Why don't you spend more time trying to bring back your stupid penguins

Bring back my stupid penquins?  It might be in our best interests.

Yes, obviously that Pat Coleman guy knows nothing about Division III football.

Keep in mind it's a 2008 ranking, not a 2007 ranking or a 2006 ranking.

Pat, I understand your position and though it's unfathomable to me how anyone ranks Wesley ahead of us under any circumstances I concede that you know more about DIII football than the sum total of everyone else that I know.   Besides if preseason predictions meant anything the Tampa Bay Buccaneer would have 4 or 5 Super Bowl Championships so it isn't worth getting excited about.

From your previous comments I deduced that graduation losses were a factor in your evaluations so I was wondering whether Wesley graduated anyone of significance.  Because the Wesley teams we've seen, and I concede that exposure is limited but it's all we have to go by, have been so bad that we could have beaten them with our scout team.

Lost Michael Clarke and Bryan Robinson, but no other stars. Got their MLB back from injury.

And recall, you didn't play Wesley last year either. You're basing your opinion of Wesley on games from 2005 and 2006. That'd be like predicting the 2005 Stagg Bowl based on a 40-17 loss to Mount Union in 2003.

I have quite a bit of respect for Pat's knowledge of D3 football but on this one I can't even come close to any rationale that could place Wesley ahead of the Warhawks. We lost a lot of key players the last two seasons and it will make no difference this year if they play Wesley again.....simply because Wesley does not belong on the same field as Whitewater or Mount Union. Whitewater has coming in this year possibly it's best recruiting class along with a few key transfers and they will handle losing seniors from their championship season with little effect in my opinion. The only result Wesley can hope for is to curtail the canon after Warhawk TDs and they will accomplish that by whining not defense.....

Oh well. That's why we have unbiased people to do rankings. :)

Mr. Ypsi

And why d3 is superior to d1, because rankings don't ultimately matter! ;)

Replacing Danny Jones and Justin Beaver should be easy tasks.

I'm sure that's your intent, but how do you ever, really, know for sure?  Are all poll voters independently-"thinking" robots?  People will be people!!

I share your optimism, sakman, but I don't think it's that easy to predict how a bunch of recruits (no matter how good) and transfers are going to perform in the period of Sept-Dec. when it's only July. The same kind of sentiment was discussed last year at this time. How many of those exciting freshman saw the field? Transfers? A couple (a couple good ones, but still only a couple). Same probably will happen this year. It takes a few years to truly evaluate their impact as contributors. It does provide strength in depth - the difference between re-building and re-loading.  With the guru moving to the upper mid-west, maybe we will see a more westward-leaning bias out of PC as well.  What do you think PC?

Those guys were special (as the whole D3 world know), as were the other losses, but anybody who knows anything about the warhawks know they weren't the only cups in the cupboard. You don't replace guys like that. You just hope the guys following them can come in and improve upon the examples they set and keep raising the bar and the distance between them and the warhawks nearest competitor.

Let's just see how Wesley does with it's schedule this year.  They only have 3 home games and really struggled last year with 2 home wins by slim margins and both losses at home.  If they get by after 4 games at 4-0, I'll then be a believer.
I may not have much to say, but I'll say it anyway.

Oh, by the way, I do like the size of their offensive line.  290+

Maybe that's why they're playing most of their games on the road?   ;) :D ;D

Well, true -- but this ranking is one person's opinion.

The regular season poll is 25 people evenly split throughout the country to try to blend out each voter's bias.
