Congrats to River Falls wide out Michael Zweifel for being named a Consensus Draft Service DIII pre-season All-American.

To be totally accurate and complete for WIAC boys, Zweifel and UWW's Jeff Schebler were honorable mention selections, while Jeremy Roach of Oshkosh was a second team pick.  Here's the story from the River Falls Journal.  Don't have to register - just click Sports off the menu on the left of your screen and page down to the story.

BTW, besides this article, anybody out there ever heard of Consensus Draft Services?  :-\  Here's their complete pre-season list.

Thanks for the update BoBo.  For some reason I wasn't able to find the complete list on their website yesterday and I didn't want to register on the RFJ's site.

I'd never heard of them either.

Based on that list, bw, I am going out on a limb by saying today that it will be Principia vs Wesley for the national championship.

For crying out loud, for Pete's sake (or anyother euphemism that exists), what a joke of a list - Principia and Wesley have more 1st and 2nd teamers than Mount Union.

Mr. Downtown

OH...Roach is on that list as a kick returner.

Was going to say, that its a bit early to think he's that good of a running back.

To all the Wesley supporters I say KABOOM, KABOOM, KABOOM, KABOOM.   ;)

I hope you were up on the hill when you said that!!
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

BoBo

Can't wait for the Don Hanson pre-season all-american team - all eight thousand names of it - now there's a list to take stock in!!  ;)  :D  ;D

KABOOM - must be the echo in here!!

They also have Chad Arlt from "Adolphus" listed as a WR. The Chad Arlt I know is at Gustavus Adolphus, which you might abbreviate as Gustavus, not Adolphus. And if they can't get that right, it leaves everything else in doubt, as many have already opined.

Actually, Jeff is on that list as a left-footer; so this all seems right.

USA TODAY Sports Weekly has MUC, Wesley (one of my pre-season favorites for the Stagg Bowl), UW-Whitewater listed 1, 2, and 3 in their pre-season rankings, this courtesy of The Capital Times.  As of this time, I haven't been able to determine the pre-season ranking of my other pre-season favorite for the Stagg Bowl, Principia.  More on this developing story later...

EDIT:  BTW, Eau Claire was 15th!!

How anyone can rank Wesley ahead of us is unfathomable.   How many times to do we have to monkey stomp them?  ???    So far I haven't seen a Wesley team that could play .500 in the WIAC.

I think that the "Wesley" issue plays into team match-ups.  You have seen how much trouble that UMHB has given UWW.  There is great respect between those two teams.

On the other hand, Wesley has given UMHB fits.

All this is true but neither team has ever beaten UWW. Respect is there because they played a team close that we played close but cmon now, that's a huge jump to go from playing someone close who almost beat the national champions to being better than the national champions. Maybe it's because of all the seniors we lost................

Not sure what Beaver, Raebel, Jones, Stanley, Ramseier, Sakellaris, Schmitt, Kleppe et al did in 2006 and 2007 has ANY bearing on 2008, guys.

Didn't we hear the same kind of argument prior to last season - it went somewhat like this:

"Not sure what Stanley, Sakellaris, Schmitt and Kleppe et al did in 2005 and 2006 has any bearing on 2007, guys." Oh, well, been there, done that so to speak.  ;)

Is it just me, or does that list of names you are using keeps growing and growing and growing and growing each year...kind of has the building blocks of something bigger....humm, my guess, there are still others from the current crop to be added to that list that will keep the thing rolling!!

I guess the UWW fans should take it as a compliment though - losing all they did and still ending up as high as 3rd on this pre-season rankings.  Any other team (except for a certain school in Ohio) losing as much talent as this would have entered this ranking in the receiving votes section.  Someone out there making those rankings must still think a little somthing is left in the tank or they wouldn't have made such a decision.
