Anyone have a condition report on WW placekicker Jeff Schebler?  The broadcast said something like he might have pulled a leg muscle.  Would be a tough loss heading into the playoffs if he was out.

I think the 1946 Northern Division season had to be one of the most exciting in history:

1946
Northern Division
1. Superior 1-0-3
2. River Falls 2-1-1
3. Stout 1-1-2
4. La Crosse 1-2-1
    Eau Claire 1-2-1

It's like Suduko with tight season records.  From the records above, we can tell that one of Superior's ties was with Stout and that River Falls beat La Crosse and Eau Claire.   River Falls loss must have been to Superior.  Which means RF's tie was with Stout.  Is there any other results that can be figured?  All that is left is that Stout beat one of La Crosse and Eau Claire and the loser of that game beat the other #4 team.

Stoutguy probably broadcast this season over telegraph.  Tell us about it!   ;)

Hey, knock that off.  I have had enough abuse this weekend.  Menomonie High School does not make the state game Friday night, Stout loses a heartbreaker, and now another "old" joke.

Congrats to a very, very good Blugold team.  They deserved this win but Stout could have been there at the end just as easily.  Does EC have any chance at all of getting a call?  Some guys on the MIAC board seem to think so.  I would love to see EC play again.  Pat Coleman, let's talk about this next Sat. morning.   St. Johns, Bethel, EC, WW.  Sounds like some interesting Western Wisconsin sports chatter.

BoBo--the 1946 season WAS exciting. I watched the Falcons then-- when I was 13. We had 6'6" Nate DeLong at end, the guy who is the all  time leading scorer for the Falcon basketball team--still holds the best career point total.

More exciting was the night I saw him score 72 points vs. Winona State Teachers College--you know--the "good old days."

He was so darn good, they named a school after him way over in Eau Claire.  When are they going to name something after you, Fred?

Upper division and NAIA games don't help you get into the postseason - but if no one else will play your team, what are you supposed to do?

Lose just one conference game instead of two, I guess.

He was limping pretty badly after he missed that FG try in the 1st half.  They helped him to the sidelines after.

He was sitting for a while then, but was standing in the 2nd half (for whatever that's worth).  Hate to go into the playoffs with a diminished kicking game.

What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

With its 24-21 win today over UW-Stevens Point, fittingly on the eve of Veterans Day, and during the team's last game ever there, UWL improves its all-time record to 217-69-9 at home... A new sports complex is expected to be home to the Eagles in 2009, who will play in Winona in 2008, if I remember correctly...

La Crosse finishes 3-4 in the WIAC, but at 5-4 overall records its 36th winning season in the last 38 years...

No matter what happens regarding the UWEC Blugolds, some of us Blugolds for 8 years will still be rooting for the 'Golds next week, as the La Crosse Aquinas Blugolds will gear it up for a D5 state championship on Thursday...

According to the parings on the WIAA site, the 'Golds must have really liked playing at Memorial Field during its last hurrah, and wanted to get as many games in there this year as possible; they are listed with a 29-7 record.  ;)
They are 11-2 overall...

Im going to go out on a limb and say Eau Claire makes it over Whitworth.  I really think the committee will take 2 WIAC teams.  Whitworth has 2 losses just like Eau Claire.  I know people will say that Whitworths regional record is better.  So what.  I think they will take into account the strength of the WIAC.  I might be wrong but thats what I think might happen.

bgbacker

Interesting that you bring up Whitworth vs Eau Claire for Pool "C" ... Whitworth beat Stout on the final play of the game. EC just beat Stout with just over a minute to play ...both games on home field. Again, I will state, though, that I see no way that the selection committee will take UW-EC.

stoutguy

I think Pat Coleman answered the question best when asked what WIAC teams had to do to get in:"Lose one conference game instead of two."  That RF loss that the Blugolds suffered comes back to bite them in the butt.

Wow, UWW moved to the north bracket and MUC moved to the east!   The Johnnies are doing cartwheels over on the MIAC board!   ;)  Sure will be a different set of opponents this year for the Hawks!  Not what was expected at all!  Congrats to the BluGolds!

How many people, including Pat Coleman, could have predicted today's D3 brackets.
Last night's Occidental upset at the hands of Whittier may have set the NCAA's mock brackets on its ear.  With Cal Lutheran being bumped, probably caused the NCAA to keep Whitworth out do the the 2 flight rule.

Congratulations to EC... who would have thunk it 24 hours ago.

Capital at UWW will be a very interesting first round matchup for the Hawks.  It will sure be a different scenario than the past two years.

One game at a time and POUND THE ROCK!!!

I was right.  I thought all along they would put 2 WIAC teams in as long as they didnt have 3 losses.  Shows that the committee does respect the tough WIAC conference

I heard CLU really stunk it up. 5 turnovers or some ungodly number on the their home feild with all that was at stake. Ouch.  ::)The OXY vs. Whittier game that caused all the upheaval was a 67-60 shoot out.

There's only one way to find out if a man is honest...ask him. If he says 'yes,' you know he is a crook.

Congrats to Eau Claire.  A deserved reward for a good season.

Go get 'em on Saturday!
