IHAVESOMETHINGTOSAY...

You're right, only THREE (not two) regular season games the past three seasons under 100 yards.  With that said I need to say he doesn't deserve the recognition of being the top running back in the WIAC this season.

By the way, UW-Stout has revised Justin Beavers rushing total from Saturday's game. He is now credited with a 44 carry, 194 yard rushing performance including a 63 yard first half touchdown.

Voice:  now if he would have had 80 yards instead of 77 then I would say hes the best back this year. (Just so people know, IM JOKING) So they dont think I hate Whitewater.

Beaver had 44 carries against Stout and maybe broke 3 or 4 tackles the entire game.   I believe Moriarity and Anderson both run harder than Goo's self proclaimed "best back in the history of competitive football"   What round is he going to get drafted in this year?

If he gets drafted at all its better than anything your running backs have done in the last 5 years

Someone had mentioned the "Take that Whitewater" quote and I SERIOUSLY can't remember what that was all about.  I am not trying to be a jerk about the whole thing, but I just can't remember what exactly happened.  Didn't it have to do with stout's old coach?  Maybe I'm wrong, but can someone refresh my memory??

"Take that WHITEWATER" is the infamous comment made by one of Stout's radio guys (not Stoutguy but his partner) two years ago when he got carried away and over excited because Stout scored a second touchdown and took a temporary lead before we beat them into submission.  Pat Coleman happened to have heard it and commented here.  Stoutguy has steadfastly denied making the call.   It cracks me up everytime I think about it.

Take that Stoutguy!  lol

I've re-read every comment Goo has made since this discussion began and no where can I find him stating that Beaver is the "best back in the history of competitive football."  He has stated that Justin is the best back in the history of the WIAC but even Goo realizes that's a far cry from what you've quoted him saying.

Perhaps he made this comment some time ago and I missed it.  But otherwise you use quotation marks when you are quoting what someone has actually said.

Justin Beaver is the best back in the WIAC.   You can quote me on that. :D

It will be interesting to see if Ferrum can win an opening round game (and more interesting to see how long the starters will play in a no-implications final with CNU).

As I stated before, you may outscore this Ferrum team....but the '05 squad is good for 24 on anyone in the land of D3!"

Remember in context -- Ferrum fans, including a relative of the head coach and the student body president complaining all year about not being in the Top 25. They were never ranked in our poll but got as high as No. 21 in the AFCA poll. Then, not only did they not score 24 points in a game, they didn't score 24 points in the final two games combined, a 44-7 loss to Christopher Newport and a 59-14 loss to Wesley in the first round of the playoffs.

Okay, fine, I'll deny saying it again.  But I will quote myself the other day when I said that "Everytime I say something stupid on the radio, someone is listening".

Regarding Blugold playoff hopes -

To quote Jim Mora, New Orleans Saints coach, albeit in a bit of a different context here: "Playoffs?! Don't talk about playoffs! Are you kidding me? Playoffs?! I'm just hoping we can win a game, another game!"  ;)

And that may be the mindset the 'Golds have this week, prepping for Saturday's game against Stout at Carson Park... The 'Golds will be looking to win one more game, to finish at 8-2 overall. I don't think the players are focused about something that isn't likely - a playoff spot. They are focused on Stout. That's it.

They aren't going to have the stats to place players on the all-conference teams, either. But with a W against the Blue Devils, they will finish at 5-2, all alone in second in the WIAC, after being tabbed for 7th at the beginning of the year. That's the only goal they can have right now...

Goo 62

J44 you really are clueless but that is just my opinion.  Im sure you are just exaggerating about the 3 or 4 broken tackles.  Frankly he could of broke 0 tackles he had 44 carries for 194 yards rushing that is a 4.4 avg against a supposedly good defense that is pretty good to me.
When did getting drafted become a standard of being a good D3 football player?  That doesnt make any sense to me.  Look at all the great D3 football players not to get drafted or even tryouts in the NFL.  I could name some if you would like.
Chalk another idiotic post up for J44 but that is just my opinion.

You can have all the other RB's I'll take my Beaver and his 3 WIAC championships and you can have all those other RB's and be in the middle of the pack in the WIAC.

J44

I didn't mean to rustle your feathers Goo.  I've watched a lot of football through the years as I have had 3 kids play at the college level and one that went on to play professionally for 3 seasons in the Arena Football league.  Just simply stated, Beaver does not impress me anymore than a handful of other backs I have seen in this league.  But I do understand why you are so loyal, you did have a great collegiate career where he must have been the reason why you got such notariety last season.

Goo 62

J44 I just dont understand how Beaver doesnt impress you.  You must not have seen him play that much.  He did have alot to do with me getting the awards I did.  Not every thing but alot.
If you judging him on one performance than a man of you football magnitude should know that isnt fair.

I would really have like to see how a BluGold/St Johns game would have turned out this year.

My judegment is not based on just one game.  I've probably seen him play 8 or 9 games the past two or three seasons, and simply am not overly impressed.   No question he is a good solid runner, but like I've said when there is a hole he gets yard just like many others.  I Haven't been blown away by his power or elusiveness.  And Goo for the record I do know you were quite the beast, so that award you got was deserving regardless of who was in the backfield.   I also sincerely hope the Hawks take it to the next level, as it would be GREAT for the toughest D3 conference in the nation.
