Here is my thoughts on all-american linebackers .......Freeman from MHB is phenomenal as is Raebel.....Did you notice how many times MU ran to Raebel's side of the field.....not many. I don't know about the lb from Wilkes but I can comment on the Wabash linebacker who is a very solid player which I have said before but as I commented before any guy on UWW would tell you he wouldn't have started this year or last year for Whitewater......like I said don't mean to disparage him but it would be hard to reconcile how he is a first team guy if he couldn't start for our team.....I realize noone will ever agree with every all-american pick but that one seems somewhat odd in speaking for Whitewater supporters....

Pat, loved the post.  Thought it hit the nail on the head.

Yeah, I know...troublemaker.
There are no thought crimes in America but I do not have to ask this question but it is a legitimate question at any sports level.

Does anyone have insight into who made the play calls for WW with a minute and a half left in the Stagg Bowl game?

Beaver just ran like a champ for 66 yards to the MUC 4..
He was given the ball on the first play (which may mean he was not tired) and got 2 yards.
The Qb then tried 3 straight "sneaks" until WW scored causing some controversy.

At the risk of being too oblique on a football board, did Jones call his own number three times in a row?
It was going to be that offensive line that won the day no matter who had the ball across the line.

Have an enjoyable winter. Off to Hawaii myself.  8)

Well, 1 handoff got f'ed up during the game, so ...  And they've done sneaks from point blank all year.

According to the Janesville Gazette, the Perk will have FieldTurf for next season.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

I guess a botched handoff could be a concern...but I was wondering the same thing myself.

I agree but you got the people wrong Borzick is a top 4 LB and Raebel is a top 2.  No comment on the OLine either.  I know Beaver is great but one Olineman recognized for a guy who rushed for almost 2500 yards seems a little silly.

As it was brought to my attention.  Raebel was a pre season 1st team but because of his play he must of dropped in your eyes to 2nd team.  He looked pretty good to me all year.

Pat, I'm not really all that hung up on who gets All American status and I appreciate the difficultly in selecting the team.  There are a lot of good players.   And I certainly mean no disrespect to either you, your staff or the website in general.

But anyone who thinks that Pynenberg is a better linebacker than Raebel or Borsnik, even Rindahl, is simply mistaken and I don't care what the numbers say.   I'm with Goo on this one.  He could have played for us but he wouldn't have started ahead of any of the linebackers we've put on the field the past three years.

But, again, it doesn't concern me that much, and no matter who you pick there will always be someone who disagrees.   Thanks for all the information you've brought us this year and for making this site available.  I enjoy it a great deal.

Goo,
Let's face it Whitewater gets no respect. If it's not Mt. Union no one cares in division three. Just watching the game on TV you could tell MT. Union this,Mt. Union that. Larry Kehres this,Larry Kehres that. They get beat and the team that beat them gets no respect.
On another note congrats to Lacrosse defensive coordinator Mike Durnin as he was recently named head coach at Luther college. I am not sure who the other finalists were however I did hear on this board that Stan Zweifel was one of them. I can't believe that such a great coach has not gotten a head coaching job yet.

I am so happy to see the UWW got over the Mountain and to the National Championship Trophy of walnut and bronze.  What a prize for a team that looked very solid on Saturday.  I have been tough on UWW all season and was very skeptical that they could win against a team that does not make mistakes.  Well we found out they did make mistakes and UWW did not play mistake free, but still had a huge win.
I would like to congratulate all UWW players on this big win.
The little I saw of the game in the fourth quarter, I must say that the other coach K should be fired for his poor sportsmanship and terrible antics for running onto the field and arguing a no-call.  What a joke he is.

Way to go UWW

I must say I am with Goo again on the All-American team.  I do not know how some players were passed up, but this is a disagreement that cannot be won.

Quotethe team that beat them gets no respect.

Just not true.

Also, impossible for a committee to sit down at the gun and discuss "OK, season or add special weight in today's game?" and have the team announced literally seconds later.

Back to the 3 sneaks...a 3 point lead with 1:40 to play dictates conservatively eliminating a hand-off, I suppose. Just wondering whose decision.

Congratulations.  You won a national title and still found something to complain about.  As for "Mount Union this and Mount Union that, Larry Kehres this, Larry Kehres that..."

If Whitewater and Lance go 260-21-3 (well, I guess they can't tie anymore) and win nine national titles over the next 22 seasons, I promise, it'll be all Whitewater.  Good luck.

Even though I don't agree with some of the all-american picks I am with badgerwarhawk in thanking d3 football for a great job in 2007. You guys should be commended.....
