Why bother,  they'll lose in the first round like they always do regardless of the opponent.

huh?  Was that directed at the NWC?

D3.com podcast is saying that Capital needs to keep UWW below 21 points to have a shot. Keith also said that coach Berezowitz told him that the current D might be better than the last two years. If coach Z doesn't go into a clam shell play calling like last weeks second half I'd take UWW minus the 10 at home.

That was Keith's take. Mine was more like 13, but we never got back to my response. :)

No....my bad.  I misread it as MWC.   Maybe because I knew EC was playing St Norberts.

Actually I wondered why anyone in the MWC would care whether Whitworth or Eau Claire was selected but I didn't really care enough to delve any further into it.

10/4. You guys could spend hours going over everything. Why do you think 13 is the number ?

Because I think Capital won't be able to score more than 14. And I'm not sure how Capital even gets to 14 against UWW, really.

Should be interesting this year playing different teams in the playoffs. It will be a good barometer to measure just how good are the Warhawks. Beating the crap out of St. Norberts in the first game obviously would be a lot easier so this will be a new experience to see how UWW matches up against another solid conference. For my money the UWW defense is the best in the last three years but the offense still has a way to go. Hopefully #11 will be ready to kick because he is a real plus for the Warhawks.....if we can pound the rock on Capital it could be a long afternoon for them....Go Warhawks!!!......

This first round game will not be the normal romp over an AQ from a weak sister conference as we have had the last two years.  In fact, it sounded like, from the pod cast, that Pat and Keith thought Capital might be the 2nd strongest team in the North Region.  Just wondering how they were placed at the #7 spot. Probably geography and $$$.  I know their offense has stuggled and if that is the case, they won't recover it at the Perk against the Hawks defense but their defense comes in with some pretty strong numbers.  Hawks will have to bring their A game as this looks to be, not your typical, first round match-up.

best of luck to uwec!!  im glad the wiac finally gets a chance to show the rest of division 3 football why we are always at the top of the list of toughest d3 conferences.  make some noise!!  im confident uwec can do to st. norbert's what uww has done to them in the past.  im kinda hoping concordia upsets bethel too - they dont have a very good past record against wiac teams either...

Warhawk 96

My mind is still spinning............Capital at #7 ??? Oh well, welcome to the Perk "Where Crusaders come to die."

Dont really understand the Capital thing but dont really care either.  They are a # 2 team in their conference and lost to MT Union 37-0 and Otterbein.  They are not the Capital in the past.  The Capital in the past never lost to Otterbein and wouldnt get shut out and spanked by Mt Union.  Im not expecting a close game and not a blow out.  Something like 28-0 or 28-7.  Have fun trying to come to the perk and pull a win off 22 straight.  GOTTA LOVE IT

On a side note the fact that AFCA had St. Johns ranked #2 all season just shows how brutal it has become.  A loss to Bethel what a choke job by the Johns.

I also dont understand the fact that everyone is saying that UWW needs there offense to come through. They are scoring 30 points a game, 210 yards rushing and 176 yards passing.  Thats pretty good to me. Actually if you compare last year where we averaged 36 points per game, rushed for 178 yards per game and passed for 225 a game.  Those are pretty close.
Keep up what your doing Hawks and dont listen to all the idiots.

Capital doesn't have anywhere enough offense to be a threat to Whitewater.  Their defense is very good.  Very similar to Mount Union's.  A little undersized but fast.  Capital's D was the best by far that MUC saw in the regular season, holding them to 286 yards (300 under their average) and scoreless in the 1st quarter (scored more than 250 1st quarter points in the other 9 games).  The Capital D should be a good tune up for Whitewater.

The problem is their offense is just plain bad (or worse) due to injuries.  If Whitewater struggles at all with Capital, a Stagg match-up versus MUC won't be pretty.

The crazy thing is that Capital might is the second best team in this entire region behind WWW.  Case?  You've got to be kidding me.  An average Widener will beat Case on the road.  Franklin, Mt St Joe and Wabash all come from crappy conferences.  North Central from the CCIW is the only team from a conference that could even begin to prepare them for the playoffs, but the CCIW is down this year.  The 2nd OAC team has almost always been the North Region's 2nd best team.  The great part for WWW is that this team (Capital) is really decimated with injuries on O.  Until the NCAA mixed up the regions, I wish counting on MUC winning each North Region game by 30+ points.

I know it's little early to be making plans for December, but if Whitewater isn't in Salem again there should be a congressional investigation.....

Good luck!

Goo 62,
Hawk's O is like a quite storm so thanks for bringing some facts to the discussion.  8) Not super flashy but like I said a few months back, effective and efficient (balanced) are pretty good qualities to have. With a D that coach B said could be better than the last couple of years, makes for a pretty strong argument that they should go deep into the post season. My observation, not criticism, is that the play calling gets to conservative. That may give teams a chance to "feel" that they are still in it. Do love those 30 point spreads at the end of the 3rd to make a statement and add to the game film problems for the next team, footbal gods willing..

KitchenSink

The offense needs to come through - only to the extent that Capital will be counting on its defense to keep them in the game.  They'll be looking for turnovers and short fields, maybe a special teams score.

If Whitewater takes care of the ball and Beaver gets his quota, they'll be in good shape.  But it could be a low scoring game.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!
