I apologize for sounding as though I was personally knocking any of the four nominated...if that was how it was taken my point was missed. Again, I apologize.

Well, why don't you explain exactly what your point was then?  Frankly I don't think I misunderstood a word of it.  But I'm gracious enough to accept your apology.

When I was a collegiate athlete I got stereotyped, as I imagined other athletes were, of not up being to par with the rest of the university in regards to academics. I still hear the argument all the time in my corporate office that collegiate athletes are not as intelligent as the normal college student. So when I see athletes being given awards for studies in PE and the likes it just sterotypes us further. Its not a hard concept...but I guess I should have dumbed it down for the athletes on this board (thats just a joke so don't get all pissed off this time, get it?).

In more important news...the impressive win by UWW is not quite as impressive as the record attendance. I can only imagine how fun it was to play in that game!

oshfb   I'd just drop the awards conversation if I were you. On other topics, I don't know how long you have been away from UWO football, but what in the hell is going on there? My son played for Cerroni ad D-coordinator, but not as head coach. He liked him, and thought he knew his stuff concerning defense. I personally thought he was a poor choice as head coach though, as I thought they needed someone with a more dynamic personallity for recruiting and motivation. Meyer, who I didn't really care for, did in fact recruit some good players, and brought the program a long way from where it was when he came in. I feel they have under achieved the last 3 or so years. What are your thoughts?

Here is another one and while I really don't believe in kicking anyone when they are down, I have a suggestion to the UWL coaching staff. This is not the first year that Terry has had a revolving door at certain positions but especially the QB spot.  He replaced senior Griffin Moe after a 1 point loss to Hardin-Simmons and hasn't started since.......really?  Come on!  As a coach, you need to develop players, build their confidence and not make them think that they are one play away from the bench in favor of a sophmore.  What good is going with a sophmore if, "he is the future," and then bench him his senior year in favor of the sophmore again.  Did it a few years ago with Tenney and Shumann! How does a team build chemistry, timing, trust?   Don't think it is a coincidence that the National Champs were senior ladened with 17 or 18 senior starters.  I guarantee that Jacobs or Jones did not fear instantly for their jobs if they had a bad play, quarter, etc.  And what kind of message does that send to the team as a whole?  Now, of course, coaches must put the best players on the field and a starting spot must be re-earned every year but I question when players earn that spot for opening weekend and then seem to be able to lose it very quickly as a result a a few mistakes.  Being 0-4, does his team need an overhaul?  Maybe but I am questioning his philosophy that got him to this spot in the first place.

I don't drop a conversation when I have a valid point...  as for your questions: I've been away for 2 seasons so I also played for Cerroni only as the D-Coordinator and couldn't be more happy with the decision of placing him as the Head Coach (obviously biased). I can assure you C is MUCH better at motivating players as Meyer was. I have little knowledge regarding the recruitment abilities so will defer. To give Meyer complete credit for moving the program forward is a bit misleading but he still deserves credit for recruiting better players they had previously (he recruited myself as well). The offense he was in charge of never ranked higher than I believe 5th in conference, where C's D was never ranked lower than 3rd, just to offer a statistical perspective. The breakout year was in 2005 going 7-3. We definitly underachieved in 2006 going 5-5 which I take personally being a leader on the team. Last year going 7-3 was still an underachieving year by the teams standards as the players I'm sure were shooting for the playoffs. Flash, I'm curious who your son is and whether he shares similar opinions. I have a feeling I know him quite well.

Great comments 413 on LAX football.....I couldn't agree more about their coach. Absolutely tremendous tailgate Saturday at the Perk many 2005,6,7 players and family in the lot for the game. How about the Milton football team gobbling up Italian Beef/Sausage. Great to see everyone....planning on return trip the first week of November....Way to go OLine that dominated the Eagles the entire game....Coppage as a freshman is awesome....he gets better every game. The crowd was simply amazing....looks like UWW football has caught on and is here to stay.....Tailgate was so good some people never left the lot.....

The entire La Crosse program seems to be discombobulated.

At least they're getting a new stadium!!

Well, I said I don't want to kick them when they are down and then I put on my pointy shoes.  I suspect that the motivation is that healthy competition breeds success and I agree, of course, but it needs to be tempered and cannot overide the overall goal of building a team's chemistry and trust level between players and coaching staff.

It's funny you should say that considering the instability (to put it lightly) our corporations are experiencing. I guess your business ethics classes were much harder than the Anatomy and Physiology classes your Physical Education major teammates were taking. What you are saying is that you are smart because you are in business and Physical Education majors are stupid because they are in Physical Education. Have you ever stopped and thought that maybe people choose physical education because they value physical activity, sports, as well as being a role model for generations of students in the future? I'm saying that an idiot is an idiot no matter what field you choose as we can all see that thanks to the current recession and the reasons we are in it. At least when we graduate we understand how to teach physical education while you guys are still failing Business Ethics 101.

LAX has gotten worse every year since the old man retired. Coaching? or the absence of 5 foot tall 230 pound guys running 4.1 40's?

Nice comeback 96, You must have been sleeping in logic class though. Your reposte smacks of "Your mom wears combat boots." At least Osh keeps away from the ad hominum arguments you seem to relish. If you disagree with his argument, take on his argument and not him, or for that matter " Those guys like you", since I don't know you and have no idea about your ethical makeup.

I'm taking on the entire sentiment that is apparently shared by the people he works with. Maybe I could have substituted the words "you guys" for "businessmen." Quite honestly, I was writing quickly because I didn't have very much spare time but I'm tired of people comparing apples to oranges. I do not relish in attacking people but I don't really care to use tactical verbal weaponry so that they don't get caught in the crossfire. My point is that business is different from teaching physical education. It requires a completely different skill set that you would not understand unless you went that road. There are just as many idiot business majors that graduate as there are idiot physical education majors that graduate. While they may take different types of classes it does not mean that it's easier because easy is relative to the person's individual skill set which is why people gravitate to their field. It's a very arrogant and offensive belief to think that a person with a different road to travel has it easier just because the bumps are aligned differently.

On another note I almost forgot to congratulate the Warhawks on an impressive win. I can't get sick of hearing "Warhawks over the Eagles."
