What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Congrats to all the All Conference players.  No way are there too many kids listed.  For  the work that they put in, the little recognition that they receive is well deserved.  I think of a class-act young man like Dusty Tervelt.  Works his tail off in the offensive line, never gets any credit for it by us media guys, gets injured and has to wait a whole year to play again, and comes back and has a First Team, All Conference year.  He truly represents what the WIAC athlete is all about.  That is the beauty of being involved with this sport.  Getting to know people like Dusty Tervelt.

I, too, want to send my congrats out to all the WIAC All-Conference players!  We are proud of all of them and the many great players who, despite the numbers on the list, don't make the final cut but still contribute to the quality of play in the WIAC Conference.

Best of luck to the Pointers tomorrow!

What about getting to know me?
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

WIAC All-Conference teams have been announced:

2008 All-WIAC Football Team
First Team Offense...

Is there anyone in the WIAC that suited up for a game that didn't show up on this list?

stanbob, have you checked out the MIAC all conference team yet? Your spirited criticism
of the All-WIAC team might not have been a good idea after all  :-\ .  The MIAC team has to be the only all-conference team with 7 OL and 2 QB's on the first team - in fact, 4 of the 9 starting QB's make the all conference team  ::) ...and it gets worse from there...

Of course there's 7 OL on the All-MIAC first team--they had to find some way to get a Johnnie o-lineman on there.  I'm just surprised it only took 7.  And if they had just added another 10 or 12 QB spots we would have had one of those, too!

For all those on this board that think Johnnie fans were sandbagging earlier this week with all the talk of how Whitewater will roll St. John's this weekend, you'll notice a lack of SJU players on the All-MIAC teams.  In fact, our only really good player (a Kleppe-esque d-tackle named Nick Gunderson) blew out his knee in the 4th quarter of the first game of the year.  The 'Hawks should be a 3 TD favorite, and the only way they don't cover is if they get tired of scoring.

It's been a topic of discussion for years.  It's a joke.

You don't have to tell me what Gunderson looks like, I stare up at a lifesize poster of him every night when I lay in bed.

More accurately, I should have said he's 90% as effective as Kleppe--but at half the size!

Under the weather this week and am sad to say won't be in the Perk lot this weeekend......which means no Italian Beef/Sausage from Chicago. Have not missed a playoff game in quite a while so you will have to depend on Tom Moore's soup to keep everyone warm. Will be watching on the computer and cheering on the Warhawks with a bloody mary in hand. Pound the Rock! Congrats to Level Coppage on his first team WIAC selection as a freshman.....sorry to miss you all this week.....

Anyone check out this week's Around the Nation:

good stuff mentioned about the WIAC:

Surprises
Keith: That the reward for the St. John's/UW-Whitewater winner will be a game against either the No. 1 or No. 2 seed. Ouch.

Pat: The Wartburg/Stevens Point winner, which will beat the Monmouth/Aurora winner.

Disappointments
Ryan: Though it's not in the best interest of the WIAC or the playoffs in general, I was looking forward to seeing the UW schools face off again -- and maybe re-live the tight regular-season matchup. Though it is possible, Whitewater, especially, has a very difficult road to seeing a meeting like that happen.

Frank: Dead horse alert: No. 1 at No. 2?! C'mon! OK, fine. I'll pick St. John's as my disappointment, since they've been a team living on the edge all season long. While I hate picking against Coach Gagliardi, I just think their draw vs. UW-W will force an early exit.

Champion
Keith: I think I'm going with No. 1 seeds elsewhere, and the final four matchups rarely play out as expected. So let's chalk one up for playoff experience (even if its roster got most of it not starting) and the mighty WIAC and send UW-Whitewater back to the semis.

Frank: UW-Whitewater needed to lose in order to have a chance to defend their championship this season. So, the one loss to me is actually a benefit. The experience, the schedule, the taste in their mouths and the desire to win right now puts this #5 seed clearly on my radar -- and you know they have to be salivating over a potential Stevens Point rematch.

Well I think I do know you.  You are a smart ass, you say cruel things about your wife, you have an opinion about everything, you say and do whatever you want, and in short, you remind me of me.  I like you.  Oh, and you are pretty OLD too.
