NFLdraftscout A.J. Raebel news [he made the front page].  Patriots (asked how they could get a hold of him on draft day), Jacksonville, Miami, St. Louis, and Baltimore have showed the most interest.  Ran a solid 4.67 40 at the Pro Day.  He said three key attributes will play to his favor on draft day..."I've got the height, the weight, and the speed."  The story was written by Barry Bottino of the Northwest Herald.  It also said Beaver and Ramseier, as well as Raebel have a fair chance of being in NFL camps (written by Chad Reuter of NFLdraftscout).

In the Pro Day Leaderboard, Beaver currently has the second fastest shuttle time and eighth quickest 3-cone drill time.  The other D3 player listed is Lenny Trusnik from Ohio Northern, T16 in the 225lb bench press reps.  When looking at the list, not many of the "big" names are there making me wonder the importance NFL scouting departments place in these categories.  Any thoughts from the board?

I believe that Justin will absolutely be in an NFL camp and might warrant a late 7th round draft pick depending on if some teams already have drafted the positions they need.....here's the only tough part about Beaver is that he never was given the chance at WW to play a significant role on special teams like Derek Stanley did.....by getting experience on special teams, Derek proved to be more versatile and I believe more NFL teams are more willing to go with a guy who has played as a Wide Receiver, Kick Returner, Running Back, Defensive Back, Punt Gunner than a guy who has only played RB....granted, i'm comparing apples to oranges, because they play two different positions, but I think with the tools that Justin had, it was stupid of the coaches not to put him on Special Teams more.....not saying that he couldn't do that at the NFL level, because I think he can, but it's unfamiliar territory for him
As a reminder about putting your special player on special teams, remember Wabash, who let their senior QB, Dustin Huff, on the "hands" team for an on-side kickoff against Franklin in the opening game last year. He had just set Wabash records for passing yards and total offense in the game and on the kickoff, broke his leg. He was next seen in the blizzard at Whitewater and, to be charitable, was rusty. 2 ints in the first three series, 3 Whitewater scores, and it was all over but the snow. A caveat for the unwary.

The word around town is that Stan Zweifel has been hired as the offensive coordinator at DII U.M.-Mankato State.   Good luck Stan.
If it's true good luck Stan. I will miss seeing and hearing him in the UWRF press box as he was up their last fall when they played UW-W.

My bad, I didn't mean to imply is was a rumor.   It's definitely happening.

Ex-WIAC coach (Eau Claire) Todd Hoffner, who most recently has been Ed Meierdort's (ex-WIAC, Stout) offensive coordinator at the University of South Dakota, was recently named head coach at Mankato State.   Obviously he's familiar with Z.

Hoffner did a pretty decent job at EC and took them to a conference championship before leaving.

Z at Mankato for sure, article Beloit paper. Also, Simpson to Neb. Omaha as line coach and special teams coordinator.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Hi all,

This is a very good article about Jeremiah Homuth, a former high school football star quarterback who lost his arm in combat in Afghanistan.  I bring it here because he is the high school teammate of Brad Kalsow who plays wide receiver for UW-Stevens Point.  Kalsow's older brother Jason was a star basketball player for UWSP as well.  Brad Kalsow is mentioned in the article.

Announced on Mankato website...so it must be official now.

Next question up for bids...how long will it be before the young offspring transfers to Mankato?

I could not be happier for Coach Z and I am so glad that his move is up to the next level.  Seems he lost no ground this last year being away from the gridiron.  He had a huge hand in putting together the teams that took us on such a ride the last three years.  Congrats and the best of luck to him.

Happy for Simpson as well but sorry to see the program lose him.  He captained one of the best linebacking corps in D-3, IMHO, the last 3 years.

I have heard sports broadcasters say in the past that it is only about 10-20% of the equation, that ultimately, they are just a bunch of guys in t-shirts and shorts.  Teams put much more importance on film and how they play with pads on.

It has been funny listening to people talk about me or comment about my situation negatively when you have no idea who i am or have no idea why i left. i enjoyed my time at CLU met alot of good people/friends who i am still friends with today and they know why i left. basically i dont care what you say because i dont know you or care about you.  but thanks to all the people who stood up for me when i couldnt stand up for myself and had a bunch of people hiding behind there computers. sweet life guys!
by the way this is danny jones. do you like the screename??

Personally I have no comment on this one due to a mutual friend who speaks highly of the transfer.

So the DOC that just posted on the SCIAC was your twin poster ?
This came from you.

Wow!

UWW9champ has only one post and no negative karma as of 5:50 PM PDT. Amazing.

That post was one of the most bizarre posts I've seen out West since PC covered three football games in one day and then banished me for ten days.
