Does Lange still do his Elvis impression?  I felt bad for Lange when he did that.  I am 100% sure that he will die from the embarassment he puts himself under when he does that.

Most classic and commonly heard Lange quote: "It's a good thing I drove downtown.  I'm too drunk to walk home."

Derek Stanley added another first place finish in a last chance meet at UW-W with a season best 23-4 in the long jump which also improved his provisional qualifying.  Only time will tell if he improved his distance enough to get to nationals.

Stanley qualified and is seeded 9th (tie) of 14 jumpers. His previous jump of 23 feet would not have been good enough. Congrats to Stanley.

Men's long jump begins at 1 p.m. on Friday at Ohio Northern. Stanley is the sixth jumper in Flight 1. The top nine in prelims make it to the finals later in the day.

+k many times over to the team that put together the National Champinship Banquet. Classy would be the word I would use. Great sight was watching Andy Miller pacing in the back of the room like a proud papa.
5 out of 10 on the Rolaids food scale. Not bad for 450+ stomachs. Man football players can eat. Some of them had enough on thier plates to start a famine releif effort in 5 countries. Did I smell Bailies Irish Cream at table #44 in the coffee  ;D
Much respect to the Boar for thier hospitality. They even allowed a small Purple Haze tribute. Ah the clouded memories !!
The Stealths had to stop at WalMart on the way out of town and purchase an additional swag transport bag. Tom Hughes had some great items on display and for sale. The bookstore was packed. I tired to talk Mrs Stealth into a #1 Warhawk thong but had to settle for more sweat pants, shirts and hats. Not enough Purple Haze I'm guessing.   :'(
The rings are amazing. #1 proudly displayed. Please players don't smack someone with one of those on. The evidence will be overwhelming. My sources at MUC said thiers has a small #2 in the middle because " First Place Lossers" wouldn't fit.  ;D

Bobo,
Stealth condolences to the penguins. Where do we send cases of smelt and squid to the relatives in lieu of flowers ?

thanks, stealth, you always have a kind word for the boys...be assured, they may be gone, but they are still in our hearts...however, news of their death maybe a bit premature, don't be surprised to see them again very soon!!  +K in 24 hours

I have been told by former players from Mount Union that if they did not win the national title they don't have a banquet. Nor are they even given conference championship rings when they don't win it all. So i doubt they will be getting any rings. Not to mention the warhawkls the lastt wo years have said national runners up.because " First Place Lossers" wouldn't fit.
Just what I have been told by several former players from Mount Union college it shows you how serious winning it all is to the boys at MUC.

If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Yep - just saw it.  Looks pretty good.

And I bet it feels great on a finger.    8)

I had a great time at the banquet.  As a completely washed up ex-athlete, who was washed up when I started playing as a freshman, it felt good to go back to UWW with my pops and enjoy the event.  To think, I almost went to Carthage.

At my table was Geoff Stuhr, a freshman WR on the team, along with his family.  Geoff went to my high school (Franklin High School) and graduated in 2007 after winning the state championship in the 2006 season.  Also at our table was Brian Gensrick.  Brian played for Homestead, a rival high school of the school I coached at.  Brian won a state championship at Homestead in 2005.  These two guys were busy comparing their high school state championship rings to their national championship rings.  I just looked my my fingers and picked at my hang nails.  No jewerly for the Captain.

Also, sitting directly behind me at the banquet was freshman defensive linemen Wesley Hicks.  I had the pleasure of beating Wesley up everyday at wrestling practice at Milwaukee Vincent.  It was good to go back, and see the future of the program and to talk to these guys at length, and to still feel closely involved with the Warhawk program.

Good luck to Geoff, Brian, and Wesley.  National Champs in 2008!!

I think we all need to set that picture as our avitar.  Anyone more technically advanced than I am, (not hard to be,) want to share how to do it?  BoBo?  I am sure that the penguins wouldn't mind sacrificing their PP face time for such a special photo.

I guess hockey just takes too many different skills for you cheeseheads to master. I know that you have trouble walking and chewing gum at the same time.

No, not really.  I had that mastered by eighth grade.  Now skating and chewing gum that's a different story.  That I never could figure out.
