I know many of you like to deny history, and this piece of history is not all that old. But St John's WON the National Championship way back in 2003, and had a 7 - 3 record in 2004, failing to make the playoffs.

I won't deny that bit of history. If you are talking about Whitewater not making the playoffs then I would agree that a 7-3 record will not get them in either. 8-2, maybe. 9-1, probably.

Fortunately the staff isn't worried about the playoffs and has the team focused on beating Eau Claire.

Well we know that  at some point in time the Warhawks were going to lose...I just didn't think it would be now!! With that being said, me personally, am glad that this team with a senior class that has been to THREE STRAIGHT stagg bowls was the one to do it because they know what it takes to get back on track.  STP did play good D, but lets face it uww beat itself.  Whitewater can win out and will be just fine.  We could most likely get a first rd home play-off game, then play Point at Point (which there isn't a player on whitewater's team that doesn't want that),  and then end up playing North Central in Naperville (who is brutal)  before the Semi's.  THe coaching staff and leaders on this team will not let Whitewater falter.  The WIAC is the toughest conference in the country and it was just proven once again on Saturday.  However, you can ask every player and every coach in the conference who is the best team in the WIAC....and I would gaurentee the answer still remains WHITEWATER!!  Pound the Rock this week and put together a statement game!!

Excellent point BW.....As I recall the last victory over Eau Claire was not a cakewalk so concentrating on Saturdays game seems to be somewhat a more pressing matter at this time compared to playing in Oregon(been there and done that).....Pound the Rock Warhawks!....

I agree... You could ask anyone in the conference who's the best, and WW would be at the top of the list, but it gets pretty foggy after that. It was neat to see Point beat the champs.
It just goes to show, that the level of competition in the WIAC is like its own playoff system. A win in the WIAC is almost as good as a win in December.

Hey Voice.... Why at the end of the season do they move the games earlier at noon? Seems like there are usually better crowds for the 1:00 starts. Also I am whining because we have to leave even earlier  to get our customary spot in the Perk Lot from Chitown.....means getting the Italian Beef ready early.....Just wondering.....I am there this weekend no matter what time you start....

the champ is here to stay

I remember hearing something on one of the coaches shows that coach Leipold wanted some different start times.
I am not sure why but seeing this sunday we turn the clocks back an hour it's probably so the coaches and players as well as the fans can have a couple more hours at the bars of Whitewater.

Congrats to Warminski and Ball for stellar games at River Falls over the weekend.  I must say the O-line opened up some big holes from my vantage point in the endzone area.  Go Devils!

Start at 12 and get home earlier.  Noon starts mean tailgating is underway prior to 8 am for some.  The last couple of years, crowd size was dictated by weather, competition from the Badgers, and rivalry.  La Crosse has been out Big home draw on an annual basis.

We'll see how many "front runners" that choose to blow off Saturday's game.  Maybe that is just the culture of fans these days.  Whitewater is on pace for school-record attendance this season averaging 7,148 through three home games.  WILL HAWK FANS STAY PASSIONATE AND CONTINUE TO PACK THE PERK?  Sure hope so.

KitchenSink

I'm gonna be there.  I had to miss the Point game - prior commitment.

Hang in there, people.  Give the guys a chance to get back on course towards the postseason.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Interesting stat that is atypical:

Away team in conferece vs. WIAC foe

11 wins - 5 losses
.6875

Average margin of victory in the conference games is over 17 points per game.  This was another stat that is not typical of the normal WIAC conference games.

Thank God!  I think that is something the Warhawk teams of the last three years did extremely well!  Take it "one game at a time," because looking past any team in the Wacky WIAC can be fatal!

Come on, Retagent.  A 7-3 record and not the AQ?  Kind of insures that a team won't see the post season, don't ya think?    ;)

Well, that may explain some of my troubles with the Pick em's this season. ;D
