A good friend of mine who just happened to move to the Salem, OR area a couple of years back invited me to stay with them for the weekend and see the game.

My search for airfares showed they were pretty steep - but I found one with a late Sat night red-eye return that was 150 bucks less than a Sunday return.  So I'm going to see the Warhawks out west.

Woo Hoo!!   :)

You won't be saying "Woo who" by the time you leave Salem.  Everyone will know who Woo is after this weekend.

Would that be Marcus Woo or am I (Chris) Wong?   ;)

In the 5 years my son played for the Warhawks we traveled to quite a few different places but were never treated any better than when we were in Oregon.....I will bet the Willamette backers are just as nice as they were at Linfield. I don't know how Willamette stacks up to that Linfield team but if they are even close the Warhawks are in for a real game. If you are a parent and on the fence about going I would encourage you to go especially if you have never been to Oregon.....it's a beautiful state. Good luck to the Warhawks and Pound the Rock....we will listening....

That's nice to hear Sakman. We at Linfield enjoyed the Whitewater fans. I hope lots of them do come out for the game and stay a while to check out Oregon. The weather is supposed to be good this weekend, no rain. There are lots of places to see -- the beach, the Columbia Gorge, Mt. Hood.

Pat's D3 Willamette team in Hawaii story is better than the one from the state archives, and River, that video on the Willamette site is awesome! I've never seen that before.
The father of one of my best friends in high school was on that team. My friend came to Linfield briefly. He didn't want to go to Willamette for some reason.

There will be seats on the visitors side next year. They thought the old ones were good enough to finish out this year but were wrong. They will also take care of the slippery parts. If nothing else, WW has first class facilities. They did kind of a rush job to get the stadium ready in time for the first game. Any problems will be corrected by opening day next season.

I agree. Both will be taken care of. The Perk is a huge priority at UWW and will be upgraded accordingly. Regarding the concrete, DLK saw the same thing Stealth saw. He has already told PP to get it fixed. Consider it done.

I watched with curiosity at the end of the first half as coach Leipold repeatedly walked back and fourth between the locker room and what I presume was an NCAA official.  Coach Leipold was angrily waving his arms up and down obviously upset.

Now granted, the missed touchdown at the end of the first half may have caused his outburst however I'd be interested to know what exactly was going on and why he was so upset at the gentlemen in the dark coat and lid.

By the way, thanks Janesville Flash for your hospitality.  Your squad is in a much different category this year.

BoBo - I knew we had to have a cosmic connection as my BD is 12/8.

Maybe Leipold was upset about the time menagement at the end of the first half. They had two TO's left and could probably have gotten the TD if they used them. Not that it had any impact on the game, but at the time it looked like it could be important.

That's an incredible video, thanks for the link.  It's an amazing story.

Pat, I agree.  Your writeup was better than the other one.

Safe travels to all of the UWW faithful as you head to the left coast.  Is your school going to have video available of the game on sat ?  I know that Pat and Wildcat11 will be on the internet broadcast by D3.

So far, I can only find live stats and radio. Hoping video is available. I wanted to SEE if WW could make Willamette keep their fly zipped.

Pat,
Nine of the ten Gagliardi finalists are quarterbacks.  Is that typical?

No, it's a little higher than usual.

Willamette hasn't had video webcasts of any games this season that I'm aware of. Video is produced by Capitol City TV (www.cctvsalem.org) and is broadcast several times per week on a local Comcast channel.
