WW dropped one in the first half in the end zone, hit the receiver right in the stomach, so quit whining.
Well, I wasn't whining so much as I was just trying to try to get off the color scheme theme.  If I was going to whine about something in that game, it would be about officials that have no feel for the game from either team's perspective.  Some of these crews really enjoy the limelight.  Too bad for players, coaches, and fans who have to sit through it.

whether they were flag happy or not, Whitewater has a history of getting penalized this year.....alot. they were probably just calling them as they see them, unfortunalty...And no, I'm not an apologist for the guys in black and white.

12-144   Week 10
8-65  Week 9
9-82  Week8
7-77  Week 7
5-65  Week 6
9-99  Week 5
3-33  Week 4
5-44  Week 2
2-26  Week 1

Seems that Whitewater's penalties are getting worse as the season progresses. We started off with only 10 penalties combined in the first three games. that's still less than we had all last game.

Sitting in the stands on saturday, I believe UW penalties kept Whitewater from blowing the game open early. I think i counted four holdings/personal fouls in a row!!! unbelievable. two were on the same offensive lineman, one of those negated a huge 40+ yard pass down to Stout's 3 yard line.

Can anyone with organized football experience explain this too me. lack of disipline? Coaching? young inexperenced team? I refuse to blame the refs, as some people in the stands were yelling "let them play!!!"

As a former player and now a coach, I would say that a lack of emphasis during practice on the part of the coaching staff often contributes to increased penalties.  Often when you get to this point in the season, basic fundamentals get neglected and sometimes you see slip ups such as this.

I didn't see the Whitewater game, but I did see the Marshfield vs. Menomonie high school playoff game.  Both teams were penalized so many times it was amazing.  It was clearly a case where the coaching staff was probably too preoccupied with preparing the kids for their opponent and neglected the little things such as penalties.

It's tough to maintain that proper balance of opponent preparation and basic fundamentals.
Regarding penalties, not so sure that this "clearly a case of coaching staffs being too preoccupied and not doing the little things..." was the case in this game.   Never really heard that one before about the Menomonie or Marshfield staffs.  I did the broadcast of the MHS/Marshfield game Friday night and then followed that up with doing the WW/Stout game Sat. afternoon so maybe that's why the officials talk got into the conversation.  I think I will use a quote that I just read from Bo Ryan's basketball book ANOTHER HILL TO CLIMB to defend my official whining conversation:"I know you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant." ;)

Good grief stoutguy. You're retired and drawing a big fat pension, and working two or three jobs. You must have enough salted away to buy out BlueDevil Bob by now.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

If I keep saying stupid things on his show, I might have to just to stay on the air.

Warhawks take out Platteville early and often to the tune of 52-13.

WW racks up 536 yards of total offense, nearly evenly spread - 278 rushing, 258 passing.

Dovovan started and was nearly flawless, going 12-16 2 TD's 1 INT and ran 4 for 25.  Eight different backs carried the ball on the day, led by Levell Coppage with 26-101 and 2 TD's.  He broke Chad Wurth's school record for rushing yards by a freshman early in the first quarter.  Eight receivers caught passes, topped by Aaron Rusch 6-135 and 1 TD - all in the first half.  Cory Robinson caught a TD pass of 46 yards, as well.

Defense allowed only 69 yards on the ground in 23 carries.  Three Platteville QB's accounted for 236 yards through the air, going 21-48 with 3 INT.  It was a kind of bend but don' break afternoon for the 'hawk D.

Penalties still troublesome on the afternoon.  WW had  8 for 92, most seemed to be major personal foul variety.

Plattville's D was hot coming in with consecutive shut-outs, but UWW quickly ended the streak by scoring on 7 of 8 possessions (not including 3 play possession to end first half) through 3 quarters.  Overall, UWW scored on 8 of 10 full possessions, with 1 out on downs and 1 punt over the course of the day.

Now it's wait and see time to get the playoff pairings.  Good win for the 'Hawks.  Playing like they did today, I still gotta think they are the team to beat in the west.  Only time will tell.

EDIT:  Not to be forgotten, Jeff Schebler's lone FG on the day gave him 53 career field goals to set the NCAA DIII record he tied last week in the win over Stout.

Congrats to the Pointers and good luck in the playoffs...and a fashion update: the white on black looked good on the Warhawks today, especially when paired with the black arm sleeves  ;D

Hopefully the Hawks will play within a few hours driving distance next week
