"Animal House" was filmed 60 miles down I-5 at the University of Oregon.  The stadium you see in the movie is Hayward Field, formerly home of Duck football and now used exclusively for track and field.

Pat,

On the podcast, you mentioned Antwan Anderson was injuried early in the season, opening he way for Levell Coppage to become the featured back for UWW.  Just wanted to make the correction that the player you were thinking of is Jake Anderson.  J. Anderson was probably going to be the replacement for Justin Beaver, but suffered a pre-season knee injury and has been about the 3rd back since his return for UWW this season.  Either way, it's always nice to have depth in the RB position. A. Anderson's success last week may have stunned many but  is certainly not a surprise to Warhawk fans.  Enjoy listening each week!

First off comparing Willamette to Linnfield '05 is a pretty far stretch!! I don't think Borland's defense will have too much trouble shutting down a much smaller team.  Not too mention when our D-End is probably as fast as anyone on their team their speed doesn't concern me either.  So as I said earlier...GOOD LUCK STOPPING THE HAWKS!!

Listen...I'm not a Willamette fan at all.  However, their O-Line isn't small
OT - 6' 7" 310
OG - 6' 1" 300
C - 6' 0" 280
OG - 6'1" 285
OT - 6' 6" 270

And their best offensive players Woo and Horne are just as fast as others fine playmakers I've seen at our level (and I've seen some greats).  And they have a couple of 6'3" WR this season.  It's a home run hitting offense that can get you in the air or on the ground.  I'm looking forward to the match up of that offense vs the Hawks Defense.

Sounds really impressive but it would help me to compare apples and oranges if you told me how you think they compare to the 05 Cats, Wildcat 11?  That team was amazing and a comparison would give me a relative scale.  Thoughts?

Totally different styles and it would be like comparing apples to oranges.  You knew what Linfield was going  to do (pass) and they dared you to stop them.  Willamette's offense is a run based offense but they have a QB that's in tune with the offense and has some very capable receivers and they will/can throw the ball.  The only real thing the offenses have in common is they were/are both big play offenses but they just would beat you in different ways.

Willamette's defense can be gashed and scored on but they seem to make enough plays in each game to make the difference.  The Bearcats have also been very good on special teams all year long and seem to have had huge plays in one aspect of special teams.

Willamette has some impressive talent (Woo, Horne, O-Line) but it's not overwhelming talent but they have played great team football all year long and if you lose the turnover battle and give up the big play on offense then Whitewater is going to lose.

On another note...don't expect the same atmosphere as the 05 UWW/Linfield game.  Willamette has a nice facility but it's Thanksgiving break and the biggest Civil War Game "in history" (U of Oregon/Oregon State) is going to be happening just 45 minutes down the road.  However, it should be a great contest.

Oh, I dunno, here's what OxyBob had to say on the SCIAC board:

"The Willamette fans were friendly and welcoming. The WU campus is beautiful and the football stadium was first rate. The weather was perfect. All that was missing was a win. Willamette was the better team and congratulations to them."

Then, again, he had a team playing that day!!  Must change your perspective?

Yeah, visiting fans sitting on the same side as the home team's fans is total bush league, right UW-W folks?

Was at the St. John's WW game are they going to put something down to keep players from slipping when they go out of bounds on the WW when Donovan slipped and the playeer came in to help him up slipped as well Donavan came up limping but still played.  It reminded me of a Packer preseason game a few years ago.  Also whats the plan for the stands on the other side kind of looked odd seeing no people over there.  I went on Willamettes' site and their stadium looks like the one in the movie "Animal House" in the scene where Boone & Otter are hitting golf balls at the ROTC Cadets I know parts of the film were filmed in Oregon could it be? inquiring mind want to know.  Good luck WW

We will replace the bleachers on the visitor's side but there wasn't time and probably money to do it immediately.  Also I'm told that the type of bleacher we had will not meet current codes so a different style will be needed.   As far as the doing something about the slippery concrete that surrounds the playing field I'm not sure what can be done.  I suggested placing hard rubber mats in the areas where it is the biggest problem like beyond the north end zone but there is a lot of area and you'd need quite a few mats and Donovan's slip happened on the sideline.  Though I'm not sure of the solution I do think it's something that we have to look at.   Donovan's slip wasn't the first I've seen this season.

Even without separate visitor seating there is nothing bush league about Perkins Stadium.

Not really bbaddict.  I've always had that opinion of your setup.  Granted you purchased a new jumbo scoreboard like the Catdome has, nice upgrade there, but cmon now, put stands on the other side, not the frickin endzone.

It seems that you just don't get it.  Some Cat fans don't like WU anytime, doesn't matter who is in the chase.  There is way too much history to go into it here.

The concrete around the field is a project managers/architect screw up. Concrete is slippery with cleats on even when it is dry let alone wet and/or icy. (coefficient of friction) calculation conducted ????  It's just a matter of time before someone gets really hurt. The Stealth clan held it's collective breath when the QB went into the wall after slipping  :o What they should do is get the company that put the field turf down to donate or provide at really low cost enough to lay down at game time behind the end zones and sidelines. I don't understand what the concrete is doing there in the first place. It's not set up for track !!! As far as visitor side seating well chalk that up to another PM/Architect screw up. The rest of the work they did in the stadium is top shelf but what were they thinking or not with the seats and the slip and slide  ::)

There will be seats on the visitors side next year. They thought the old ones were good enough to finish out this year but were wrong. They will also take care of the slippery parts. If nothing else, WW has first class facilities. They did kind of a rush job to get the stadium ready in time for the first game. Any problems will be corrected by opening day next season.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

I agree. Both will be taken care of. The Perk is a huge priority at UWW and will be upgraded accordingly. Regarding the concrete, DLK saw the same thing Stealth saw. He has already told PP to get it fixed. Consider it done.

At least we know who's running the show at Whitewater.
