D O.C.

J. Beaver already had impressed me in the 45-42 win in Mc Minnville a few years ago but a couple of things in the Stagg stick with me:
a.)   at the end of a 45 yard run when he lowered his shoulder to set a db flying
b.)   at the end of a 66 yard run, after he was hit hard, he stretched while flying through the air for a couple of more yards
WW may miss him the most but Division III football fans thank him for the effort and entertainment.

OK fine Farley is on there you got me.  But do you honestly think that Raebel is a second team all american or borzick should get nothing.  What about one all american olineman for the best RB in the nation and he was a second teamer.  CMON.  7 first team all americans from Mt union and 2 from UWW.  UNREAL if you ask me

raiderfan1983

I don't think that you can compare the number of All-Americans and say that UWW got shafted.  Saying that because MUC got 7 and UWW had 2 means that UWW somehow got screwed doesn't make sense.  All-Americans are recognized for their indiviual numbers and play on the field.  The fact that MUC has more All-Americans than UWW means nothing.  You guys have the real prize.  If you are willing to trade that national title for a few All-Americans, I'm sure that the guys on Mount will be more than happy to make a deal.
They should have practiced harder.

Back from a cold, wet trip to Salem.

Congratulations to the Warhawks. You deserved this one. As a Mount fan, I have no excuses and felt that UWW was simply the better team on Saturday. It was simply a great effort on both sides of the ball, especially in the trenches. Beaver was a beast and clearly validated his position as the best player in D3 football this year.

A national championship is quite an achievements resulting from months of hard work by players and staff......enjoy it...you deserved it! Congratulations!

Wanted to say congrats to all of those associated with the UWW program.  I enjoyed watching the game so much that I almost forgot it was cold and raining!

UWW totally dominated the score board throughout the entire game and never let MUC back in, although to their credit they did keep fighting back.

A couple things I noticed about MUC from playing against them in '04 and watching them the past two years--

Their defensive front is not as big and physical as years past.

Not quite as much team speed.

I was not that impressed with MUC quarterback play.  Not sure how much of it was directly due to the UWW defense and gameplan.

MUC offensive line was completely controlled by the UWW defensive front.  Kmic had nowhere to run.  Only a couple times was he able to get some significant yardage and they were "hard yards".

Thanks again to Stone Station!!! They out did themselves from last year!!!  Can't wait to come back next year but hopefully watch the Cru this time.
YOU KNOW IT!!!!

Goo, if you listen to the very end of the wrap up podcast on the Daily Dose, interestingly enough, Gordon Mann said he thought Warhawk fans would crow when seeing the D3 All-Americans. I went away from it thinking he thought the Warhawks were, in my words, getting screwed.

Possibly Whitewater leads the entire game and wins by 10 because they played more as a team and less like a bunch of individuals.

What an amazing ride this march to the national title has been.  Congratulations to the 2007 National Championship Warhawks!     You are, without a doubt, the best team in D-3.  You won with grit, teamwork and above all, CLASS!  The 3rd installment of the Warhawks finished the bizz but it started in 05!  That team and their coaching staff taught themselves and the rest of the D3 community that they could, indeed, play at the elite level and the 07 version completed the task on Saturday!  What a special group of 23 seniors this is and what a hell of a way to go out!  And some people said, (mostly MUC posters,)  that a 3rd match up of these two teams would be boring!   ;)  Jimmy, Jake, Derek, Pete, Max, Robb and CP, Ryan, Travis, Eric, Alex and Tony, are just a few of the guys that helped this team grow and helped pave the way to this National Championship.  How fitting that Kleppe and Rueland will wear one more ring as assistant coaches of this team and it will be gold! Thank you to Coach Brez and Coach Zweifel who along with Coach Borland recruited and assembled this amazing group of players 4-5 years ago that have become the greatest football team in UWW history!
Wanted to recognize the past but on to the 07 team.  You, Gentleman,  were stellar on and off the field.  From a California QB who wanted to live his dream and had the courage to make it happen to a RB that showed the nation what all the, "hoopla" was about.  The lines dominated on both sides of the ball and  what do we say about the DEFENSE! They shut down the playmakers and held the most potent offense in D3 this year to a mere fraction of the point total that they were accustomed to.  Congats to Borland, Simpson and the rest of the D staff.  You had a great game plan and the talent to execute it.  To Coach Leipold and Coach Zebrowsk who brought a new look, you have been a fantstic addition to this team. Probably the catalyst that got us over the hump.  I felt all along that a win on Saturday was absolutely possible because of 3 things.  I felt we brought a better defense, at the very least more aggressive, a QB who was a double threat and a different coaching staff than the Raiders had delt with in the past.  I will be honest.  Did I believe that this is where we would be at the beginning of the season, no.  But I knew, despite graduating some irreplaceable talent, that a strong nucleus remained and that if the defense could give the offense time to click,  keeping us in the W column through the learning curve that anything was possible.  Your, "refuse to lose," attitude displayed at UWLC was the defining moment for this team, IMHO.  Even more so than the loss to St. Cloud.  That and the way the offense and defense learned that day that they could count on each other. You became one unit that day and Danny must have know that he had truly become a WARHAWK.   You absolutely left no doubt on Saturday.  We will all have memories to last a lifetime.  Enjoy it Hawks and the Warhawk family thanks you all!

AND THAT IS WHY THEY PLAY THE GAME!!!   2007 NATIONAL CHAMPS     UWW WARHAWKS!
"Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!"  Dennis Miller

life." Paul Dietzel / LSU

You guys are so funny.  All Im saying is that I find it hard to believe that with the best RB in the country there is only one guy who deserves an all american status. And second team at that.  And Raebel and Borzick should be recognized for their outstanding individual play.  And they didnt and got screwed.

Pat Coleman

I am sorry that you think that you can't be an outstanding individual and still be the fourth-best linebacker out of about 750 starting linebackers in Division III.

I'd like to congatulate Adam Samrov, who before the season in the D3 Kickoff picked UWW to win it all.  The other 5 experts, uh..., prognosticators, uh..., website contributors (don't worry, we still love you guys here in Wisconsin) thought it would be another coronation of Mt Union.

Close, but no cigar.  Pat C does get an attaboy for predicting Justin Beaver as offensive player of the year.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Mr.Shoes

Congrats Warhawks! Way to bring the title back to the west region. After watching you play in St. Cloud, I was less than impressed. After watching you play in Salem, I'm very impressed. That was an excellent game.
Nice day, huh?

I posted some of this on the OAC board, but just wanted to say congrats to WW for a great win on Saturday.  They certainly played at another level than we saw in '05 and '06.  Offensive play-calling, a tough and mobile QB, and a D-line and linebackers (#97 and #50 were fantastic) made all the difference.  If Mount is going to lose, I am glad it's to a team that made "third time the charm".

And FF413......most knowledgeable Mount fans thought it would be a tough game, and only said it was "boring" because we had played WW the last two years.  It was not a comment about WW's skill.

Congrats again......and now the target can be on YOUR backs!   ;)
