Old Indian I don't know what Raebel's 40 is and from what I am told he hasn't run one since high school......but I can tell you he ran down two MHB ball carriers from behind in the first game and that is really all that matters. Borzich is an example of another player who gave up Division 1 as a fullback to play linebacker in Division 3......

NOT at all buying a 4.2 40 by any football player in D3.   There is such a huge difference from a coach timing an athlete with a hand held stop watch as compared to them getting officially timed at a combine or pro day.. In most cases they use an electronic timing system which totally eliminates the possibility of human error.  Lets just remember Adrian Peterson ran a true 4.39 and 4.40 at the NFL combine, and we all know how fast he is..  So to say the MHB back runs in the 4.2-4.3 range is quite hilarious..    One more thing.. NO athlete in Texas or any other state declines D1 offers to play football out of high school..   WW 28-7..
All I know is that the 10.89 he ran in the state track meet wen divided out averages to 4.356/ 40 yards, and if he gets free in the secondary there are generally 11 defensive players looking at his number.

Exactly, and the first part of that would be the slowest. Let's give him a break and say he may run around 4.4 at the best.

Just some research for you guys.
At last year's NFL combine, the fastest 40 time was 4.30 by Yamon Figurs of K-State.
The world record holder in the 60-yard dash ran the 40 in 4.38.

When considering forty times, you have to consider the surface and timing mechanism.   It's one thing to run a 4.2 on a rubber track with your coach holding the stopwatch; it's another to do it for real.

I turned down a Division I scholarship at Wisconsin to play at the D-III level.  It wasn't so much a position thing like Mt. Union's quarterback.  It wasn't me not liking Alvarez as much as it was me loving Berezowitz, so Whitewater was a slam dunk for me.  We all have our reasons.

My best 40 ever was a 4.79.  I can also do 100 pushups in 5 minutes.

Express, I see you're on here. Jr. is coming down Sat. to go to the game.

The 10.89 he ran in high school was in shorts and shirt I would guess. Even if he was that fast in track gear, the football pads will slow you down somewhat, and if a defender can take the correct angle, he can negate straight line speed.

none of those times are legit except state times

Suffice it to say that Thrasher is fast.  Personally, I don't really care exactly how fast it is because I know it's fast enough to cause problems if he's not contained and that's all that really matters.   We were able to do that the first time and doing it again will be a key.

Actually Quincy Daniels has been the topic of conversation, though I understand Jarvis Thrasher has some pretty good wheels as well. You have to love the name - Thrasher. It would make a good linebacker name.

I have to agree with badgerwarhawk, it doesn't matter how fast a back might be, he has to have some room in order to utilize the speed. No hole, no go.

In the first match-up running yardage did not come easy for either team. It should be very interesting on Saturday. It sounds like ice skates might be the most effective footwear.

My last 40 was timed with a sun dail.

Daniels, Thrasher...whatever.  You got the point.  ;)

You need a calendar to time my 40.   :)

+1 to both of you because I understand.  They're still timing my 40 from when I was in high school.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Who cares what there 40 times are we wont get to see it anyways.  We might not even get to see their 20 times.  For the record I think Daniels is better than Thrasher even though I think he is the younger back.

And there is no way he runs under a 4.3.  No way.  Maybe if Corky from life goes on is timing him.
