I would like to get a take on the Stout game at UWW from Saturday as I cannot believe that Stout seems to have shutdown the Warhawks and the box score shows such a different story from the score.  Any Devils that can tell the story, pelase do.  Thanks.

Stout shut down Whitewater in the 2nd half almost completely.  In the first half UWW hit some long passes which lead to the first TD and scored the second.  Great field position and the one and only second half first down led to the field goal that put them up 17-0.

After that UWW went 3-and-out 5 times (one was a 3-and-intercept).

Both teams had long passes dropped, both had a mountain of penalties (26 for 265 yards total).  That game was about as ugly as the November weather on Saturday.

I have very little doubt that Stout would have won if they'd forced OT.  Their defense was in total control, and Whitewater's was wearing down big time late in the game since they were on the field for so long.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

the champ is here to stay

Looks like the pressure is on SP and WW this week. Good to see the conference championship going down to the final week of the regular season as its been a few years since that has happened.

I personally as a warhawk supporter b/c of my brother in law who played wr there in the mid 90's1993-1996 would have to say I prefer it where the hawks have it wrapped up by know. However I do have to give their coaching staff credit,as they have continued what berezowitz started which was winning championships. Despite the little slip they took against Stevens Point. A championship is a championship whether they tie for it(if both point & the hawks win) or if they win it out right with a point loss.
If they get a pool c bid will the hawks get a home game.

Seems that Whitewater's penalties are getting worse as the season progresses. We started off with only 10 penalties combined in the first three games. that's still less than we had all last game.

Sitting in the stands on saturday, I believe UW penalties kept Whitewater from blowing the game open early. I think i counted four holdings/personal fouls in a row!!! unbelievable. two were on the same offensive lineman, one of those negated a huge 40+ yard pass down to Stout's 3 yard line.

Can anyone with organized football experience explain this too me. lack of disipline? Coaching? young inexperenced team? I refuse to blame the refs, as some people in the stands were yelling "let them play!!!"

Thanks Dude. I guess I have to say I don't think much of Cerroni's attitude. Looks like yet another mistake by Ackerman.

I always thought you were a Cerroni backer, jf?  What happen?

I am a UWO fan, and think Cerroni is a very good defensive coach. I've never thought he had the dynamic type personality to be head coach. Oshfb knows him better than I, and his opinion is probably more accurate than mine. I have never been around him since he was head coach, only as d coordinator.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

As a former player and now a coach, I would say that a lack of emphasis during practice on the part of the coaching staff often contributes to increased penalties.  Often when you get to this point in the season, basic fundamentals get neglected and sometimes you see slip ups such as this.

I didn't see the Whitewater game, but I did see the Marshfield vs. Menomonie high school playoff game.  Both teams were penalized so many times it was amazing.  It was clearly a case where the coaching staff was probably too preoccupied with preparing the kids for their opponent and neglected the little things such as penalties.

It's tough to maintain that proper balance of opponent preparation and basic fundamentals.

Just a quick acknowledgement and recognition for Coach Terry and the UWL Eagles football players who showed up yesterday for the Screaming Eagles band concert, as they recapped the tunes they've played throughout the season at the team's home away from home in Winona...

And hats off to all the band members, color guards, pom pons and everyone else behind the scenes who make the D3 collegiate football experience such a great one every Saturday!

Time to jump on the Pointer bandwagon in hopes I can give them a little "bad karma" in their final regular season game.  I've tried voodoo and other black magic, but it hasn't worked.  The reverse psychology seems to have work for a certain team to the west of the WIAC - no reason why it can't work here, too.  So...

GO POINTERS GO - Beat the Eagles!!!!!!

Let's hope they show up on Saturday in Point, too!! ;)  :D  ;D

Good for them to support those who support them!!  The Screaming Eagles are one of the best bands in the land.

That would be patent infringement BoBo.   ;)

stanbob, when Point loses, we'll take a collection and pay you royalties.  If Point wins, we'll start legal proceedings against the patent holder...the emotional distress alone should be worth something.

There is no way LaCrosse will beat Stevens Point.  The LaCrosse defense couldn't stop LaCrosse Aquanis' offense let alone Point's and the Beckwith/Jenkins connection.  Plus LaCrosse has tossed it in for the season and essentially written it off as a bad memory.  Even if their defense gets lucky and holds Point their offense is pathetic and probably won't get more than 100 yards all day against the stout Pointer D.  It ain't going to happen, no way in god's creation.  Hell has a better chance of freezing over.

There that ought to tick off any LaCrosse player who happens to read this site.  Hopefully this is bulletin board material.

Sorry BW.  That might have worked if you changed your handle to Badgerpointer, but I don't think you're going to fool them.

I would think UWW fans would want the Pointers to win out so they can both get it in and the Warhawks might get a second shot at the Pointers.  Personally, I prefer to not tempt fate twice.  I'd rather see a Point win and a Warhawk loss and take my chances with the rest of the country.

No way any Warhawk fan will be pulling for Point this saturday. Speaking for myself, I would much rather see Point fall which would secure whitewater the automatic bid for the playoffs (given they take care of buisness in Platteville). That way we won't have to sweat over an at-large bid come sunday.
