Goo, You need to stop running your mouth on here.  You are making the rest of us Proud Warhawk Alums look bad.  I sincerely apologize to any offended St. John fans.  Your program has been among the best for a very long time and I believe it will stay that way.  Until we win the Championship, we will not be considered in the same class.  (finally, there are others that believe Goo needs to sit on his hands)

I agree with you bobhawk. As much as i love UWW football, they are still relatively new to the "national power house" scene. the Johnnies have a history of succeeding in DIII football.

This is a message board and that's his opinion, it may be correct it may not be.  Bottom line is Goo is pointing out that SJU just isn't as good as it has been in the past and  right now isn't a national title contender, which is all true.  Doesn't indicate that they are going to go into the dumps, pretty hard for them to do in that conference, but their success on a national scale may have run its course for awhile.

I've learned a lot about the value of a Bethel vs UW-EC degree and I'm getting pretty well up to date on the status of St John's program but I was wondering...

Does anyone know anything about Wabash?

Well, they are known as the Little Giants.

Did they ever consider being the Wabash Cannonballs?  There was that rather famous song from way back when ...

1st place NCAC (AQ).  Passing offense.  The ball will be in the air again on Saturday.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

The QB has some pretty impressive numbers with nearly a 70% completion rate.

Here's a little Wabash 101 for y'all...

- Wabash has not considered calling themselves the Cannonballs.  Prior to 1904 I believe Wabash teams were know as Cavemen (which is a name that pops up every so often to this day).  In 1904, head coach Francis Cayou (a Native American) took his undersized team (averaged less than 140 lb. per man) and played fiercly against schools like Illinois, Purdue, Indiana, and Notre Dame.  Newspapers took to calling Cayou's team "Little Giants" because of how hard they played the game and the nickname stuck.

- Wabash has never played UW-W.  In fact, Wabash has only played one game against a WIAC school (UW-EC in 1993).

- Wabash is thought of as a pass first offense, but that's not quite the case.  The team prefers to be evenly balanced and Wabash has had success running in the first two rounds.  The strength of the offense is the wide receiver position...Wabash has four senior receivers and all possess very good speed.

- Also watch LB Adi Pynenberg (the other Gagliardi finalist on the field this Saturday).  I think you Wisconsin guys will get a kick out of watching him play...he's an old school fly to the ball and hit you hard kind of LB that is a lot of fun to watch.

I'm available for questions throughout the week.   :)

By the way I just throwing it out there but the St. Johns era is way over.

Too bad nobody at UWW will show up during the playoffs to watch the great run UWW is having.

WW is going to see another short zone passing atttack similar to the last two games. The ball gets spread around (7 receivers).
PASSING  Cmp-Att-Int  Yds  TD  Long  Sack
Matt Hudson   33-46-1  308  5  68  1
I'm pretty positive that teams have given up on the run to set up pass strategy. It's now pass to run. They were really efficient in the red zone last week 5-6.  Wabash loves to rush the QB but our O line will hold up. All WW needs to do is have another balanced O attack and the D will continue it's phenomenal all around play

Nice turnout by the NCC fans at the Perk....welcome back Matt Gifford...what a game by Ogrizovich...Anthony White with good pressure on the QB also

The NCC QB was pretty good, probably the best I have seen at the Perk this year

I expect to see a lot of passing by Wabash this week also...nickel package by the Hawks will see a lot of action

wildcat11 - i think i'll have to disagree with you about nobody showing up. All the students will be back at school for next week's game. there should be a good crowd this week, unlike last week's game.

On a side note, the OCA Pick'em Board has UWW favored by 27.5!!!! that's a little excessive i think. they had Case favored by 17.5 over Wabash and we all know how that turned out.

Wally,

Nice snapshot...I'll add a bit...

- the Wabash QB does have nice numbers and did not become the full time starter until week #4.  He is 6'6 230 lbs.
- the Wabash WRs are very fun to watch, they are athletic, fast, and have good size - 6'2 Russell, 6'4 Rode, 6'2 Banach, etc. - 2 of them were NCAC Conference track champions in the 100 and 200 in successive years - they go get it - http://www.wabash.edu/photo_album/home.cfm?photo_id=4682&photo_album_id=1394
- the Wabash D is most definitely led by 2 time All American, 2-time NCAC D player of the league - Adrian Pynenberg.  He has nearly 160 tackles on the season, 26 TFL, 3 INTs & 8 QB sacks.  He has started all 44 games since his Freshman season.

The OAC page actually had Wabash giving 17.5 points.

Looking forward to the Perk on Saturday!

You might be surprised this weekend. Schools back in, free tickets, most of the deer have been taken, reason to snuggle in the cold, etc.

I am pretty sure Wabash was the 17.5 favorite. Even still, Case covered.
