DBG, you should hang out with bobhawk a little more.  This is not a capital team of the past, as I stated before.  They lost to  a bad Otterbein team and got blown out by Mt. Union.  They could have the #1 ranked defense truth is there an offensive abortion.  You cant win against the #2 team in the nation without offense.
As for Danny Jones his best game this year was against the #2 defense in the nation, he will be ready to go.  There is probably a reason for a 20 point spread especially by OAC people.  DBG dont get down to bobhawks level.

I would not say I am near his level as I try to bring light to the things the opponent does well.  I think the matchup bodes well for Capital.  It seems to me that their strong rush defense will slow down Beaver after some of his lower outputs of yardage as of late.  It would also look to the UWW defensive backfield on being their weak link on D.  I would not expect UWW ex-players and fans to think they will lose, but I think there is a strong disrespect for a very quality opponent from a conference that is the second best.

Congrats to the 5 UWW CoSIDA All-Region players.  I was plesantly surprised to see some solid academics from the UWW team from their student-athletes.

That's the problem with being as good as Beaver is.  You rush for 190+ yards in one game but it isn't 248 yards because the stats people make a mistake.  You average about 6 yards a carry in the next game when your touches are limited by a coaching staff that's playing your backups in the second quarter.  You do all this against defenses that are playing 8-9 guys within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage specifically to stop you.  Then people say that your output is down like you're not playing well.

Personally, I am going to take the same approach to the Capital game that I had when UWW played MHB... whoever plays better D will win...
But the difference between MHB and Capital is that their O is ranked 178 (out of 231) and MHB is ranked 3... UWW contained MHB O, so I would think that they won't have a problem stopping Capital...

Cap's stud All-American Derek Alexander is gone for the season.

That says it all.... and besides... I have faith in the UWW pass D... which is ranked 16th..

To DBG... Beaver's low output as of late??? he averaged 4.8 vs. Platteville, and 4.4 vs. Stout, 5.7 vs Point... MHB is the only game with a lower yardage...

Hey, Bobo,
I do have a concern regarding the post season pick em's.  Since Pat and Keith will be coming out with their own predictions, on Friday's I believe, seems only fair that the deadline for our pick em's should be before anyone gets that inside info.   Thursday night, maybe?  What does everyone think?

Quote by Keith:

"As Gordon mentioned, there are game-by-game predictions coming Friday. That's been a tradition the past couple years.

Pat, Gordon and I will also look at all four brackets as a whole and list surprises, disappointments and the eventual champ, as has been ATN tradition for as long as I can remember."

Mount fan here, but I'm surprised I haven't seen any Cap posters over here. Congrats on the #1 seed and move to the North. It looks like the Warhawks are putting together a nice little dynasty. WWW should move through this region with limited resistance. If you're like us, it's nice to see some new teams in the playoffs. I suspect St. John's could not be happier as well.

Cap is an outstanding defensive team. They are very athletic with a stud D-line and shut down corner. Their offensive was pretty good until they lost their starting QB and WR to season ending injuries. They just haven't been able to adequately replace these two and their offense has really struggled as a result. Their "D" may keep them in the game but I think they will need a little help in the turnover dept to have a chance to pull it out. I think Cap must keep WWW under 20 points to have a shot at this thing. Had Cap been healthy this could have been a great one.

Thanks for the analysis Shark. We've been hearing the same stuff regarding their defense being strong, but their offense has been struggling late. If they were healthy, it would be a great matchup. however, i doubt UWW and Cap would be playing each other in the first round if Cap was healthy

My thoughts exactly...or, at least not in the 1st round!!

As I just mentioned on the WIAC pickem thread, and due to your heads-up call footballfan413, the deadline for pick's to be submitted (or modified) has been changed to Thursday night 11:59 PM Eastern time, for the first round games, rather than the previously announced time. Everyone still invited to participate.  Check it out.

There sure is a big flap about how EC should not be in the playoffs. Looking at that central bracket, I can see EC walking right through it. In fact I'd bet on them every game. Wonder if that would shut up some of the complainers.

I think you have a very good point, JF.  Wouldn't that be a hoot, a WIAC team winning the West Region Championship three years in a row!  Good luck to UWEC.  They will have to bring more to the table than they brought to the Perk this year, however, but that was early in their season and that was against the Hawks D.   ;D

Then they miraculously upset Mount Union and we have an all WIAC, UWEC vs. UWW Stagg Bowl :) It might just be a fantasy of mine to see that, but a guy can hope.

For a change of pace, does anyone think there will be some coaching changes this off season? I'm thinking Platteville and Oshkosh are possibilities. Kind of wonder how long LAX will tolerate things there also.
yea, possibly platteville and Oshkosh, but i doubt we'll see any change at La Crosse. things were going well at La Crosse until Raebel almost took Moe's head off. They were all down hill from there. Can't really blame the coach for injuries like that.
You guys really think Ackerman won't remove the interim tag from Caoch Cerroni and just give him the job?  Oshkosh's 3rd place finish this season was their highest since 1976.  I guess I was thinking it was a "no-brainer" that Coach Cerroni would get be back, but what do I know.... :-\

That is fine that some Warhawk fans do not think that Capital will show up or play against them well.
We are talking about a team that has 5 losses to Mt. Union (2 of them were ending their playoff run by only 3 points) and has only lost to one other university the past 3 seasons.  With the Warhawk team I saw play this season, there is no way Danny Jones does anything well against this stellar defense that will be harassing him all day long.  I would love to see UWW win for the WIAC, but as I stated earlier (a month or two back), I do not see them getting past the first round of the playoffs.

This year, I would much rather be on the road @ SNC like UWEC than be at home against the #3 defense in the nation.

I cannot beleive the OAC board has the spread at over 20 pts. in this game.

True, but Capital still has to put up points to win. If MHB stuggled to move the ball with the best rushing attack in the country. I doubt Capital can do much better, especially with their #1 receiver and QB out. odds are stacked in UWW's favor.
