after warming up.  They were definitely getting hyped up.

Of course the incident in the NFL with Dallas' star and T. Owens came to mind but I don't know anyone who after chuckling thought anything more about it.   Our guys were already in the locker room too so I don't think any players or staff even saw it.

There was suppose to be a Blackhawk helicopter fly over during the national anthem but for some reason it didn't work out.   Bummer, that would have been really cool.

I'm predicting the following score:

UWW 34
MHB 17

The recruits will walk through UWW and come here and win us some more. WIAC championships.  Thus, everyone wins.

Willie Warhawk beat the racing wieners and the Culvers ice cream cone. Two of the wieners got messed up at the start. Nothing worse than an out of control wiener.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Only mentioned the jumping on the W because it was mentioned by UWW coaches to the team before the game. It didn't mean much to me either....I only mentioned it because the coaches singled it out.......not like beating garbage cans and buckets in the end zone so the opposing team can't hear the snap count like  they do in Belton. It is time to forget MHB for now and move on to getting ready for Stout. Do they still have that field that is like playing on the top of a billiard table? Pound the Rock boys and clinch the WIAC......

WW warhawk QB Danny Jones would have liked watching his old California Lutheran University teammate Josh "Squash" Richards interception and  rambling into the Occidential end zone for a Kingsmen touchdown. Blazing 6.4 /40 speed by the Squashman!

Belated congratulations to UW-Eau Claire's wideout Tony Hull, a candidate for the Draddy Trophy as a semifinalist...

Hull was one of 153 semifinalist candidates across the country, in all divisions and the NAIA, vying for the 15 finalists spots, which were announced last week by the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame, as part of its prestigious 2007 National Scholar-Athlete Awards competition...

These players have been recognized for their academic achievement, community leadership and football performance...  Finalists each receive an $18,000 post-graduate scholarship. The Draddy winner, announced Dec. 4, will receive a $25,000 postgraduate scholarship and a 24-inch, 25-pound bronze trophy.

So Willie's pre game warm up the parking lot was well worth it  ;)

He and Josh were/still close friends so we are sure he knew what was happening as it was a 7pm west coast start.

Putting aside the outcome of the WW vs. MHB game, all Hawks fans hope for a speedy recovery to Josh Jackson. You'll be missed. His replacement has some big shoes to fill. Beleive they are saying broken ankle  :(

Bummer.  Josh was making more plays every week.  He was really blossoming.

We get Gifford back on the field, but lose a good LB.  That darn fickle finger of fate ...
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Sakman 1111, why do you mention the garbage cans and buckets in your last post?
