Anytime you see a player from Tri State on an all-American team the entire team has got to be a little suspect. :)

If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Goo,
Let's face it Whitewater gets no respect. If it's not Mt. Union no one cares in division three. Just watching the game on TV you could tell MT. Union this,Mt. Union that. Larry Kehres this,Larry Kehres that. They get beat and the team that beat them gets no respect.

Congratulations.  You won a national title and still found something to complain about.  As for "Mount Union this and Mount Union that, Larry Kehres this, Larry Kehres that..."

If Whitewater and Lance go 260-21-3 (well, I guess they can't tie anymore) and win nine national titles over the next 22 seasons, I promise, it'll be all Whitewater.  Good luck.

Perhaps I'm missing this lack of respect thing, but I've seen nothing but MUC posters coming over here and congratulating the Warhawks on a well-earned national championship.  Of course the national press is going to be all about Mount Union leading up to the game.  They have accomplished things over LK's coaching tenure that no other team at any level has done.  If anything, beating Mount Union in the title game garners more respect than beating another team.  Not trying to be a homer in this post, and I realize that I am probably coming off that way, but Mount has dominated D3 for so long that they are obviously going to get the press.  You guys certainly have the respect of the Raider team and its fans after a great win on Saturday afternoon.  Don't forget, this is a Mount team that many (myself included) considered to be the best ever before Saturday.  Congrats once again on a great season.
They should have practiced harder.

Geez, You guys would bitch if your ice cream was cold. I was going to wait for a week before getting back to using the needle, but you make it so hard.

Goo. I'll announce my All America team now. The UWW Warhawks. ARE YOU HAPPY NOW? Give us a rest.

A big plus to Toph for getting it right. I had to listen in 2000 and 2003 to the same stuff about MUC. Thing is, they've earned all the accolades they get, and it takes a long time to enumerate them. I don't like it either, but when you earn it, you deserve it. Success is it's own reward.

Also, I will go on record saying that I would be greatly surprised if UWW could go undefeated again (in D-III) next year. When SJU lost B. Elliott, J. Hood, C. MacCambridge, R. Keating after 2003, they went 7 - 3 in 2004. You can reload, but it's just next to impossible to replace players like J. Beaver, D. Jones, B Ramsier, A. J. Raebel, T Borzick, O Griz et. al. with players of equal ability. Especially since they will be replaced with first year starters.

I read raiderfan1983's post after I posted mine. Amazing how great minds think alike. + to you '83

As long as we're on the topic of respect...

I have a highly reliable source who indicated that prior to the game MUC players were seen verbally intimidating Warhawk players.  The behavior became so bad the referees ordered the MUC players back as their coaching staff stood by and made no attempt to bring order to the situation.

I would assume you mean TRYING to intimidate Warhawk players ...
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Dusty,

I noticed the MUC players were pretty quiet after the game.  Particularly the one we most wanted to shut up.  ;)

Quotethe team that beat them gets no respect.

Just not true.

Also, impossible for a committee to sit down at the gun and discuss "OK, season or add special weight in today's game?" and have the team announced literally seconds later.

Or, as in this case, two hours before the game. Only the Player and Coach of the Year were held until afterward.

Yes, it happened just as you described when the Warhawks were huddling in the center of the field after running out getting fired up.  We all saw it in the stands.  And another situation happened that has already been mentioned on here by a poster before.   Several of the Raiders were seen flipping off the Warhawks at the Friday luncheon.  Doubt LK knows about that one but pretty sure that he will at some time.  I know he would never accept that behavior but their arrogance had the opposite effect on the Hawks.  Maybe if this had been their first rodeo but they weren't going to let any of that crap get into their heads this time around.

Sorry, I try and stay far away from all the negative posting but all of that and #1 refusing to shake hands, it all starts to add up.  Every team does their share of trash talking but I have never seen it be so blatantly obvious as a spectator before and come from so many members of one team.

Particulary enjoyed #17 ( a back up waterboy) on MU jawing hard at the WW sidelines right before kick off and then getting clocked by # ? on WW during the play.  Wonder how he felt looking up at the clouds with a few of his teeth rattling around his mouth.  ;D

The obscene gestures have me really questioning how the MUC program is being operated.  Combine their obvious boorish behavior with assistant coach Kerhes' outburst near the end of the game and you've got a pretty clear picture of whats taking place.

Isolated incidents are one thing however there seems to be a consistent pattern here.

I was referring to how the announcers on ESPN were always talking about MUC,and very little about Whitewater. It gets boring especially when the team thats getting all the hype is getting beat by 17-00. When your down by 17 pts who cares if you score 56 points a game.
The taunting and attempts to intimidate the Warhawks was funny. I have even been told that LK had to make whitewaters favorite Raider Piere "The bodyslammer" Garcone shake the warhawks hands afterwards.
As far as the all american team. Normally it's the best teams that have the most on 1st team. However there are so many teams that it's hard to see which one is the best. I feel that the AFCA is as it's voted on by the coaches and not the media.
