BW--thanks for the info on Brewster.

Stoutguy: you don't look, in real life, as good as that picture. Sorry, but I'm committed to truth.

And you, FredFalcon, are a poop face and I have never before said that to the Mayor of any town.  Speaking of poop, that's what our high school team looked like tonight against CF.  Your RF  guys have a chance to come to town Thursday and take a home playoff game away from us.  Why don't you drive over?  Maybe my sponsor BDB will buy you a beer at the Ale House after the game.

stoutguy is on the air right now on wmeq 880. Let's see if he says poop face on the air.

To complete and close the loop, interestingly, on the radio pre-game coaches show, Lance Leipold made it a point to address the play calling during the 4th quarter last week vs River Falls.  He said that since River Falls continued to play their first team and throw the ball, Whitewater was going to continue to play their first team.  Sounds like their might have been somebody reading the discussion that took place on this board at the beginning of the week.   ;)

Big thanks to the people at UW-O for offering the free webcast of the WW-Osh game.

WW had no trouble with the Titans, winning 44-3, outgaining the undermanned guys in black and yellow, 549 to 113 in total offense.  Scoring on every single possession in the first half, WW essentially had this game over early. Jeff Donovan had a stellar performance, unofficially going 16-25-1  315 yards, 2 TD's.  Aaron Rusch was one of the beneficiaries to the good fortune getting open constantly, catching 8 for 168 yards and 2, all in the first half I believe.  Donovan stood at 307 yards at the half.  Levell Coppage again led the rushing attack with a 20 att 103 yard, 2 TD game.  Antwan Anderson continues a torid pace in reserve, chipping in with an 11 att, 77 yard effort. Another 4th quarter TD, 40 yard run, too. He and Coppage, along with the Spauling and Jake Anderson, the Warhawks are really blessed with highly skill players at the running back position.

As for Oshkosh, the Titans came out with a lot of energy, really pumped up. However, they struggled continuely on offense, as their total yardage points out. The passing game really looked out of sorts.  McClelland was only 6-12-0  47 yards before leaving the game with an apparent injuried ankle.  By the time Dieter Juedes (0-4) replaced him, the Titans seem content to just run the ball with nothing but vanilla plays. The biggest gainer was a 4th down throw from punting formation by the Oshkosh punter.

I haven't mention the Defense, but they rebounded nicely from last week.

Once again, penalties mount up, especially the 15 yard variety. As voice said on the air, many of them resulted by trying to be macho. This is something I sure will be addressed in the coming week.

Homecoming and Hall of Fame Game next sat. at Perkins Stadium vs Stevens Point, a 19-9 winner over Stout today.

Big win for the Falcons today at EC.  I would have to check the history books to see how long, but I know it's been a long, long time since RF beat a team as high ranked as that.  Both teams looked good offensively, moving the ball well.  RF got a few key stops on defense and in a close, back and forth game like that, that's all it took to win.  It was a heck of a win for the Falcons.

Stoutguy, as a coach of the Rice Lake Warriors team, I can tell you that the Menomonie Indians will have to come to play against RF.  The Wildcats were really solid on the O and D lines against us last night.  It should be a heck of a game next week.

Too bad UWO's first downs didn't count as touchdowns. Or too bad every UWO punt less than 30 yards didn't count for eight points. Then we would have had a game. I take nothing away from WW in writing the UWO secondary was soooo bad.

Quite a pummelling I and everyone else (rather expectedly, to be honest) witnessed. I sat there wondering whether UWO could beat WW's third-stringers over a full game. I think I'd take WW's third string in that one. The gap between the top WIAC team and a decent WIAC team was about as wide as it could be today.

The good news for the Titans is their pts/game only dropped from 10 to 8.6. That offense is brutal. Again. Still. Next up? La Crosse, a team UWO hasn't defeated since 1970 (or so).

Good luck against Mount Union, DubDub.

RF continues to improve, even  faster than I had thought they would. Today's 27-19 win in EC showed an offensive line performance and a running game to respect for the first time. In the first  quarter, EC showed early disregard for the Falcon D in passing up an easy field goal (altho, their kicking game is suspect) to run the ball on  fourth and short. They came up short. Later, they tried a fake punt on fourth and five, or so, at mid field and failed. Those two calls hurt EC, the fake  punt leading to a Falcon TD.

Only 6 balls were thrown Zweifel's way. He caught five, the last giving RF a first down inside the EC ten. RF could have taken a knee four times and ensured the win, but chose to score, giving EC the ball with 1:42 left, and forcing the Falcon D  to come up with an interception at the RF 15 to end the game.

Again, RF will finish higher than 6th, now a safe prediction. Too bad I didn't have enuf guts to pickem this week, but had too many guts to  pickem last week!

Close the loop? You mean the proverbial one I'd tighten around his neck for reminding me of last Saturday?  Just what does he have to prove by keeping the controversy alive? Why wasn't he willing to just take a 21-point win and go home? After all, he coaches the defending national champions and has never lost to a DIII opponent. He had a chance to be a gracious winner but couldn't divorce himself from his DI and DII influences.  His bluff got called and now he's trying to talk his way out of it.  As I pointed before, that last touchdown was scored against guys on the third and fourth team.  If he expects opponents to haul up the white flag, roll over and genuflect (even when victory is beyond their grasp), then he needs to be reminded that the WIAC gospel may not be written in purple ink.

Sorry WW friends, but I agree with kestrel on this issue. +k for using genuflect. Having said that, after watching todays WW/UWO game, I think this years WW team is going to be better than last years. It is easily the deepest team I've seen in the WIAC. I'd like to see them get Langer more meaningful playing time, along with the running backs.

By Warhawk players on the 3rd and 4th team.

I understand your point but I just can't agree with the idea that as a coach, you are suppose to tell your back ups to lie down when they get a rare opportunity to see the field.  If the last score had been made by starters, I would join the lynch mob but, IMO, all a coach should be asked to do is bench the starters.  100 players work their butts off and all deserve to play when the opportunity arises and many still have hopes of cracking the starting line up eventually.  If you can't stop the back ups...................oh, well!!!  If this team is really as deep as it appears to be.......I am sure this complaint will not go away.

Are people honestly still talking about the way Whitewater dominated UWRF in the fourth quarter with OUR BACKUPS IN!! Give it a rest....if you can't stop us from running a run play for 45 yards a pop then go out and try to recruit some athletes.  Whitewater coaches work harder than any coaches in the league, our players train harder than anyone in the league, and quite simply our athletes are just plain better.  You want us to lay down after our back-ups have worked there but off all week so  River Falls can keep some dignity in there program...what a joke.  As for thinking Lance reads Post patters...trust me he doesn't give a rats a.. about what anyone but his staff and players think.  UWW coaches might as well just stop coaching in the second half too...huh??  Anyways...what a performance by the best recieving core in the country today!!! Rusch...well enough said, there isn't a better or harder working WR in the country.  Jordan Wells stepped up like I new he could, and is going to be very dangerous the rest of the season.  Brandes is very tough and catches anything his way.  Giff can stretch the field with the best of them.  Not to mention JD through for 315 in the FIRST HALF!! Any doubt about the best air attack in the country sure got answered today.  Oh yeah and a shout out to my main man JoePa, Z man, and Dinks...way to keep the Offense rolling...Pound the Rock!!  back to back 500 yards of offense!! Can't wait to be home for three in a row!!

A week removed and immediately after the biggest win your program has had in god knows how long and you're still whining about this.  Too freakin' funny.

Your agreement with kestrel's argument/logic sounds like a prank to me.  If not...repent you heathen.   ;)

But, everyone is entitled to their own opinions around here, even kestrel...and sticking with the tone in kestrel's post, I'll give any poster credit for "crusading" for what they believe in, even if it is funny as bw said.

I believe today's big win by the falcons just proves the strength of the WIAC. Platteville and River Falls, have been dragging behind the larger, talented schools in the conference for much too long. Now, these two teams have become competetive with the rest of the league...(exception WW).
After following the playoffs last year and with the competition the conference has presently, I think the top 4 WIAC teams should have an automatic bid into the playoffs. Anyone with me?
