In general, I have noticed more reserved posting this go-around from the ASC board.  Guess being on the wrong end of a monkey stomp will do that to you but I have been reading on the Daily Dose and, apparantly, MHB and their QB just had a bad day last Oct.  The turnovers were actually gifts from Welch with the Hawks D having nothing to do with it. This time they will just run it down our throats.  Seriously, I expect that the Cru will absolutely come to play on Saturday and the Hawks had better come out with guns blazing on both sides of the ball. Beating a team twice in a year is tough.  Need to get up on them early.  Will the weather affect the game, I believe more so for the Cru as will the long travel for the 2nd week in a row.  That is why it's called home field advantage.  If everyone does their job, the Hawks seniors will have another game to play!

Update:

The field is ready.  It's been relined and painted and sits under a tarp currently covered with 4-6 inches of snow.  The snow will probably be removed tomorrow and the tarp will remain until Saturday morning.  Right now it was described as "soft" by those who have walked on it.  The weather system is now being predicted for later in the afternoon and it's looking like game time might only be cold and windy.  I don't think it's going to be a frozen tundra.

So I guess you're saying that someone who is fast and cannot catch a cold is better than someone like Lance Alworth (sorry, I'm an old fart) who could catch just about everything he touched. Somewhere in the back of my mind tells me that one has to possess the ball in order for a pass to be completed. I might be wrong about this but I doubt it.

All Im saying is just being able to catch the ball isnt all that matters anymore.  You have to be able to do something with it after that.  Anybody these days can catch a ball.  Its what you do with after that counts.  Ok old man river

Historically a "soft" field in the WIAC during the playoffs has meant something that could best be described as a cross between the mud in a cow pasture and the slop in a pig pen.  Good thing both teams like to run.  Best of luck to the Warhawks ;D ;D

Glad to see the board is back to normal.  Retangent you must be joking.  Speed is all that matters, you cant teach speed.  Look at all the top WR in the NFL they are all extremely fast.  They run good routes cause they were taught too by the best coaches in the world.
As for Stanley and Talton both extremely fast but at much at it hurts me to say this Garcon is faster than both.  Although I have never seen an athlete as quick or as athletic as Stanley straight away I would have to give it to Garcon.

Thrasher or Daniels who cares how fast they are we wont see it on Saturday unless they are chasing a defensive player after a TO.

Which Talton are we talking about here Travis or Anthony??

I'm talking Travis, however I saw Anthony also.

So was I,  not sure when GOO saw them play and if he did if he was old enough to have an informed opinion on his speed,  yes old farts could run fast back in the day too

Interview with St. Louis Rams coach, there's a CHANCE Stanley could be brought up from the practice squad this week or next to handle returns as Hall was put on IR.

What would be really cool is if he was activated and played in the PACKERS game.

I'm not even 50% sure on this, but I thought Tony Beckham ran a 4.2 something in his combine 40.  After that run, he didn't run another.
I may not have much to say, but I'll say it anyway.

YOU KNOW IT!!!!

J44

Tony Beckam from Stout ran a 4.36 and 4.33 at the NFL combine.   He was the fastest guy I have ever seen play in my 30+ years.

I am going to counter all the talk about UMHB not being ready for the cold weather by reiterating something that was already said in another thread.

I understand from reading the posts of the UWW fans that you practice indoors when it is cold and snowing/wet, etc.  As a HS football coach, I understand that sometimes that is not always a bad thing, especially when you are introducing an opponent early in the week.  It provides a little bit more of a "classroom" setting if you will.  However, once the gameplan is in and you know your opponent, it is good to get outside and run through it as close to game speed as possible (makes it more familiar and comfortable once you get to the game).  With better weather in Texas, UMHB has been able to do that.

Now another factor to take into effect is the aspect that it is the 14th week of the season and any team still playing not only can practice very well, but is used to game speed and doesn't need to see it as much.

I think there could be pros and cons to both situations.

And for the record I don't think the cold will affect UMHB too much if any more than UWW.  Field conditions would have the largest effect, and since UMHB passes less than UWW (in our normal gameplan) than if anything, the cold/wet weather might effect UWW more.
Beaver was held to under 100 yds and the UWW passing game was working very nicely to open it up.  If UWW is not able to pass as well, doesn't that make you more one-dimensional???

I have not seen any other UWW game except for UMHB and last year's Stagg Bowl so I could be wrong here, but it is just some food for thought.

Comments...?

The conditions can't get much worse than it was last week. Cold, thick snow and windy, and Danny Jones still threw for four touchdowns on 9-15 passing. The weather won't effect him at all tomorrow.
