Thanks to all for the wishes.  We are a new school, but I've got some athletes.  Just looking for some O Lineman.  We are just North of the Tampa area where most people call "Cow Country".  Not quite the Cornfields of DeKalb, IL but much more rural than Hillsboro and Pinellas counties.

I think we'll surprise some teams this year (trying not to be too optimistic).

Hey I hope Coach Novak is doing well in his retirement (Didn't you say you knew him?)....I think the Huskies have at least an even chance of beating the Golden Goofers this weekend.

Coach Novak officially retired from NIU at the end of June I think ("worked" for the Athletic Dept).  He and his wife had a house built in NC on an inland waterway and are enjoying the good liffe.

I think they just had an off year last year.  Had lots of injuries.  Coach Kill (Great FB Coaching Name) should be well off and ready to go.  They even open with the Golden Gophers this weekend and may have a chance.

Interesting side note; Jay Sawvel, the DB and ST coach at NIU, played LB for MTU's 1993 Nat'l Champ. Team.
National Champions - 13: 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2012, 2015, 2017

Coach Novak is a fine man. I wish him the best.

voice, Derek Stanley gets a little more action tonight as the Rams and Chiefs squared off:

Kickoff Returns           No     AVG        TD        LG
D. Stanley                 4       20.8         0        23

He's also had 2 attempted passes thrown to him, both incomplete, however.

Chiefs win the (exhibition) Battle of Missouri 21-17.

It sounds like Stanley, Marques Hagans, Brandon Williams, Reche Caldwell, are competing for two roster spots.  Derek's ability on special teams is a definite asset. If the Rams do put Stanley on waivers, look for another team to pick him up.

Voice, I doubt the Rams are going to carry 8 receivers.   Typically, NFL teams carry five or six.
These five are locks: Holt, Avery, Burton, Bennett, Hall
That leaves one spot available for the four you mentioned plus Looker.

Does anyone know if Whitewater's National Championship trophy is out for display somewhere in the Williams Center? I wouldn't mind taking a peek at it prior to next friday's game.

The trophy is currently on display in the lobby of the Student Athletic Complex.  All UW-Whitewater National Championship Trophies are also displayed in Williams Center outside of Paul Plinske's  office.  That display is currently being updated to include the '07 football champions.

KitchenSink

I offered to keep the trophy safe in my basement, but they haven't called me back.

Woulda saved them the effort of re-working their display.   ;)
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

UW-Platteville, UW-River Falls, UW-Stevens Point and UW-Stout fans are missing out on Kickoff. In fact, UW-Stout has a decent presence on this board but hasn't purchased Kickoff since 2005!

I endorse this as well.  Come on, guys - stop surfing for pictures of Alaska's governor, and start reading Kickoff!
