Enjoy the week off before heading to Texas for the semi's.

Looking more and more like WWW/MUC Part 4.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

A good friend of mine who just happened to move to the Salem, OR area a couple of years back invited me to stay with them for the weekend and see the game.

My search for airfares showed they were pretty steep - but I found one with a late Sat night red-eye return that was 150 bucks less than a Sunday return.  So I'm going to see the Warhawks out west.

Woo Hoo!!   :)

You won't be saying "Woo who" by the time you leave Salem.  Everyone will know who Woo is after this weekend.

I do know who  Woo is now.  I also know about a few other impressive offensive players like Scheottgen (though I'm not as sure about the spelling).

But I also know the Warhawks will be taking the field this Saturday - and, thankfully, closer to home.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Well it looks like the new Field Turf in the Perk will come in handy this week...just sweep off with a Bobcat...what is the predicted snowfall for Whitewater tonight?

If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Congrats to the Warhawks who were very impressive in yesterday's win.  It's tough to get down big to a team who's been there before.  1 question...How the hell is Anderson your backup RB?  That guy is a beast (and a sophomore? :o).
Winning isn't everything, but wanting to win is...
Practice?  We talkin about practice???

Saturday was Anderson's first career start.

Starter until Saturday: G    ATT.  YDS   yds L. Net    YPC   TD    LNG    Yds/game
Levell Coppage       11    272    1420    45    1375    5.1    20      54       125.0

Levell had D1 Interest before coming to UWW.  Oh, and he's a FRESHMAN!
If he gets healthy, UWW will have a MONSTER 1-2 punch rest of way.
If not, Anderson will have to pound the rock. Based on Saturday, he looks up to the challenge.

I have a case of thinking out loud:

WU finished the game with 509 total yards on 73 offensive plays, while Whitewater gained 505 total yards on only 58 plays. The NWC guys alluded to the fact that WU is such a quick strike offense, but yet they had 15 additional plays in a little under 4 minutes more in TOP.  I think the Warhawks defense did a very good job of taking WU out of their normal routine by "allowing" them more plays (bend but don't break philosophy), but then making the stops on 4th down deep in UWW land.  UWW averaged nearly a full 2 yards better per play.

"UW-Whitewater was a tough team" Willamette Head Coach Mark Speckman said. "Those are big kids and their offensive line blocked very well."

Explaining their second half performance: "We sped the tempo up," Speckman said. "It made it hard for them to make some adjustments."  Didn't they play a no-huddle the entire game? Isn't a no-huddle kind of playing at a fast tempo to begin with?  :-\

The injury situation is critical this week...guys getting banged up is not unusual, but listening to the game, it seemed there were a few key players leaving the game - center Garth Coates  and WR Adam Brandes left and did not return.  Coppage, of course, was out...Donovan was/is bruised at bit, so to speak...depth is there, but it would be nice to be healthier entering the regional finals.  Anyone know where the playoff roster is published?  I was looking for it but could only find the regular season 100 man roster.

Wartburg comes in knowing they beat the team (on the road) that was the only team to beat the Warhawks, and at Perkins Stadium.  That alone must give them a boost as they begin to prepare for playing the 'hawks.  I liked the way UWW started that Willamette game - that's the same way they need to come out this week- but come to think of it, the Warhawks have made a habit of doing this over the past couple years - Wesley, NCC, Wabash - all of them in pretty lousy weather, too. Coming home should also provide a lift to the home team...hopefully the fans come out to witness it and show their support.

voice, I know lot of people listened to the D3 broadcast on Saturday, but I had you guys tuned in and it sounded great...the technical problems I was having the prior couple weeks didn't return!!

Hopfully the free video will be back this week (maybe?) Can't get the pay Penn Atlantic over here, across the sea.

Great road win. THAT'S something WW hasn't had to do in a bit. After 24 hours of meditation I believe I'd like to see

so WW Hawks can even the score at 2-2.

Do you realize you wrote?

Quoteplaying Stout defense wins championships
:D

Agreed.

Quotetrick and deceptive plays can only take you so far

Defense, I believe, will win the games, true, but
is the professional West Coast offense a gimmick? Is no-huddle a gimmick?
Quote

Most of Willamette's yardage came after the game was over.

That would have been 10 minutes into the second quarter?

Hope those injuries are recoverable.

Tuxguy

Having been at the game and watching Willamette play twice, once against the
Wildcats and Saturday Against your Warhawks, I'd have to call it a no huddle
offense and not  hurry up. If you were at the game you know what I mean. I'm not sure if Pat and Ryan made note of that or not on the broadcast .
The Bearcats burned at least 2 or 3 time outs and had a few delay of game penalties. The play clock was down to 3 or 4 seconds each time the ball was snapped.

It looked like it took to  long to get the plays in, same thing happened when they played Linfield.

The funny thing is all the players have the plays on there wrists with numbers so all the Qb has to do is call out the number. bluenote has fun with it and calls out  WHAT TIME IS IT !;D As it looks like they have watches on and are looking to see what time it is.

Good luck this Saturday, sounds as if you wont have as nice the weather as you did out west.

Does Whitewater have a live internet feed to watch the game?
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

BoBo

Tuxguy,

All their games are on Penn Atlantic for a fee, but in the past, playoff games have been free of charge (SJU game, for example)...the video is from UWW-TV, meaning (cover your ears) student announcers - but the productions is nice with multiple camera's and angles, replay, and graphics.

Here's the Link to live stats, radio, and video from the UWW web site.

As of this moment, nothing was listed on the Penn Altantic schedule...since this is a NCAA game, it might be found off their web site.

Hey Bobo, I have the playoff roster from the program if you want to send me an email or PM with a fax number, I can send it to you.  Or I guess I could email it to you cuz I have the technology.  Do you want the Wartburg roster as well?

Good luck to your team this weekend.

Walston Hoover

Hey guys. Hoping I can get some things changed in my schedule so I can make it up Saturday. Looking forward to a second trip to Wisky in a 2-week span.
I know next-to-nothing about WW. What is it that makes the team so special? The success you guys have had the last 4 years can't come by accident.
From our side, I'm not sure what it is about the Knights this year. Defensively, its the worst unit statistically-wise probably in 10 years. Offensively, we can't run the football and are very inconsistent. That being said, both sides have guys that step up and make plays when the game is on the line. WHether its a pick in the red zone or running for your first gain over 5 yards late in the game when all you need is a first down. It just happens.
Ready to really see where we stand as a program on Saturday. There's not a much better measuring stick than the defending champs.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Oh, Walston, you joker.

They win.

Actually, see the lengthy post by 413 today on the NWC board for the insight you are probably looking for.
