Would anyone support this Whitewater run as being a dynasty to the WIAC?
Only 5 times in the history of the Wisconsin Conference has a team won 3 consecutive outright championships.
If so, what has been the largest factor to this dynasty?
And I wonder how many of those have been 3 straight undefeated conference seasons?
Might find the answer to this question here:

I think the 1946 Northern Division season had to be one of the most exciting in history:

1946
Northern Division
1. Superior 1-0-3
2. River Falls 2-1-1
3. Stout 1-1-2
4. La Crosse 1-2-1
   Eau Claire 1-2-1

It's like Suduko with tight season records.  From the records above, we can tell that one of Superior's ties was with Stout and that River Falls beat La Crosse and Eau Claire.   River Falls loss must have been to Superior.  Which means RF's tie was with Stout.  Is there any other results that can be figured?  All that is left is that Stout beat one of La Crosse and Eau Claire and the loser of that game beat the other #4 team.

Thank god.  My next guess was going to be Women Adverse to Instigating Coitus.  (That's an EXTREMELY large club.)

BoBo--the 1946 season WAS exciting. I watched the Falcons then-- when I was 13. We had 6'6" Nate DeLong at end, the guy who is the all  time leading scorer for the Falcon basketball team--still holds the best career point total.

More exciting was the night I saw him score 72 points vs. Winona State Teachers College--you know--the "good old days."

In a battle between two teams slated for the bottom of the conference standings, a final: UWEC 17, UW-Stout 14, in a thriller from Carson Park between players who laid it all out until the end for a second-place finish in the WIAC...

The 'Golds win puts them at 8-2 overall, and, at 5-2, gives them sole possession of second place... Stout finishes at 4-6 overall, and 3-4 in the conference. Coach Naatz did a nice job in his first season in a tough conference; he fielded a very competitive team...

Congrats to the 14 Blugold seniors, and those behind the scenes - trainers, statisticians, band members, etc. - who are graduating with a W. Not many teams can say they ended their seasons with a W and an 8-2 record. Be proud of it, gentlemen, for it's one of the best seasons in Blugold football history... The smiles on the players' faces as they posed for pictures one last time,  flashbulbs popping all around like lightning bugs, says it all...

The Blugolds, trailing 14-10 in the fourth quarter, put it in the hands of its D. With 5:30 left, the offense, facing a fourth and one from its own 36, punted; punter Mitch Schaeuble boomed a 47 yarder, putting the Blue Devils back on their own 17... After a three and out, the 'Golds forced a punt and got the ball back at their own 46, with 4:17 left in the game. The Blugolds then scored the winner,  with Corey Sartorelli capping the 54-yard, 10-play drive with a two-yard slashing run...

Stout had one last chance, with 1:24 left, starting at their own 20, and in seven plays, got to the 48, before a Craig Prolifka INT sealed it for UWEC...

Defense/special teams played a big part for the Blugolds early on, too; the Blue Devils drove to the 'Golds 29 on the opening possesion of the game, only to have a field goal blocked by Matt Ebner. The 'Golds then went 68 yards in six plays, capped by a Schaeuble to Tony Hull 40-yard TD pass.

Right before the half, Stout answered to tie it at 7 with a 4-yard pass to Shawn Korth from Kyle Provos... Korth had a nice game, with 11 catches for 150 yards. Provos was in for an injured Tanner Kattre, who later showed his athleticism and versatility when he came back in the second half as a wide receiver... Tony Hull had a whale of a game for the 'Golds, too; he had 12 catches for 213 yards...

Stout went up 14-7 midway through the 3rd quarter on a 19-yarder from Provos to Chase Unbehaun. UWEC pulled to within 14-10 in the 3rd on a 27-yard field goal by Craig Kolb... And that set up the finale...

I just want to congratulate Coach Todd Glaser, his staff and players on a remarkable, exciting season. I'm sure WW fans are wondering how this team finished 8-2. I'm NOT saying they would beat WW if given a second chance. But EC played down there when they had just lost their QB and hadn't yet "discovered" Schaeuble. They might have made it more interesting, though.

As usual, the 2nd place team in the WIAC won't get into the NCAA Playoffs, but it was still a fun ride.

By the way, congrats also to Coach Naatz and the Devils. They were a few points away from also finishing 2nd after being picked last. With all that program has gone through, it was amazing to see what they've done down the stretch as well.

It'll be a real shame if Eau Claire doesn't get in, and three or four other 2 loss teams get Pool C bids.  It's pretty obvious what lengths the WIAC teams have to go to to get non-conf games.  Upper division and NAIA games don't help you get into the postseason - but if no one else will play your team, what are you supposed to do?
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

A sore point with the ASC teams is when WIAC schools cancel games with ASC schools.

One other thing that would help would be for Superior to add football.  That would give mean the WIAC would only need to find 18 non-conference games (2 games times 9 teams = 18) versus 24 non-conference games (3 games times 8 teams = 24) that they need now.

Ok, I guess I'll state my opinion bgbacker...I don't think you want to go down that road about the what if's or but's. This game isn't played with hypotheticals, so it's rather irrevelant to even consider that. However, I think EC deserves congratulations for finishing in second when the preseason SID predictions had them at 7.  When the second place team goes into the final game of the season scoring less than they have given up (in conference play), shows the competitive nature of this conference.  They weren't overwhelming anyone, but nevertheless, got the W's and that's what it's all about.  I think the EC coaching staff will be able to use the strong season as a springboard into next season being they are unlikely to receive a bid to the postseason. I'm glad you've mellowed since that early season tirade about respect. +K
