What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Wow.  I check out the boards on a Friday evening to see what's going on in the WIAC only to find talk about humans getting with animals.  I must be on the wrong board.

Now if you would excuse me, I have to go to bed so I can get up at 4:00 am to go to the Cotton Bowl to start the tailgating.  Big game here in Dallas!!!  HOOK EM' HORNS!!!!!!!!!

BoBo

I think I beat you, dallas, I have to get up at 2:00am to listen to the UWW/RF game...in fact, it's almost not worth going to bed since I'll probably just sleep through the alarm and miss everything.  :-\

I can remember in the 60's and 70's that hundreds of fans would be arrested off the streets of downtown Dallas on the Friday night before UT-OU.

I'm sure everyone knows this already, but today the Rams released safety Brannon Condren to make room for WR/KR Derek Stanley, according to the AP.

Link also has quotes from Stanley and Torry Holt, and an update on Dane Looker.

WARHAWKS win handily 52-24.  As suspected RF's defense was unable to control the WARHAWK offense and every time the Falcon made it interesting the offense was able to sustain drives and put points on the board to keep them at bay.  Coppage was outstanding again (4 touchdowns ) and Antwan Anderson had some good runs including a 25 yard touchdown run.   Jake Anderson had a 50 yard touchdown run with :30 remaining to finish a 2 play 67 yard drive.  Schebler was perfect on extra points and added a field goal (18 yds).  Donovan was steady (17 for 24 for 188 yards) managing the game well and adding a touchdown pass to TE, Nick Slupski (sp?).  He also didn't throw any interceptions.

The defense gave up more yardage than typically (370 yards) primarily against the pass (288 yards).  But they had some big fourth down stops late in the game and controlled RF's offense enough that with the offense clicking we were able to open and for the most part maintain two score leads or more down the stretch.

Coppage finished with 181 yards rushing and now has 12 touchdowns on the season.  The WARHAWK freshman record for touchdowns, held by Chad Wurth, is 13 so barring the unforeseen he's a lock to break it.  A.Anderson carried 8 times for 88 yards.

WHITEWATER finished with 598 total yards, 411 yards rushing on 51 carries and 181 yards via the pass.

On to Oshkosh who always seems to play us tough up there.

Michael Whathisname  ;) finished with 12 receptions for 152 yards and a touchdown.

Yes, WW has a great team, but they knew they were in a fb game for most of three quarters. Two great plays involved the same players, Zweifel and the WW dback on him, a kid from Milwaukee, Shumpert, I think. The WW kid hit Z with the hardest tackle of the game on a catch for a two yard loss. Z left the game for a play, shaken up. Not too long afterwards, Z put a stutter step on the WW kid, got open and scored a td. They both played very well

RF should finish higher than 6th if they play everybody as tough as they have SP and WW.

GOT BALLS? PLAY FOR THE FALLS!

BoBo

Whitewater moves to 5-0 with a 52 - 24 win at River Falls.

A couple quick thoughts before I go...

Coppage - another outstanding day...over 180 yards rushing and 4 TD's.
A. Anderson - 88 yards rushing and 1 TD,  just missing getting the Warhawks two 100 yard rushers.
J. Anderson - 1 carry (first of year) for 50 yards and a TD, with :50 remaining.

The question to Leipold on the postgame show about why were they running the ball like that with :50 seconds remain and not just running out the clock by taking a knee? - answer: giving the guys a chance to play that have worked hard all year in practice or in Anderson case, coming back from injury. I liked the answer.  I don't think they were running up the score.

With about 3 minutes left, voice and Gary mentioned that the River Falls defense appeared gassed.  Have to wonder why the River Falls coaches didn't substitute more freely since Whitewater was for most of 4th quarter. Also, offensively, Harmon was still zinging it to Zweifel til the very end (trying to pad their stats against the Warhawk subs? I don't know). Considering the constant pressure both were getting and the risk of injury (Z had already lost his helmet on two hits already), maybe giving their younger guys an opportunity for a little playing time, in retrospect, might have been the better thing to do. Warhawks seem to have a great bench with a lot of quality players.

Max Ford's name was being mentioned all the time on the broadcast - he had a pretty good game, as did Shumpert on defense.

Warhawks 592 total yards on offense - 411 on the ground in 51 rushes.
Donovan 17-24 1 TD and no INT's.  Very steady game.  Lots of good decisions.

Defense gave up 24 points from 3 TD passes and a FG from a former Warhawk kicker.  88 yards rushing on 28 rushes, but had a lot of pressure on Harmon most of the day.  Harmon made some good throws and good catches by his guys.

Not that it matters but it was actually J.Anderson's second carry of the season.  He had one carry for 4 yards vs LaCrosse.  I heard Voice say that on the broadcast and thought oops. :D

I'm in Minnesota, and listened to most of the game on the car radio. The RF announcer had a literal melt down the last few minutes of the game because WW didn't take a knee, and ran the ball. I have a feeling we haven't heard the last of this.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Oshkosh 9-7 over Stout.  Stevens Point 3-0 over Platteville.   Not much scoring in either of these.

I didn't see RF taking a knee, subing or doing anything to indicated they'd quit playing.  Why should we tell our subs to quit?  We didn't do anything fancy, just ran the ball right at them.  If they can't stop our subs doing that it's their problem.

Great game, warhawks!!!!  Falcons passed the ball much better than I expected.  Storm Harmon, (isn't that a great name for a QB?) had too much time most of the game to make things happen and he did quite often to Z.  Thought front 7 would put more pressure on him.  I watched on the Penn Atlantic site and yes, JF is right, the announcers were having a total melt down when the Hawks continued to play the last minute.  My opinion is that when you put in your seconds and thirds, only fair to let them play.  When late points are scored by back ups, oh well.  How do you tell them to take a knee? How about that Platteville/ Point score?  Must have been a hell of a defensive battle.  Pointers win 3-0!
