I spent last week telling anyone who I thought might even remotely give a crap that WW may well be the best D3 team ever. After almost a full bottle of rum last night, I'm not sure what planet I'm on today.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Does this mean that Point and Whitewater have to win out for the WIAC to get two teams in again this year ??
Well if Point wins out they are in with the AQ, so that's not in question.  Should Point lose again they'd definately be on shaky ground with the UWRF loss and whoever else beats them. The more RF loses the more it hurts Point.

I can't imagine a 8-1 (regionally) UWW team with a loss only to the AQ winner wouldn't get in.  If the Warhawks were to slip again, then it might get interesting.

Congrats to the Pointers. I was listening to the game on the radio while driving to another game and am wondering about the controversial non-TD by the Pointers in the first quarter. What happened? Why wasn't it a TD?

The Roop

UW-W barely escaped Eau Claire with a win. Not sure if I would be looking forward to the rematch as the Blue Golds are playing for their play off lives as well. Non-conference or not it still counts. Mt. Union may be making room in the trophy case for some Walnut and Bronze.

i guess I can't complain too much after the 4 years of WIAC dominance.
Revisionist history?  Whitewater was 4-3 in the WIAC four years ago.

I was given two explanations so I'm not sure which is correct.  The first one was that the runner with the ball was down prior to the fumble which was recovered by a different player in the end zone.  One official called it a touchdown but was overruled by a second offical who called the runner down.  The second explanation was that the runner with the ball fumbled it into the end zone and a different player recovered it which can't happen by rule.  This scenario occurred this season in a BADGER game and the end result was that it was called a touchback and the ball awarded to their opponents on the 20 yard line.  In our game the ball was placed at the half yard line before being moved out to the 16 on the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty called against the Pointer so I'm inclined to think the first explanation may be the correct one.

I also offer my congratulations to the Pointer.

It's just a hunch but I suspect he's including this season.

Congrats SP on a well executed game, those short slants killed us all game
wow, what a tough one to swallow. Pointer's wanted it more than whitewater did, that was clear. i guess I can't complain too much after the 4 years of WIAC dominance. all the steaks had to end eventually. hopefully this young team can learn something from the loss, and "not take your opponents for granted," (rightfully stated on the postgame show). Coppage didn't have much alleys to run through and Donavan didn't look comfortble in the pocket all game. I wasn't used to watching a flustered whitewater team, I think they showed a bit their inexperience/youth today.for the first time in 4 years Whitewater has to do some scoreboard watching over the next month, to see how the WIAC unfolds. It should make for an interesting final three weeks of the regular season.

I think i speak for all UWW fans when I say: Next saturday can't come fast enough....

Was going to post my observations but after reading 02's thoughts, he and I pretty much saw it the same way.  The Hawks played flat the entire game!  I would just add that I would have liked to see more blitzing, needed more pressure on the QB cuz he just picked us apart!
Congrats to Point.  They were the better team and earned the win.  I have to admit, as hard as it was to watch the streak die, couldn't help but smile to myself as the Pointers and their fans celebrated knocking off the Champs.  Know the feeling well and there is nothing like it.
The Hawks were given a reality check yesterday.  This is a very young team and there is no lacking for talent but now they must look deep and bounce back from the first conference loss that most of them have ever experienced.  Time to earn it for yourselves, Boys, and focus on one game at a time!

Again, congrats to Point and the rest of the conference winners yesterday.

Ya, I figured your comments had been alcohol induced!   ;D

What has happened to UW-LX this year?  Talk about a meteoric fall from last year.  I must admit that I did not expect UW-WW to be this good this year and UW-Point is a bit of a surprise.  I think the WIAC gets two in this year.  You'll probably beat the MIAC champ, in my opinion, regardless of who the champ is.  I hope it's SJU but I don't think so this year.

BTW, St. Olaf in the MIAC got a great coach Jerry O from Point.  I expect nothing but good things at SOC with him there.

I hope both WIAC teams, if the WIAC does get 2 in, stay in the West.

The meteor rocks started falling last year and continued for the first 5 games of this year.  They apparently have hit rock bottom and are picking themselves up; they are on a 2 game win streak.  I wouldn't be surprised if they finished at .500 when everything is said and done in 2008 (including a win at Stevens Point on 15 Nov  ;) )

Yup, will be rooting on the Eagles to win their last game of the season!  That will definitely be a 1st for me!      :D

Way to move up in the Pick em's this week, BoBo, and BDB.    Tough week for me.  Stout is killing me!   :(
Seems that unpredictability in the WIAC is the only constant this season, especially now that the Warhwarks have stumbled.
