Stanley played some db at Ram's practice today.

So, tell me flash, what is your read into this development?

From all indications, STLToday and the Rams Official Website, say don't blow things out of proportion.  For example, one thing said was:

That man wearing a white jersey with no number was none other than Derek Stanley. Because of a shortage of defensive backs, Stanley shifted to defense and played corner. It is certainly not a permanent shift, Linehan wanted to be clear.

Furthermore, in the story written by Bill Coats, it said that "Linehan said he tabbed Stanley because he's such a great athlete and has played the position before."

However, if Coach Linehan ever needs an extra DB, DS is going to have to improve according to Nick's Notes because "...Stanley got beat badly by rookie Keenan Burton on a deep ball."  All-pro's get beaten on long balls from time to time, but I think we all know what the writer was trying to express. Showing he has some ability to play multiple positions can only be a positive, IMHO.

What's up with teams in the WIAC this year.  We'll find out this afternoon at WIAC Media Day at the Kohl Center in Madison.  A full update will be posted late this afternoon.

By the way - teams report to practice this weekend and haven't had a post in here in two days. Now that is embarassing! :'(

voice, just wondering when you might be updating with additional photographs of the turf installation? I have enjoyed viewing the progress. Has the work crew finished laying the turf and started the lettering, numbering, hash marks, etc ?  Also, any idea why Pete Schmitt decided to walk away from the Redskins camp?

Have to like Eau Claire head coach Todd Glaser's comments to Bryan Watson about the rankings made by the conference SID's:

"I'm not worried about Whitewater. I've seen a lot of SID's and they can't walk and chew gum at the same time."

He wasn't speaking about EC's SID, who apparently, was the only SID playing homer and voting for his own team.  :D  ;D

I can't speak for Voice regarding updating the photo of the turf installation but I was up there yesterday so I can speak as to it's status.

The field turf is all laid except for one tiny piece in the southwest corner.  There is some stiching that still needs to be done and it still needs to be trimmed and secured to the concrete curb.  Treated wood is attached to the inside edge of the concrete curb and the turf will be secured to that.

The hash marks, sideline yardlines and yard numbers have all been cut out and are awaiting the installation of white colored turf.  No sign yet of the WARHAWK logo at midfield and/or any lettering in the end zones.

There's a little bit of sod work on the south and southwest ends of the stadium that is not yet completed and it looks like there's some concrete that still needs to be poured in that corner.  The goal posts still need to be installed.

They've begun building the brick pillars that will frame the new entrance.

Don't know why Pete decided to hang it up.  I suspect he simply decided to move on with his life.

Perhaps Todd's comments will find their way to a locker room bulletin board.  :D

Todd Glaser's comment about "a lot of SIDs ... can't walk and chew gun at the same time" was made totally in jest. He was actually doing a "mini-roast" about retired, longtime EC SID Tim Peterman who was in attendance at Media Day. He was not making the comment as a diss to the WIAC's SIDs.   Most of the coaches did refer to SID preseason poll's in past years have not fallen in line with the way the teams finish each year.  I think every coach in America makes similar comments at their respective Media Day press conferences.  Glaser's "I'm not worried about Whitewater" comment was in relation to his team hasn't even arrived in camp yet.  Many other worries for a coach at this time of the year than his team's game-two opponent.

Come on, Voice, why are you raining on a good controversy?    ;D  ;)

Hey BoBo, Maybe Pete didn't get along with the 'Skins Offensive Coordinator. Based on comments by, mostly Johnnies, on the MIACPP, he's not held in high esteem.

Pat Coleman

Chris Meidt? He's the quarterbacks coach, not offensive coordinator.

I think he is "officially" the OC (or at least that's what I heard watching the Redskins/Bills game out of Joe Theisman's - rhymes with Heisman - mouth) but that Zorn does that job in actuality, and Meidt handles the QB's. I could be wrong, but that won't stop me. Or maybe I should cite a more reliable source.

Ok, LAX fans.  How long does Coach Terry have if he has another mediocre year?  I'm thinking that the LAX faithful are going to start losing their patience...........

UWL's season records for the past 8 years under LT:

2007      5-4
2006      9-2    playoff second round loss at UWW
2005      5-4
2004    *7-4    playoff second round loss at eventual Champ Linfield
2003    *10-2  playoff second round loss at Mount Union
2002    *7-4    playoff first round loss at Coe
2001      4-6
2000      7-3
_________
TOTAL 54-29 .651
*Conference Champion

As for winning percentage, you can see what La Crosse has done during Terry's tenure.  La X's overall win percentage is .691 - not a huge drop off.

Mediocre? Unlikely
Inconsistant?  Probably
Competitive? Absolutely
Outlook? Positive

Just one persons opinion...interested to hear what others have to think.

I said early last year I would be wanting him out were I a LAX fan. I feel like he has taken the program down right from the start and it's past time for a change. The value of my opinion in the grand scheme of things?.....zero.
