With this big a crowd, I wouldn't be surprised to see a log jam at the top at the end of only 10 weeks.

That's going to be the problem, I believe...we'll have a 2 class social pecking order - not only those in the top end, like you suggest ff413, but those playing the caboose, too.  With the WIAC games, say, worth 2 points and a national/region game worth 1 point, we're still placing the emphasis in the right area - on the conference games - but we add the bonus point when it is earned, not at the end of the season. The intent of the bonus game is to create more chances for seperation between the players in the contest, something I think will create a little more interest (i.e. talking points) between players.  And it might even influence guys to go out on a limb more when making picks rather than just doing what everyone else is doing.  No fun in that.

Oh, and one more thing about the bonus games - it's not like the added game is going to feature a couple bottom-dwellers that nobody has ever heard of in these parts. Big games involve only big names - I think everyone is capable of handling the pressure.

How about nominating a WIAC game of the week each week where everyone nominates an over/under number?  The game doesn't have to be the biggest game, just name any game and require the over/under guess.  Closest cumulative over/under difference at the end of the season is the tie-breaker, if needed.

That way Flash doesn't need to take an extra five minutes out of his hang-over recovery cycle and we can all go back to using the toilet for what it's really for - reading the sports pages. :D

Warhawk 96

HOW SWEET IS THE PURPLE BRICK ROAD!!!!! awww man, I wish I could be there for the opener now. I cannot believe they actually painted warhawk drive purple. What a dramatic change from the atmosphere and culture of 5 years ago.

On another note, good luck finding a new team D-Stan, we're all still proud of ya.

Now that we are T-4.75 days until opening night at Perkins Stadium, who do you guys feel is in line to become the starting RB in the UWW backfield - will it be Anderson? Or will it be one of the hyped-transfers or freshmen? I'm rather surprised we haven't heard much chatter about that considering the large [turf] shoes they are going to have to replace.

All you have to do is ask bobo. Voice has an article up on warhawkfootball.com right now.

I saw CJ Miller play at Verona High School...quite impressed with his quickness and speed

Get him out in space and he is hard to catch....say, punt returns, screen passes, sweeps, etc.

I have a personal fondness for the 2 back system myself.  When a team has the speed, quickness and illusiveness of a Justin Beaver or Chad Worth and a great OL, it becomes less necessary to worry about fooling a defense regarding who will get the ball.  Just tee it up and dare teams to stop the running game.  Been a luxery for the Warhawks the last couple of years.  However,  having the talent of a great power back like the very talented Collin Burns, for example, along with your speedy back makes your running game more two dimensional.  I prefer the later.

Just wondering, though, if any of the heralded transfers, like Dennis Void or maybe the freshman from Illinois that has been talked about on here might also be included in the playing time mix. I noticed the story on the news wire only mentioned Anderson and the two madison boys.  Maybe, that was intentional.  We'll see in a few days.

Saw this on the Iowa board:

Saw the scrimmage at UW-Platteville and it was run just like a game for the first 8-10 possessions.
Wartburg did NOT get a first down and looked completely overmatched on offense.  A few mistakes by the Wartburg defense gave UWP 2 touchdowns and field goal.  I realize Wartburg was probably trying to be basic so as not to show any thing in case St Norbert was attending, but they appear limited on offense as they lack a physical presence on the o-line and an average qb.  UWP might be a little better than people think.  They could win 5 to 6 games.

You can draw your own conclusions...

Does anyone know who has taken over the long snapping/ punting duties for whitewater this year?

Willy Wonka

Minnesota fan here looking for some info. Are there any River Falls posters around? I sure hope so.

I'm wondering if freshmen Chris Biederman and/or Eric Ryan might see time for the Falcons this year? Both were absolute studs at RB/LB for their small school teams in high schools and I'm curious to see how quickly they might impact a historically poor program like UWRF.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.
