Brian -
You beat me to the punch on this; I was going to provide links to the two stories in today's paper, but...

Lots of great memories for me as a kid who grew up three blocks away from Memorial Field during the Jerry Augustine and Joel Williams eras, when they were "Indians," and not Eagles...

Heard about what yet?. I hope that the bills give Justin a chance, he is a star athlete and has worked for everything he has achieved. Which is not always the case as a lot of star athletes are handed things on silver platters not having to work very hard for it. However Justin is the exception to the rule.

WestCoast Coach

You must have misunderstood my questioon. Best of luck to Justin and all his endeavors. He is a real talented athlete it appears. What I was asking was in regards to this upcoming football season. I have heard that their is a D-1 Running Back who has transfered to Whitewater. I was asking has anyone else heard about this?

msubeavers

I haven't heard anything about that. If it has happen I wonder if the kid called Lance and told him he wants to win a national title.
With all of the players who have graduated we will see how good of a job the new staff at Whitewater can do,as they took over a program with a full load of talent, and since the majority of that talent has graduated the coaches will have their hands full to see if the Hawks can continue their championship tradation of the past three years,of course they also have to find another game.

This doesn't have anything to do with football, but I was on the UWW Campus a few weeks ago and noticed a very high number of physically disabled students there. Is there a concerted effort to  recruit these students, or is the campus one that is "friendly" for these individuals to navigate? Either way, or even if it is a coincidence, kudos to UWW for allowing all people to pursue their education.

retagent, I would think (I may be wrong) that not many schools have a Wheelchair Athletics and Recreation program more extensive than at WW.  You make the call, but I think they go a long way to make the campus accomodating to all students especially those students with a disability.

you just have to look at WW's men's wheelchair basketball team to get a basic idea.... I think they have won 3 of the past 5 national championships... dont quote me though.. also, they are starting a women's team in the upcoming school year i believe...

Thanks for the feedback. I had heard, but forgotten about the wheelchair BBall teams success. Again, kudos to UWW.

Yes, it is a concerted effort.   We have a very friendly campus and several programs designed for the disabled student.  It's something that the university has worked hard at for a number of years.  We've been a leader in the UW system.

And our men's wheelchair basketball team rocks.   They've won several national championships.  I can confirm that we will have a women's team next year.

This is a short story about a girl from Hoboken NJ who accepted a scholarship to play wheelchair basketball at Alabama, UWW is mentioned in the article.

Here is some off season football news to get the board going. Just read on another board, (second hand info,)  that Lindy's 2008 Football Preview is out and they have ranked the top two teams as follows:

  MUC   #1
  UW-W  #2

Guess old habits are hard to break.   ;D  Haven't seen it myself but I trust the posting source.  I am sure it is because of our graduating 23 seniors that have been the biggest part of the run the last 3 years but last year the Hawks dropped in many polls below #2 despite being National Runner-Up because of the graduating talent of 06 and new coaching staff and we all know how that turned out.  Seemed to weather that season of transition pretty well.    ;)
