Look at a map. Mankato (and Winona) have the best locations in the newly revised Northern Sun Conference:  Twin Cities, Chicago, Iowa, Wisconsin, Souix Falls, Omaha, and Tri Cities all within reasonable distances  Have you been on campus?  Not shabby by any means. 

Leipold has done the phone inverview already and is among the finalists (Bemidji State and Wayne State head men are two others.)

Earlier this morning St. Thomas listed their finalists and OC (Zab???) from UWW is among them, along with Glen Caruso, one-time OC at UWEC.

The Vikings also had/have their camp at Minnesota State - Mankato, so I would assume the facilities are top notch.

Perhaps another draw could be that Mankato has D-1 intentions ala North Dakota State and South Dakota.

They already are D-1 in hockey and I have heard their basketball set-up is outstanding.

Lots of money around with Glen Taylor involved.

Again?!?!  How many times does a guy have to do this before it sticks?

And on LL, why wouldn't he be looking?  Things can only go down for WW with so much talent leaving this year.  And, as it was pretty much the same core talent that lost the previous two Staggs, a reasonable claim can be made that it was the coach what made the difference this year.

For likely this year only he can push a theme of being a 'deal closer'.  A guy who can push the excellent to be a little better still.  That can be worth a lot of money, or if money isn't the issue then a lot of leverage in creating a lifestyle.

The question isn't so much is LL going, but if the OC goes as well to St Thomas, then who will UWW replace the coaches with?  If they haven't started looking already, where will they find any talent in time to save next season?

Stealth, stoutguy is neither old, tired or irrelevant. You don't seem to get his humor, but I do. He is a good friend of mine.

I know where he is coming from on this "rumor" because I was there too hearing it from a very solid source.

Besides, what's the off season without at least one good rumor to speculate about.

When you said "ideal" I thought it was funny as in facilities "ideally" not being used in the post season.

...re-wind 1 year & the naysayers were chirping the same little melody.  In other words, it's déjà vu all over again!!...and, OJ, we all know what happened between last year at this time and now.  Only time will tell if there's enough talent in the cupboard to re-load...again.

Mankato St. is more than a step down.   

Mankato might be below WW in your opinion, but I would still think it's got more than a few legs in front of Drake or for agrument sake, Saginaw Valley State (maybe a push) where two of his playoff coaching rivals have drifted off to find "a new beginning."

Obviously, WW has it all going on now.

But I think back to that LAX game, and how LAX grabbed defeat from the jaws of victory.

The Warhawks refused to lose and didn't, in that game or the whole season.

Whitewater has a solid national program in place. Changes in coaches won't matter for 2-4 years, one way or the other.
