Bobo-Your right it's minority internships, not minor internships. I do not have the stats of how many of them that turn into jobs in the NFL. However I know of two coaches one who coaches with the Raiders and one who worked with the Browns for three years who served internships.

And both of them were former UWW coaches?

Side note:
The Patriots OC played WR for John Carrol U. (OAC) in the mid-late 90s.  He is from DIII, but I don't think he did any coaching at the DIII level.

I never said that they were both UWW coaches. i just said that they served internships in the NFL,and eventually got jobs in the NFL because of it.

Don't think that Hawks fans think that this win is going to send any coaches to the NFL but one thing seems to be for sure, programs are head hunting a few of our guys at the D-III as well as the D-II level. I smiled as well at dawarhawksrocks reference to the NFL at first and then I realized that he is referring to LB Coach Simpson's 2 minority internships with the Packers where he has, indeed, coached in the NFL during the off season.  His comment becomes less, (but only slightly,) outragous when that fact is considered.  But it is always nice to have a MUC fan making sure our heads don't get too big.   ::) ;D

I checked out the coaching roster for both the Browns and Raiders and could only find 1 coach (Raiders Curtis Fuller, Quality Control - Special Teams) with internship experience.  Upon reading further, I discovered the internship was a business internship with Frito-Lay.  I wonder if quality control in the chip making business is similar to coaching quality control to a bunch of professional athletes with a chip on their shoulders?  :D

Is it just me, or does that MUC fan you speak of, 413, usually go by the name kirasdad? ;) haha

Bobo- What do expect from a MUC fan. I mean the two stagg bowls the Hawks lost you never saw one of their assistant coaches going nuts and running on the field after the officials.
Yes I was referring to coach Simpsons internships with the Packers in 2006 and the Cowboys in 2007.
Do I think one national championship is going to get him into the NFL. No however his work ethic most likely will.

Kira & Jaxon's Dad

No problem with big heads, just thought that I hadn't heard of many coaches jumping from DIII directly to the NFL, let alone based on Stagg Bowl Victories.

Also, I was ashamed of the behavior of Vince Kehres after that last scoring drive by UWW.  But, he is young and we all make mistakes.  Hopefully he can learn from the experience.  He hasn't experienced much failure in football (playing or coaching) so didn't have much to draw on, still not an excuse for the action.

OAC board is slow, so I like to slum ;) it over here every so often.  I will have to point out that it took you getting a former MTU grad on your staff before you were able to beat the Raiders...

Congrats to a great year and enjoy the championship.

I think most often it is "who you know" to get you foot in the door at the NFL level.  The Patriots OC (Josh MacDaniels) ended up being a Grad. Asst. for Nick Saben at MSU prior to going to the Pats.

Oh, I also have a connection to UWW as my sister and brother-in-law graduated from UWW in 1996.

da'rock, was former UWW player Eric Studesville one of the guys you were talking about going through the NFL Minority Fellowship Program & then getting a full-time assistant coach position?  warhawkfootball.com has a couple paragraphs about him getting a promotion with the Buffalo Bills. I guess in Studesville case, going from the MFP directly to a NFL position, the program seemed to work for him. He never coached in D3, but it's still pretty close to what you were saying. There has to be a few others I would think.  Good going!!

Normally, I would leave this all alone but it has been pretty quiet in here so what the heck.  Let's have some fun.   ;)

I appreciate your calling VK on his embarassing behavior.  But to qualify it because of his age, (isn't he atleast 30?) or his having a legitimate beef, (as others have implied,) I find rediculous.  It was one of the most unprofessional actions I have ever seen by a coach, storming the field and yelling obscenities at a ref.  (Doesn't take a professional lip reader when you watch the broadcast.)  You didn't see a UWW coach behave unprofessionally when Kmic ran around the outside scoring MUC's first TD when a blatant hold on Anthony White was not called. That game was full of non-calls on both sides and these two resulted in TD's for both teams.

Also, love that a MUC fan wants to point out that it took a MUC grad to beat them.  Absolutely, the coaching changes contributed to this teams ability to finish the business and Z gets credit for his contibutions but I think it mainly took an outstanding defensive performance and game plan, great effort by the Hawks lines winning the LOS and the new look QB as well as an amazing RB performance.  The best game plan in the world won't get you squat without the talent to execute it.

I do appreciate your congratulations though!

Maybe that will light up the board a little!    ;) :D ;D

I thought maybe Coach Z slipped on #32 jersey, and switched off with #99 or #50 - except when it was a kicking situation.  Then he wore #43 or #11, or #1 to make the return.

He may have been out there with #75 on - or maybe that was him wearing #73 holding up that ball in the end zone.  That HAD to be him covering Garcon.

I'm sure Z went over to coach Borland and told him all the plays MUC would run, and in what order they would be.  And where all of the punts would land.  And who do you think told LL to dress for a rainy day?  Bingo.

I hope that clears all of this up.  Thanks for coming, you may now return to your regularly scheduled program.

What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

just gonna throw this out there... this is the worst snow storm I have ever seen... I mean, I'm only 20.. but damn... I have a 4.5 foot snow drift outside of my apartment...

BoBo

March 1993, living in Orange County New York, a nor'easter brought 36" of snow over a 2 day blizzard...snow drifts completely covered cars.  It was memorable because I was moving overseas 4 days later and it took 3 days to get my car dug out.  I'll never forget it.

There's only one way to find out if a man is honest...ask him. If he says 'yes,' you know he is a crook.

I'm sorry stealth, my penguins are not some novelty act that make backyard appearances...they are a highly trained and choreographed troupe of professional performers, raised since birth to complete their destiny. They are quite popular with elementary school groups, day care centers, assisted living facilities, corporate functions, bar mitzvah's and college freshman orientations.  I'm currently booking for the 2010 season.  Call 1-800-penguin to speak to one of our sales representatives today.  Group rates and senior discounts available.   8)

I wonder how Danny Jones is doing in this storm.  He must be wondering about now, "What was I thinking?"  But then............. he does have a National Championship to keep him warm!   ;)
