This is interesting for all who would like a sneak preview of our opponent this weekend.  Wabash vs. Case Western.   Link just posted on the NCAC board.

Going back to the talk of the best players in WIAC history....
I have watched WIAC football for over 15 years, and I these are the few players who I think could TOTALLY take over a game and are probably the best WIACers of the past 10-15 years if not the history of the league:
QB  Krause
RB  Beaver
WR  Burnoski, Stanley
DT  Kleppe--an absolute beast!! (should have won the Gagliardi last yr)
LB  Raebel, Kriewaldt
DB  Beckham, Teeples

There have been many other great players in this league, but these guys could flat out take over a game by themselves.

Cardinaldad .....First like to say met a lot of nice people from North Central this weekend which was nice since we drive up from Chicago each week. As to our center pointing up at the screen, I was told by at least three or four of our players that your guys just love to trashtalk even when they are losing which I guess evokes that type of response. Don't know about late hitting....there were a few during the game but it's football and I believe both sides had their share of cheapshots.....Pound the Rock.....
Sakman - Could be true about the trash talk. I thought I read an earlier post by a UWW person that our players were classy in their defeat. I can't dispute the trash talk since I wasn't out there. From the stands, that action appeared pretty classless. That's my point.

It's all fun and games.  Both teams were probably talking trash because that is what happens.  I would of done the same thing actually I have done the same thing when someone who was losing decided be a smart a$$ and try to keep talking.  I thought it was classier to point and let him know that your losing so please stop talking, instead of telling the guy to his face that your losing so please stop talking.

If football was meant to be classy then players would wear suits and ties but it isn't.  As long as people aren't trying to hurt each purposly, the trash talking and pointing is funny and actually kind of motivating.  It sure seemed that something got you guys going don't you??

Points taken. However, I disagree with your point about football not being meant to be classy. I coached the game for many years. We ALWAYS taught class and dignity. I don't find any of that crap amusing.  Bart Starr, Walter Payton, Roger Staubach, Joe Montana, Joe Greene, Reggie White and players like them will be better remembered for their football than some of the idiots playing today. Players like these guys would just simply kick your butt. Again, I'm sure there was trash talk. We just didn't hear any of it. Their actions were displayed in the way they played. That's what we saw. IMO, class matters!

You got me there on that one coach.  I would like to think that I played the game with a lot of class but also played with a lot of emotions and didn't like the garbage so I took it to a guy every play and then let them know about every now and then.

I think you gotta have Leszczynski in there at the wideouts.   ;D  Looks good to me, but now you got me upset so i'll take the list that didn't make it, play a game and I bet  you my team wins!

For the next game we will have both sides sign an etiquette code of conduct prior to the game.  The code will have specific references discouraging foul language, manly banter and any form of trash talking, no pointing of any kind will be a lesson point. The old Sticks and Stones song will replace the teams fight, I mean, inspirational, song.
Ann Landers, or similar, will be brought in to conduct seminars prior to the game and at half time in the locker rooms.
No emotion will be allowed during the gentlemens match nor the occasional "ass, sorry, I mean rear end, patting for a good job.
Followed after the game no matter how many clips, chop blocks, eye goughing under the fumble pile, spitting on or major late hits on the QB out of bounds (reference NCC hit on Jones) hand holding love fest or singing of Kumbaya, losers, sorry again, I mean non winners choice as long as it is in good taste and NOT ON OUR W.
Deepest Respect Always.

Hooters.

I've got Hooters in Lafayette.  What about something a little more Wisconsin-y that I can't get 7 days a week in Indiana?   :)

Do the Hooters girls wear cheese slices on their heads in Indiana?

I never opened my mouth first during the game, but I never backed down from someone talking trash to me either.  There was always a game or two per year where there was some talk going back and forth.  I can also say, without reservation, it was ALWAYS a great feeling when an opposing player made a good play, decided he was going to start talking trash, and all you had to do was remind him that his team was STILL down 21 points.

I can assure you there was a reason our guy turned to point to the scoreboard after a play.  If you like to talk trash and you are losing by 21 points, you should probably wait until your team gets back into the game before you start running your mouth.

Okay,
First of all Goo say whatever you want it's a message board and it's yur opnion. However facts are facts and St. Johns and Mount Union have won more national titles then Whitewater has in football, and until the Warhawks win one which I believe will be this year, just my gut feeling then they are not one of the top two teams in d3 football history.
As far as the trash talking, it doesn't count unless the referee's see it and falg them for it. Does it happen yeah if you don't want to see people trash talk go watch golf or soccer or some other non contact sport, where there are 22 guys trying to knock the living SH*T out of each other.

It doesn't seem like a hard point to understand, but apparently it is.

Playing hard and "trying to knock the living SH*T out of each other" does not require a player to be vulgar and immature.  Were I a football supporter, which I am, I would not be too eager to encourage all the athletes who behave decently into other sports like golf.

There's a reason Jerry Rice will always be held in higher regard that TO, even if TO were to break every record Rice ever set.

Hey, Jimmy L - Congrats on the IFL championship.  Was at the game vs Muskego - great game.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Nice post and and sorry to crash your board.

I recently heard John Riggins say something very interesting about trash talking.  He was talking about the great rivalry the Redskins had with the Cowboys back in the 80's.  He referenced today's trash talking that is prevalent and simply said this "When I played the Cowboys I never said a word to any of them during the game and I don't recall any of them ever having anything to say to me".  Those were great players in a fierce rivalry and they let their actions on the field do their talking for them.  Today's players could certainly learn a lesson from this.

BTW, it's going to take a lot more than one title for any D3 team to be compared with what Mount Union has accomplished.

Best of luck and we hope to see you in Salem.

BTW, one of the greatest trash talkers of all time was Michael Jordan. He abused people and let them know both before and after he did it. I don't think anyone ever thought of him as classless.
