Have you checked out the Regional Rankings yet? I know all you Warhawk fans will be aghast (As I was actually)

http://www.d3football.com/dailydose/2008/10/29/ncaa-regional-rankings-first-release/

What's to be aghast at?  #2 losing to a unranked opponent is going to be ugly even if it is the WIAC.  KS is right.  The Hawks just have to tend to business!  Rankings mean jack if they have to turn their uniforms in after Nov. 15th.

stoutguy- I waited until 5:10 for you to show at Bo's N Mine Saturday. All those beers I bought for you went to somebody else. What's up with that?

GOT BALLS? PLAY FOR THE FALLS!

fbf413, I think retagent's aghast is partially referring to the fact that his Johnnies are ranked below the Northwestern Eagles in the ranking. Kitchensink is right, the rankings appear to be based strictly on record - take care of business, one play at a time, one game at a time and everything will take care of itself.  Should be an exciting ending to the pickem contest this year, too!!   :D

Putting on my coach's hat: There is lot's of football left to play. Focus on winning the last three and it will all work out for the Warhawks.

As dumb as I am, I know that's not true.

My bad.  I hadn't been on the MIAC board for a few days.  I am sure those boys have been going nuts!   ;)  But, hey..............Northwestern (Minn.) did beat UW-River Falls and UW-RF beat UW-Stevens Point and the Pointers just knocked off the Hawks.  ;)

As for the Pick em's, nice job so far.  It doesn't look like it's my year BUT lot's of football left to play.  BDB's son must have been happy Sunday morning as well!   ;)

Yeah, that was on my mind, but even Concordia, who lost a close one to Willamette, is below Northwestern. And I guess I can see UWSP rated above UWW, but I would think they should be #2 and #3. I'm trying to be objective about this.

the champ is here to stay

The minute you start looking ahead, is the minute your going to lose. The Warhawks just have  to focus on the Blu-Golds this week, and then when thats over worry about BDB and the boys from stout, and after that worry about the flying circus from Platteville. At that point and that point only can and should the hawks worry about the playoffs. As the minute they look past a game. They will lose

Quote"Here's more proof that score strings are only as helpful as one wants them to be: Northwestern (Minn.) beat UW-River Falls 41-34, and UW-RF beat UW-Stevens Point, 36-30. UW-SP just knocked off defending national champion UW-Whitewater, 17-16. So obviously Northwestern should now be considered a national championship contender, no?"

This idea has been kicked around on a number of different threads (maybe as a joke or an attempt to legitimize NW/MN being on the list) since the regional rankings came out, but it has shortcomings in that UWW also beat RF 52-24 - something that is conveniently forgotten about when it is discussed; in my view, it sort of breaks the string and makes it a moot point. River Falls is an up and down team & you never quite know what team is going to show up on any given Saturday- those in the WIAC know this all too well. Points' 3-0 win vs Platteville and that RF game are indications IMO that the Pointers are cast from a similar mold. They've just been fortunate enough to win most of those kind of games (APU, Webber International, also) while RF finds a way to lose.

A lot of football is left to be played - this will be a telling weekend for a lot of teams.  I wonder what Oshkosh has left in their tank after being kicked around the last two weeks...I hope they can make things interesting up in SP and give the Pointers a game.

Hey, Bobo, do we have any idea if Michael Zweifel is playing tomorrow?  Trying to get my pick em's done.

Another question. It looked to me like Stevens Point's Kalsow got nicked up in the fourth quarter last week, and I didn't see him come back in. As he is one of the best receivers they have, I wonder if he's ok to play this week?
