I read this at another fan site:  "Saw a picture of Owen (Schmitt) and some friends from River Falls who went up to his party (at his grandfather's house in Gilman) on Sunday.  Owen greeted them wearing a UWRF T-shirt.  The guy never forgets where he came from and the people who helped him get to where he's going.  After hanging up from Mike Holmgren's call, he said, "I guess that's as close to being a Packer as I'll get'."

The article above is still current, but requires clicking on (1) sports and then (2) Seahawks.

Let's be clear.
I never said Justin wouldn't recover.
I never said he wouldn't make the NFL.

I simply said that having a "draft party" for a guy who is unlikely to be drafted was an asinine idea, and the person who came up with it should apologize to Justin.

Old Indian, I like to tell it how it is.  You're a douche bag.
There's only one way to find out if a man is honest...ask him. If he says 'yes,' you know he is a crook.

Sorry to point out flaws, but its pretty easy to see why no NFL team used a draft pick on Beaver because

a) size - not the typical NFL RB size

b) injury history.

However, Beaver is going to try with a team that has plenty of RB's who IMO shouldn't be starters in the NFL (Side note : Ryan Grant = Dorsey Levens, maybe 2 good years. Maybe).

I think Beaver might make the team, and who knows , with some luck get some playing time. I know its a long shot, but he does have unbelievable talent for a football player that has been through so much.

He'll have to be able to play special teams to stick in the NFL.  The main thing this weekend is to make a favorable enough impression that you are invited back in July.

The same can be said for me with D-I College Football.

Did you hear that the BCS shot down a 4 team play-off? Honestly, it's like the NCAA is choosing money making then competition.

I hope everyone will enjoy Ohio State in the National Championship Game for the 3rd straight year...

Great news coming out of WHITEWATER today regarding the funding of the field turf projects (Perkins & Prucha) and the continued development of athletic complex.  I imagine they'll post something on the athletic department's website later this afternoon.  Check it out.  If you're a WARHAWKGUY you're going to like it.

Nice story about Beaver in the WSJ today:

And just to be clear: Although Beaver was working out with another local-boy-making-good, University of Wisconsin punter and Green Bay-area native Ken DeBauche, on Wednesday — as the two have been doing for awhile now — the Packers' interest in both players is more than just a public-relations stunt.

"We don't waste people's time — his or ours — with stuff like that," Thompson said. "We wanted to take a look at him. That's it. The fact that he's a Wisconsin guy is nice, but it has nothing to do with what we do.

"We just thought it was a great chance to bring him up here and see how he looks in a Packer uniform."

The NCAA doesn't have a hand in this. It's the schools that run the show in "I-A" football.

Indian,

Here's what Justin Beaver had to say about the draft.

"I wasn't expecting to get drafted, I just wanted to get a shot and that's exactly what happened."

I guess it's fortunate that he has a much stronger emotional makeup than yourself.
