Kira & Jaxon's Dad

I think Eric Brewster played for the Gophers last year.  Don't know if he was on scholarship, or if he got to go free cause Dad was a school employee, or was a true walk on.

I think that was Clint Brewster...the younger brother QB that transferred

Hate to beat the dead horse a bit but I don't mean to crap on anyone's conference. I just don't respect anything that Carthage does administratively. I don't respect ANYONE who is not good to the people that are good to them. This has nothing to do with Wheaton or North Central. It's just my point of view of one school.

You'll have to try to get a Carthage guy if you want more info - I've already told you as much as I know!  I believe the president thinks that publics have an unfair advantage in recruiting (tuition), but check with more knowledgable folks.
Carthage DID originally exist in west-central Illinois, but since the move was over 40 years ago, I can't really explain their preference for Chicagoland players rather than Wisky.

This one never flies with me.  Having been through the recruiting process years ago, there was plenty of, "academic money, wink-wink," thrown around by the private schools cutting their list price, (as much as half in some instances.)  Public schools don't have that luxury or that kind of bank roll.

I'm still paying my wife's student loans, going on 15 years later. There's no joke about the cost of a private school education.
Of course not, Pat.  There is no joke about the price of a year of college tuition at any school these days.  No offense meant but the point of my post is that while the yearly price of a public college tuition is less than the price of a private college tuition, it is not as much as many would like you to believe in many cases.  Not when the $29 thousand plus yearly tag  becomes $15 to $18 thousand in reality on a regular basis.  I have watched it happen many times.

Clarification:  I am referring to the listed price of a year of tuition AND room and board for an incoming freshman.

This is a point I've made on several boards whenever someone is griping about the unfair advantage of publics ("WIAC oughta be d2", etc.).  While there are far too many different schools and variables to make blanket statements, athletes (and/or their parents) will usually pay less at a public, BUT the difference is usually far less than the difference in 'list prices' would suggest.

According to Wikipedia (not always true):

Oldest son Eric is a wide receiver at Northern Arizona University

I was trying to research information about Eric Brewster, but something about this is puzzling.  The pre-season roster for the Warhawks lists Eric Brewster as coming from Port Washington. I only know of 3 Port Washington's - NY, OH and of course WI, just north of Milwaukee. Because it doesn't list the state I have to think the roster refers to Port Washington, Wisconsin because it doesn't list the state name for WI cities/high schools. However, when looking at the current Northern Arizona roster, there isn't a player not from the far west or the far, far, west (Hawaii). Of course, the 2007 roster cannot be found, but I'm thinking, how likely is Eric Brewster, from the midwest or east - not from the west like every other current player.  Does anybody know where he played his high school ball. I was thinking maybe in the San Diego or Denver areas, where his dad was coaching with the Chargers and later the Broncos around the time he would have graduated from high school. The Port Washington thing really throws me for a loop. I realize in the grand scheme of things, it's not that important, but I was just trying to find out some previous stats on him.  The Northern Arizona site doesn't really have anything noteworthy that I was able to uncover.

Oooo...  The roster intrigue at UWW continues...  I'm beginning to think there may be something rotten in Denmark...

Here is Eric Brewster from Port Washington.

He's a discus tosser from the Hawkeyes.

He was a second team o-lineman in the Wiscy High School North Shore conference.

I don't see him on any Hawkeye football rosters, so it looks like he may be a bit out of practice.  But I think it may be possible, despite the incredibly infinitesimal likelihood, he has the same name as one of Tim Brewster's kids.  (Doesn't explain the Tim Brewster t-shirt though.  Mind fake?)

First, we had 2 Rob Perry's from Whitefish Bay Dominican, now 2 Eric Brewster's - when will it ever end?

If we can just find the second Justin Beaver from Palmyra and the second Danny Jones from California, then we'll be in business!

Those of you who haven't yet been on the WIAC pick'em thread -
AND YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE -
should go now to sign-up. Costs nothing to participate, except maybe a little weekly humiliation and a lot of pride at the end of the season.  natecook59 has graciously agreed to serve as Administrator, Commissioner, or Guru - oops, scratch that - this place only has room for one Guru - or whatever title he wants, for the second year running.  Thanks natecook59.

Intriguing.......come to think of it, I only saw the top part of the t-shirt in the interview (i.e., "Tim Brewster, Minnesota")...maybe there was more to it...like "is not my father!"  :D

Bobo, San Diego would be correct for the Northern Arizona Eric Brewster

Thanks to Nate for taking on the duties another year.  We would enjoy having some new blood compete this year.  How about it Barber Greene, SheckDiesel, racinewarhawk91, AAholder, etc?  Should prove to be an interesting year in the WIAC with a lot of new names and faces for the Warhawks and the Eagles having a lot to prove after last year's implosion,  Will Stout become the Stout of old after having a year to right the ship and how will the Blugolds handle the heavy weight of expectation and having a target on their backs?  And there is always my nemesis, Platteville, who is the most unpredictable team of all, IMO.  I start off doubting them and they win and then when I start to believe, they stumble!  Got my juices going already.  Game on, Gentleman.  The more, the merrier! ;)
