[Rams] Rams Could Release WR/KR Dante Hall?
By SteveRobWhatever
Rams wideout Dante Hall could be released in order to make room on the roster for receiver Derek Stanley, according to radio station 1380 AM in St. Louis. Hall has lost the wiggle and speed he showed as a return man. ...

Does anyone here believe that the CCIW is a better conference than the MIAC as is how they are rated in the new d3football.com rankings?

You seem to be the only person hung up over this, retagent - never really made a whole lot of difference to me...but I bet the CCIW game officials have better knowledge of the rules and are more observant to obvious rules infractions (i.e. the gloves) than the MIAC on field officials.  With all the publicity, it will be interesting to see what the guy wears this weekend.  Hopefully, my phone call to the MIAC Commish will help keep Augsburg from cheating this week.

MIAC or CCIW.....Don't really know who is better.....St.Johns/Bethel and Wheaton/North Central/Augustana are usually good these last few years but not good enough....How important that is to WIAC supporters I am not certain.  One thing I know is that this week at the Perk the tailgate looks solid with Italian Beef and Sausage on the menu as remnants of the Goo Crew returns to watch Coppage and the Oline Pound the Rock against LAX....See you all at the Perk Saturday!......Tom Moore brings the soup.....

The question was raised by our good friend, Retagent, who is a MIAC guy.  I like the question or any question that promotes football banter.   What also makes it hard to compare the top teams is that the last several years, the AQ from the CCIW never makes it past the second round of the play-offs because they run into the buzzsaw that is Mount Union in the North Region every year.  The exception being 07 where they ran into the Warhawks.

Oh...is this the official WIAC company line?  I thought retagent was the fly in the ointment?  (just kidding there bud)  Actually, one of the reasons I think he's our good friend is because of the way he picks at the pickem contest, it guarantees everyone else finishes ahead of him!!  We all like that!!

You heard it hear first.

I'm sure this game is something the La Crosse players and fans have been pointing to since last years game. La Crosse has played WW as tough as anyone over the Warhawks recent unbeaten run through the conference and Saturday may be no exception. However, all else being equal, I don't think La Crosse has enough to beat the Warhawks at the Perk (my score prediction is on the pickem thread).  Hopefully, you'll stick around after this game, win or lose.  It would be nice to have some La Crosse supporters as regulars here.

Thanks for having my back BoBO (I think). One reason I bring this up is the relative non-conference records. It seems that some of the conferences ranked above the MIAC have similar or not quite as good non-conference records, and those ranked below, have, in most cases, much worse non-con records. It's been that way for a couple years. Usually when a MIAC or WIAC team plays a CCIW team in the playoffs, it's usually not close. I know Wheaton beat Bethel this year, but hasn't everybody? I hope that comment doesn't come back to haunt me in a couple days.

BoBo

retagent, of course I have your back!

BTW, you mentioned before you were going to try to be at the Perk for WW vs LC?  Are you going to be there to root on your pseudo-hometown team?

Congrats to the 4 WIAC student-athletes named as semi-finalist for the 2008 Draddy Trophy and candidates for the 2008 National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) National Scholar-Athlete Awards.  They are:

UW-Eau Claire's Paul Bielmeier (Sr., Edgar, Wis.)
UW-La Crosse's Chris Johnson (Sr., Amery, Wis.)
UW-Oshkosh's Dieter Juedes (Sr., Sheboygan Falls, Wis.)
UW-Whitewater's Michael Sherman (Sr., Oconomowoc, Wis./Kettle Moraine H.S.)

They represent four of the 37 nominees from NCAA Division III and 164 national contestants.

My boys are well behaved - they would never pick on sleeping polar bears.

For those of you who want to swat around a little black and white fella, check this game out.  My best score is 518.5 576.3. Just a hint, it's better to hit line drive penguins than towering fly penguins.  Have fun.

EDIT:  Actually, I don't think my boys have ever seen a polar bear, coming from the Southern Hemisphere!

A 3.62 in bio-medicine and chemistry is much more impressive than 3.93 and 3.82 while majoring in "gym class". This award does nothing but help the stereotype that is collegiate athletes...IMHO
"A GOOD leader makes you feel as though THEY can conquer the world. A GREAT leader makes you feel as though YOU can conquer the world."

I think a senior GPA of 3.93 or 3.82 in kinesiology, P.E. or anything is impressive. It measures and honors a high level of effort over a 4 year period and, at the same time, combined with football performace and community leadership abilities, shows quality young men.  As someone who worked my butt off to get a 3.3 GPA and worked nearly full time for 3 of my 4 1/2 years as an undergraduate, I tip my hat to them. To me, rather than contributing to the stereotype that is collegiate athletes, an award like this might motivate other student-athlete football players to perform better on and off the gridiron.

Expect another big crowd for Saturday's LAX @ UWW game at the "Perk." The advance sale of tickets has already passed 3,000.  Great weather, great rivalry, Badgers and Packers don't play until the evening... all signs point to a for a very large crowd.  For those wondering about ticket availability, you can purchase tickets in advance via credit card by calling the UWW Ticket Office at (262) 472-2222.
