Just trying to get some talking going...

Just got back from the NFL Pro Day at the McClain Center in Madison where eight WIAC players worked out for NFL scouts on Wednesday afternoon.

Justin Beaver certainly caught the attention of the scouts including Packers' GM Ted Thompson.

Still waiting for his times etc verfied, but a couple of numbers to give you a feel of how well he did.

40  -  4.41  -  Compare that number to the 10th best runner at the recent NFL Combine of 4.48
Bench Press - 24 reps  -  Compare that to the 24 lifts by the 10th best runner at the NFL Combine

His other unofficial numbers also show very favorable with the top group of running backs that worked out at the NFL Combine.

AJ Raeble was hindered somewhat today with a broken thumb.  Brady Ramseier also worked out today for the NFL scouts.  Another former Warhawk - Trey Bell also worked out in an attempt to get another look by NFL teams.  Three years ago he blew out his achilles tendon just a week before his Pro Day following his UWW career.

It sounds like Justin did pretty well for himself. His 40 time most likely puts him between 6-8 place in the top ten from the Combine. His bench press is also pretty good.
The thumb injury may hurt Raebel,as the nfl is a little bit weird about injuries and everything. However you turn on a film and watch him this year, and you come away saying WOW. Especially that lacrosse game. I still just turn that one play on,and I get a head ache.

There's only one way to find out if a man is honest...ask him. If he says 'yes,' you know he is a crook.

From what I hear, Brady Ramseier ran about a 5.1 on his first 40. Then on the second pulled his hamstring again (he hurt it about a couple weeks ago). He fought through it and when told me he actually impressed some people when they asked about it......he also said that Beaver tore it up out there in Madison.

I did not know that UWW had a lacrosse team, nor that Raebel played lacrosse. I assume he's a defenseman.

Just to clarify I was referring to the game against UW-Lacrosse game and when A.J. put a kill shot on that poor QB from Lacrosse. After watching it for the 50000th time. I am convinced that it was a shot to the head, but it wasn't called so I guess it didn't look like one in the eyes of the officials.

Does Lacrosse have a lacrosse team?

OzJ, the UW-L Lacrosse Club is a "virtual varsity" club that is a member of the United States Lacrosse Intercollegiate Association (USLIA) and plays in the Upper Midwest Lacrosse League (UMLL).  They have about 25 members, most of whom had never played lacrosse before joining.

I've seen them.  They have T-shirts that say "La Crosse Lacrosse"  I always thought that was funny.

Any word on a new OC at UWO since Rethman is gone?

Just talked to Beaver....What a day he had yesterday!!  40 yd - 4.41, Bench - 24 reps at 225, 3 cone drill - 6.7 (higher than any RB at the combine in Indy), pro agility - 3.9, and a 33 on his vert.  His agent said one of the most impressive combines he has seen, and that his phone hasn't stopped ringing all day!! Beaver you better keep draft weekend open for a DRAFT PARTY!!

oshfb

At a gas station yesterday I saw on the front page of the Journal Sentinal a link showing they had an article about the WIAC pro day...Did anyone get a chance to read? Or know the link to the online article...I cant seem to find it.

Thanks

My guess would be that "The Beav" will not be drafted. More than one team, however, will pursue him as a Free Agent. His size will probably be the factor that will allow most teams to take a pass on him. The NFL is stuck in a mindset that says they won't "waste" a Draft Choice on a D III player, since they will be able to get him cheaply into camp and take a look at him that way. It has always bothered me that being able to Play The Game matters so little. I have alluded to this before, but maybe not here, that this happens in all sports, and I notice it in hockey all too often. Guys like Gionta, St Louis, et. al. always have a giant strike against them because of their size. It isn't enough to prove that you were able to compete against the same players that are in the NHL in college or juniors. Makes no sense to me, but they make the big bucks, so they must know what they're doing. Bu!!$#1t
